I promise not to mention House of Bruar Kalu
I was skimming through the morning thread and read that Marydoll was tiling, not filing. I wasn't particularly surprised
grin
The plumber came with his team. He removed the old boiler but there's been a holdup with the new one. Ofcourse there has!
hmm

They must have disconnected some electrics too. I tried to finish the macaroni cheese in the oven but it was stone cold.
I see you are getting a new boiler too Greyduster but yours seems much quicker.

DGD came over today. They picked apples and made presents for their new baby cousin.

I hope your anniversary was enjoyable kitty.
Tantalising to say it was like no other.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning all, back in Glasgow where the weather is, let’s say, fair enough.

We had such a good weekend at the but n ben. Our friends left after breakfast on Sunday. Please don’t tell Marydoll, my cousin and I had lunch at House of Bruar and a mooch around for winter woolies with some success.
As for the rowdy party, the but n ben is in the middle of nowhere, it wisnae me. ?
It was lovely having time alone with my cousin who is a year younger and more like a sister. We grew up with a strong bond, attending the same two schools but it has been years since we last a sleepover.

I agree, they all seem so young baubles, DH’s surgeon is younger than our DDs at 37 and she is extremely skilled. Just getting through the day is suffice. Cuddles for daft dug.
Congratulations to your DG Taichai. Our eldest DG is having lessons and can’t wait to pass her test. ?

Hope a good day is ahead for all.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
I’m on the desk for the first time at the music club so will get there early as we arrange things. I’m feeling a lot better after my jab but still not 100% (not that I ever feel tremendous these days lol). Not sure how long I can hold out just with a halogen heater here in the frozen north, but on we go. Many have managed without ch over the years, so it’s an interesting exercise.
Had confirmation today that Orient Express trip with my daughter is definite for next May, after being cancelled twice through Covid.
Hope appointments work out well Mick and thoughts to anyone with troubles.

Good morning everyone from a watery sunny Co Armagh

Good morning all from a sunny W Kent. Watching our lovely gardener helping my DH in the front garden. Packing still, takes days, for Scotland, I think it will be me at the House of Bruar! with any luck.
Very best wishes to all having ops and procedures today.

henetha Tue 11-Oct-22 09:55:46

Here's a thought. If my husband was still alive, and we hadn't got divorced, today would be our 64th wedding anniversary.
Have a lovely day everyone. Lovely weather here in south Dartmoor.

Blossoming Tue 11-Oct-22 09:53:45

Good morning Mick and everyone. A cool cloudy morning in this corner of Lancashire.

Not much planned for today. So it will be usual housework, exercises and Gaelic studies.

Have the best day you can all.

Auntieflo Tue 11-Oct-22 09:34:20

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. There is a nippy feeling to the weather here this morning.
We will go out shortly. DH to his meeting and me to wander around a couple of shops, until time to meet up for coffee. Nothing to look for, just mooching, but I could do with a new slow cooker, as ours gave up the ghost a couple of months ago.

Yesterday we went to the funeral of one of our dear Church friends. Such a lovely service, but sad as well because she was 11 years younger than me and was always so positive and helpful.

Our neighbours have had to have their dog put to sleep. She had cancer, and I shall miss her warm and bristly 'kisses'.

I didn't mean to be all doom and gloom, and there is much to be thankful for.

Marydoll, you are an inspiration with your get up and go, even though it may be diminished a bit.

To all who are having a bad time, love and hugs.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate. I haven’t read the posts taking advantage of the peace and quiet on the train! Which came in late!! I asked about my train from York to Edinburgh since there wasn’t much time as it was to get the next train. Oh, it’s been cancelled!! The next train gets to Edinburgh at 1.12pm!! I’m not happy, I leave Edinburgh at 5.30 - unless you know different? At least I’ll have 4 hours with my friend.
Will catch up on posts while I am waiting!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a bright and chilly-feeling Northampton; must be chilly because the heating has clicked on. Dozed in bed till 8.30am, so am all behind this morning.

Will make a chilli for the slow cooker this morning, and leave it cooking while I am out on my health walk this afternoon, nice to come back to a good meal, with only rice to cook when I get back. Then an evening of tv and knitting.

I enjoyed yesterday afternoon's film, Ticket to Paradise', although it was a bit of nonsense really. Still, it's always good to see George Clooney! Managed to be lucky and get a bus practically to my doorstep as soon as I got out of the cinema.

Lots going on today for everyone; hope it all goes well.

EkwaNimitee Tue 11-Oct-22 09:06:04

Good morning Mick and all from a rather cloudy Carlisle.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and I got out in the garden after lunch. I dismantled a compost bin in which I'd stacked some of the turves from the ex back lawn earlier in the year. They have broken down into lovely loam full of worms so I have been spreading it on my veg/fruit border. After that I dug out one of the novels I've kept for reading again 'sometime'. It's a project I started some time ago in a bid to reduce the quantity of books in the house. Most are finding their way to the charity bookshop once re-read. A pile are going there shortly as I'm soon off into town for the morning.

Marydoll, I'm sure those dogs sense your problems and are sympathetic ! They're trying to be friendly and helpful I guess but not easy for you if you have had a bad experience in the past.

Wishing you all the best possible day.

SunshineSally Tue 11-Oct-22 09:05:39

A very hurried good morning from a sunny but chilly south Hants.
Just about to put on my Mrs Mop cap and visit DFiL and DMiL.
It’s been a hectic few days so I haven’t had a chance to post anything.
Haven’t read your posts yet - just sitting with a quick cuppa and will read now (I think I’ve got time!).
Have the best day you can. Thoughts for those with medical appointments, worries or are in pain??
Hugs and ? for you all x

Georgesgran Tue 11-Oct-22 09:03:55

Good morning from Durham where it’s bright but cold. My friends husband‘s admission to hospital yesterday afternoon went well, if slowly, but hopefully he is all set for his operation this morning.
I’d like to thank the GM’s who offered sympathy for the loss of DH2‘s darling dog, Rocky. After 13 years he will leave a big hole in our hearts and will be sadly missed.
I also want to pass on my very best wishes for those GNs and their loved ones feeling under the weather and hope better things lie ahead.
Must shake a leg as I have jobs to do and I’m meeting a friend at lunchtime, who I was supposed to meet yesterday and had to cancel.
Have a good day.

ginny Tue 11-Oct-22 08:39:02

A sunny Good Morning to all.
Play date with youngest DGS this morning. Preparations for the next craft club meeting this afternoon.
Hope all hospital visits and ops. go well.

GrannySomerset Tue 11-Oct-22 08:38:44

First frost this morning so the summer pots are definitely over, so this afternoon will involve dealing with them and deciding what to buy to replenish at least some of them. Otherwise supermarket and driveway makers - never a dull moment!

Grandmabatty Tue 11-Oct-22 08:33:34

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9°. No frost here but light rain instead.
Marydoll I think of the Dylan Thomas poem, 'Do not go gentle into the night.' You live life fully.
Yesterday I made Delia's spiced red cabbage for Christmas. Unlike the Brussel sprouts which have been bubbling away for a while now (Terry Wogan rip) the cabbage is mostly in the freezer. I did have some with chicken last night and pronounce it good. I also made an enormous pot of lentil soup. I have kept enough for lunches all week and the rest is in foil trays in the freezer too.
Today I will potter gently around the house. I need to get the brush out and sweep the garden as it's rather leaf and moss strewn. Then I'll make a chicken curry for dinner. Quiet and peaceful day ahead. Have a good day all.

Gala Tue 11-Oct-22 08:24:05

Good morning all. Cool, overcast & dry here in Sefton.

Felt really cold & tired yesterday & couldn't keep my eyes open. Managed to stay awake through singing, just, but spent all afternoon snoozing under a throw....it felt like a (delayed) reaction to my Covid jab a few days earlier. Feel "normal" this morning after a good night's sleep

Zoom exercise class this morning, then the fish man & some food shopping. Exciting times!

Hoping for positive outcomes for those with hospital appointments & ((hugs)) for those of you that may need one.

Taichinan Tue 11-Oct-22 08:21:54

Good morning all from the Angus coast where the sun has not long risen. It did so in a very bruised-looking pink sky so it looks as if there's a stormy day ahead - red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning and all that. I have the double-glazing installer returning at 9.30 to sort out the closing mechanism on one of the large north-facing windows in my bedroom. But after that the day's my own and I intend to apply it to tai chi paperwork. Ugh!
DGD1, who passed her driving test last week, has asked if she and her friend and possibly DGD3 can drive up for a visit on Saturday (of course!!) and for a walk on the beach followed by their favourite pizza. Sounds like a lovely plan! Perhaps the enjoyment of the novelty of the freedom of being able to drive won't wear off too soon, but I think the realisation of the cost of petrol will very quickly have a dampening effect!
I hope all goes to plan today Mick, and that MissOops's operation is successful. Grandmattie I wish I had half your energy! Greyduster that means your little fighter is your great-great nephew I think - I have four of those now and call them my "Great-greats". Such a joy.
Must dash and shower and dress before the window man cometh. Have a good day all x

harrigran Tue 11-Oct-22 08:18:03

Good morning from a dry NE where the moon is still quite visible.
Heating engineer will be here in ten minutes to service the boiler.
SIL was intending to be here but not sure he will make it in time as he has to travel in the rush hour.
Sorted some cupboards yesterday, I was looking for an old type phone in case of power cuts, can't imagine where it is, probably the attic.
I appear to have lost a cashmere jumper, spent days looking for that, hope I didn't take it to the cleaners and have forgotten about it.
Back later to read posts.

Pittcity Tue 11-Oct-22 08:13:31

Good morning from sunny Colchester. A cold morning as the heating bumped on for the first time. DH remarked that I was being very extravagant with heating and a new bar of soap in the shower!!!
Volunteering in the charity shop as it's Tuesday.
Love to all ? x

ShazzaKanazza Tue 11-Oct-22 08:07:40

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s going to be another lovely day.

I’m going to get my uncle his shopping and picking Mum up to come with me to see him in Bridlington. I haven’t seen them both for three weeks so there will lots to chat about.
Mum will be very eager to know how my holiday went spending time with my Dad and Step Mum in Menorca. I know she wishes she’d stayed with him all those years ago but if she’d stayed with him I wouldn’t have had my other 5 half siblings in my life.

Hoping all hospital appointments and operations go well today.

Wishing everyone a lovely day. Special thoughts to those coping with daily stress. ??

Gingster Tue 11-Oct-22 08:02:12

Good morning all . Chilly but bright here in Essex,

I visited ‘my lovely girl’ yesterday. (Who I looked after when her dm died). Her baby will be a year old next week. He’s lovely! Very smiley and has now been walking for two months.

Dd will pop in for coffee after school run and I have Bridge club this afternoon.

Good luck today Mick

Hope all goes well for Miss-oops.

Wishing you all a ‘good’ day whatever you’re doing. ?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Oct-22 07:57:41

Morning all

Mick I hope your iron infusion goes well today.

Oopsadaisy the same for your DD knees operation, I hope she is up and about soon.

There was a frost in the roofs this morning, the sky is now clear and blue and we are forecast a dry sunny, but crisp day.

Bed changing here, then some ironing. I need to buy some more onions for pickling or the AC will riot ?

kittylester I sympathise with your bad nights sleep, I seem to being going through a phase of insomnia at the moment, I try not to nap during the day so that I am shattered by bedtime but it doesn’t seem to be working at the moment.

Have a good day folks ?‍♀️?
