That is sad. He was a unique personality, very special.

So sorry to hear this. I thought he was the perfect Hagrid, but I first saw him in Nuns on the Run. I wonder if they’ll rerun Cracker.
RIP Robbie

I occurred to me a while back that I hadn’t heard anything of him for a while. Was so sad to hear this. RIP

One of the few who stood up for JK too. So long Robbie, thanks for everything.

I second that.

Eek volver! I always got their faces mixed up.
Gleeson is Irish.
Born in Dublin and he’s 67y.

So sad. Excellent in so many things. My favourite being Cracker. It is on the ITV hub and I will definitely keep going back to watch it and remember what a great actor he was.

volver

Urmstongran

I loved him in 2 of my top 10 films of all time.
‘Calvary’.
And ‘In Bruges’.

I’m off to watch one of those tonight.
Have you seen them? Highly recommend.

When you watch them you'll probably see that Robbie Coltrane's not in them.

Brendan Gleeson.

Glad you said that Volver - thought I was going mad!

I’d heard that too Grandmabatty.
A recluse ‘in the Highlands’ apparently.

I should have said that was for Urms

Grandmabatty Fri 14-Oct-22 19:01:32

He died close by then as that's my local hospital. I believe he was very much reclusive.

Jazzhands Fri 14-Oct-22 18:57:40

Oh bugger!
'Probably shouldn't have said that!' Hagrid

hulahoop Fri 14-Oct-22 18:54:20

Much as I like Tom Burke, who plays Cormoran Strike in the ‘Strike’ series, I always feel when reading the books that Robbie Coltrane was the image in JK Rowling’s (Robert Galbraith’s) mind when she wrote them.

Dark haired, very overweight, heavy smoker, but women seemed to find him attractive.

Sad news about Robbie’s death.
