Jeremy Hunt is to review energy bills support from April 2003 and also indicated uncertainty re the pensioner triple lock. I receive the ‘new’ pension so am just above Pension Credit threshold, am I right to be worried about my finances next year?

You need lots of savings if you hope to carry on spending on clothes, new car, holidays... If you are prepared to cut down on heating, cooking, going out etc you might manage within your budget. Worrying about it won't help.

I'm not talking about clothes, cars and holidays. I'm talking about having a roof over your head and food on the table.

I try not to worry about things I can't change. That would be like getting stressed because you are in a long supermarket queue...you can't change it. I wait... I live simply and peacefully within my means and will continue to do so...

Many people don't have the means even to live simply. It would be amazing if they weren't worried.

I’m a pensioner who receives an old rate pension …..and I have £4 per week too much for pension credit….if they keep their word as regards Triple Lock pension I’ll run naked up my high street. Yes…be afraid of your pension….which is the lowest in Europe….be very afraid!

Keir would have just kept on as he did about Boris until she went, she made a mess of things and lost credibility, however there’s no need to personally attack people and humiliate. It’s put me off him.
Think the Chancellor needs to be cautious which he is, there’s no magic answer to the problems we have.

Your memory is selective. Nothing Starmer has said comes anywhere near the viciousness of the name-calling he has been subjected to by Johnson.

Perhaps if we have a new PM the new Chancellor Hunt will be out.

Any guesses who will put themselves up as the next PM?

The latest news is that BJ is now attempting to be re-elected as Prime Minister. The nerve of the man!

Grow stuff... I was just saying what I do...nothing more, nothing less.

Oh and I am saving a lot by making amazingly simple nourishing soups and filling my freezer. But that is neither here nor there. I was not suggesting that anyone live as I do. I live simply on a narrow boat. I have to be physically very strong and capable and able to put up with many hardships...having to cut and split logs for a start. No central heating of course. Oh and being able to lift a 13kg gas tank from jetty down into the gas locker. I would never expect anyone on here to live as I do....

In spite of paying cobtributions for 43 years I do not receive the higher rate pension. I am though exempt from any benefits (council tax reduced as single occupant). I have minimum savings.Apart from the personal needs of a human eg food, clothing, heat most people have to maintain a home. Today I paid £10 for a handyman to re-insert a downlighter that had popped out of its socket in a bathroom. Lot of the cost would be for his fuel. Less than 5 mins work. Heating can't be turned of completely in rooms or else damp can appear. No public transport where I live unless I walk a mile to a bus stop and that's along a very narrow footpath along side a busy A road and the bus only goes to a small shopping area. No transport to Drs, dentist, opticians, chemist, hairdresser. A car is essential. So yes, pensioners should be given a decent increase to help with current inflation.
