This is what Biden called Sunak today.
Yesterday he couldn’t determine the rehearsed way out of a White House garden and had to be helped out by an aide.

This man.

The most powerful man in the world? What a joke - he is a senile buffoon. At 79y it’s embarrassing to witness. His facial plastic surgery helps him to look younger but it’s all a facade.

I think Dr Jill Biden (his wife) ought to guide him away from politics now.
What do you think? Is it time he enjoyed some rest and retirement?

In fact I’m not sure anyone has. (called him names)

Sleepy Joe. Page one.

The OP referred to Joe Biden as 'a senile buffoon'.

Urmstongran is an ‘Out’ supporter of Trump. No surprise in seeing her offensive description of Biden.
Biden may be past his best but he’s a much safer pair of hands that Trump, who led the assault on the capital with his fake news on the election. Far more dangerous than Biden could be

I’ve just had a happy thought though. As Trump is 76, he’s also heading for the same category, he will be far too old to stand for president again. That’s a great relief.

Thanks Callistemon21
I won my bet, Volver. smile

henetha

I don't think that's a fair comparison.
The president of the United States is politically in charge of having to make huge decisions and be very active in every day politics. Our Queen was able to continue as hers was a job for life, and her children etc could and did help her with her duties. And her job was very different from Biden's. Our head of state is not active in politics.
No doubt a clever and sarcastic response will now come my way.

I agree, henetha

That is why we, on the whole, prefer to have a Constitutional Monarchy in the UK.

Yes RichmondPark, for those who have relatives who are really suffering from dementia, it could be upsetting if the condition is joked about.

maddyone Wed 26-Oct-22 23:35:03

Gosh, I made a mistake, not start World War Three. Apologies. I knew I didn’t call anyone any names, in particular not Joe Biden. I hadn’t recalled reading any either, but it has been pointed out multiple times that I was wrong. Can we drop it now please? As I said upthread, older people, including me, have senior moments and forget things. Can we move on now please?

RichmondPark1 Wed 26-Oct-22 22:48:33

I thought the 'senile buffoon' insult was probably very painful for anyone suffering from or caring for someone suffering from dementia.

Calendargirl

But we are not in charge of one, if not the, most powerful countries in the world ParlorGames.

That is the difference.

Still does not mean people can show disrespect!!!!!

Hithere Wed 26-Oct-22 16:13:34

I live here and havent heard that for Biden

That offensive nickname only shows what kind of person Trump is

MerylStreep Wed 26-Oct-22 16:03:06

Thank god the president only starts the procedure.

Sleepy Joe is a nick name widely used in the USA by the current POTUS opponents, since POTUS Trump used it in the run up to the last election.

Perhaps we should add POTUS Biden to the long list of politicians/celebs who cannot be critiqued?

(It’s always open season on Conservative MPs, party members or anyone who voted for them by the way.)

Trump coined it?

Oh well, that's OK then.

Critique the man and the job he is doing all you like. Just don't say he can't do the job because he's old.

I was only letting posters know where the nick-name emanated from, which is not an endorsement of its use.

POTUS can be 90 as far as I am concerned as long as he has cognitive ability to do the job.

Actually now I've thought about it, he was probably commenting on the crazy state with 3 PMs and all that's happened here. It has been a somewhat bumpy ride.

The only thing I wondered about was the go figure comment. Not sure what he meant.

maddyone Wed 26-Oct-22 15:38:22

Maybe I’m sleepy Maddy. I certainly have a fair few senior moments.

kircubbin2000 Wed 26-Oct-22 15:37:54

Callistemon21 Wed 26-Oct-22 15:10:37

I agree with maddyone, yes, it is worrying but with the proviso that I did know someone who could not get names right even though they were intelligent, compos mentis and had full cognitive abilities.

It was a quirk and I admit we used to have a laugh about it afterwards but she wasn't so-called leader of the free world.

maddyone Wed 26-Oct-22 15:06:53

Firstly I would like to say that I have absolutely not called Biden any names. In fact I’m not sure anyone has. Certainly posters have speculated about his ability to do his job given his age. We have seen evidence on our television screens of some of his confusion. If he was a nice older man, doing his garden, and playing with his grandchildren no one would think anything about it, but he’s running the most powerful country in the world. And that has to be a worry. It’s not his age but his cognitive ability. It’s true there can be problems in that department in younger people, but we all know that cognitive ability declines with age. It’s a fact, not an opinion. That’s why many care homes are filled with people whose cognitive abilities have declined to the extent that they can no longer look after themselves, and they are in the main, older people. That’s where the phrase I’m having a senior moment comes from. Joe Biden is certainly not at that stage, but he may be having a few too many senior moments to be the leader of the free world.

Forsythia Wed 26-Oct-22 15:04:52

My view is that if somebody is showing signs of dementia, senility, forgetfulness on a serious scale and they are in a position of power which could affect many countries detrimentally then really should that person be allowed to carry on? For his sake and our own? If it is a proven fact.

Casdon Wed 26-Oct-22 15:03:36

If 70 is the upper age limit you would allow you are discriminating. I’m sorry too, but there it is.

Prentice Wed 26-Oct-22 15:00:58

No, I did not say that anybody over 70 is incapable of the job.
I hate to be a pedant but there you are.
There will be some that age and over who are capable in every way, but my suggestion of the cut off age for a President or a PM of a country of age 70 is to prevent anyone either becoming not so capable shortly after, or of being so at the time and it is hidden.
