A very blustery start here in Oxfordshire as others have said. Still feeling a bit under the weather with a croaky voice and sore throat, however it's nothing in the grand scheme of things. I do hope Ash is comfortable, I expect she's relieved its over.
Just work at home for me today. Can't quite believe we are in November.

ginny Tue 01-Nov-22 07:47:48

Good morning. It is looking brighter outside after a wet and blustery night.Several jobs to do today and must drop some milk off at DD3s house. They return from holiday late this evening so at least they will be able to make a cuppa and breakfast for the boys in the morning.
This evening I am off with our WI to watch Calendar Girls in Northampton.
Thinking of all in hospital or having treatment .
At the day bring a smile for everyone.

Good morning Mick, Grandmattie et al from a grey wet Angus coast. My body clock is still on summer time, hence an early (for me) start.
Love your knitted nativity Grandmattie. One of my late friends made a nativity scene one year - happy memory.
I didn't see your hare drawing until too late to comment yesterday, Hollysteers. You are another talented lady. I love hares too and have several pictures of them hanging in my garden room. In the Perthshire countryside around where my daughter lives hares abound - round here, not so much. But one day when my late partner and I were on a leisurely drive up country one jumped out and ran ahead of us for a good half mile. He was as big as a small dog, and with a fair turn of speed! Beautiful creature.
So glad that Ash eventually had her op - she could have done without the 'will they, won't they' uncertainty beforehand! Sending warm wishes and a gentle hug for a speedy recovery.
DD is still under the weather with her Labyrinthitis, though much improved. As I'm going over to see her again today she asked me if I would get helium balloons - a one and a seven - for DGD'S birthday on Friday. I ended up walking the length of the High Street with the balloons gayly bobbing above my head pronouncing I was 71! It raised a few smiles! And I'm sure I heard someone murmur "Little liar" 😉😆
Have a good day everyone with plenty of smiles and sunshine in your hearts x

Good morning from a dull Black Country where the heavy rain through the night has just stopped.

Zumba this morning, then with Mum meeting DS for lunch in Wolverhampton in his lunch break. He works from home mostly, so a chance to catch up with him when he is in the office.

MrJ's DD gained her PhD yesterday and is now Doctor! MrJ naturally is very proud!

Well don Urms it's is not easy is it? I lost 7lbs since June. Very slowly is the way to go and think of it as a healthy way of eating rather than a diet.

Hoping all is well with Ashcombe.

Wishing you all a good 1st November.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 01-Nov-22 07:58:12

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Thank you for keeping us posted on Ash, hope she recovers soon , GrandMattie,Lovely work with your nativity. When I was at work we knitted a nativity set, I did Mary and a wonky donkey.
Lovely photo Greyduster.
Yesterday spent ages on the phone to JL about how to open the door of my washing machine. Apparently a squad is arriving on Thursday to open it and remove it. My poor washing stuck in it all that time! I’ve already done some hand washing! Went into town in the afternoon.
Today apart from a rummage in the attic I’m meeting the ladies from a church club for my first Xmas lunch.
Have the best day possible folks

Naughtyneine Tue 01-Nov-22 07:58:19

Morning everyone... Apparel it was blowing a houli here overnight but I must have been asleep on my good ear as I didn't even hear the window blowing open!!!!!. I hope Ash is ok and all has gone to plan.
Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Tue 01-Nov-22 07:58:23

Morning all from a greyish North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here today.

Greyduster Tue 01-Nov-22 08:04:33

Oops your comments about your DH made me smile. DH was exactly the same with his inhalers. I used to carry them whenever we went out or they wouldn’t have gone with us!

Taichinan Tue 01-Nov-22 08:05:02

Well done Urms - bet you look and feel great!

Marydoll Tue 01-Nov-22 08:18:31

Gwen, the same thing happened to me, but I managed to eventually open the door, after watching a you Tube video.

Kalu Tue 01-Nov-22 08:19:07

Good morning all from another wet start in Glasgow where the rain has stopped and patches of blue skies are appearing, ever the optimist.

What a glorious sunrise Grey

Not a lot on the cards today but I haven’t checked my to do list yet!

Wishing a pleasant day to all.

GrannySomerset Tue 01-Nov-22 08:20:28

Love the Nativity and look forward to the completed display. Very clever. Impressed by Urm’s achievement and resolved to get a grip. Not before time. Hoping that all goes well with Ash’s recovery and that Marydoll can get the kind of support from her surgery that she has the right to expect.

Supermarket trip but nothing else planned for today so might make a start on the C cards since I have bought them. The diary looks much busier later in the month so I ought to use this quieter time to get ahead. Or I could just revert to watching the cattle in the field behind the house …..

Urmstongran Tue 01-Nov-22 08:23:01

I’m delighted (of course) and thank you all SO much for your lovely encouragement. However, it’s a work in progress. I have almost another 2sts to lose yet! A long way to go. Doing the maths I’m hoping to achieve my target weight by Easter. Why oh why did I take my eye off the ball so much that I allowed myself to get so fat and uncomfortable? But yes I do FEEL great this morning I just don’t quite LOOK it yet ... but I’m determined I WILL.
😮

Grandmabatty Tue 01-Nov-22 08:25:30

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and grey. The ground is damp. Best wishes to Ash for a speedy recovery. Well done Urms. I'm not very good at losing weight.
Yesterday I went to dd's house and dgs1 sang a song and told a knock knock joke which was his party piece for Halloween. It must have been successful as dd said they have enough sweets to last the year! He dressed as Batman and the baby went as Robin. His party piece is smiling.
I didn't have any wee guisers but I didn't expect any.
Today I'm off out shortly with dd and dgs2 to a garden centre. Thereafter I'll potter. Have a good day all.

Pittcity Tue 01-Nov-22 08:26:57

Good morning from a grey, chilly Colchester.
Must've been windy here last night as I put 3 black sacks of rubbish out last thing and there are only 2 half way up the garden this morning!?
We had a steady stream of little Trick or Treaters in the early evening but took our sign in at 8pm and weren't disturbed after that....the rain might've been a factor.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. We'll be busyish as people have been paid and are looking for winter clothing and Christmas gifts.
Love to all 🦩x

Wyllow3 Tue 01-Nov-22 08:27:03

Morning all from a calm but grey S Yorks. I was up too late to catch your lovely sunrise, Greyduster. That nativity scene really wowed me Gmattie

what a dramatic night - the huge poplars at end next doors garden swaying alarmingly in the wind.*

Its calm and damp now.

Tree ladies coming at 9.30 about cutting back one tree which is hovering over asbestos and another smallish one blocking a lot of light from the garden.

Take care all.

*if the poplars should ever need to come down, its almost impossible to tackle. they are at the end of next doors garden, but both them and the people opposite them claim its each others trees! both have fences built inside the poplars! I need to have a bit of fence sawed off as they grow. As its private, cant involve the council.

Hoping for good Ash news and that everyone poorly or looking after poorlies has as best a day as possible.

Our GP practice has long waits but call backs still on tap if you contact early, waiting game for the phone, before 10am!

One thing is to go in, in person, as early as you can to get n the call back list, but its a long way. but they are doing better than just "urgents".

baubles Tue 01-Nov-22 08:37:23

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where we’re between showers.

Last night was so busy, I was run ragged. In the end I gave out over seventy bags of treats, who knows where all the children came from. However they were all polite and told their jokes and a few sang a little song which was lovely.

Love the nativity figures Mattie.

Today is a work day, I’m up to four and a half hours now. A full day is six and a half so I’m getting there.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grammaretto Tue 01-Nov-22 08:43:11

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Very pretty colours here.
I hope Ash is recovering well from her operation.
I can't think how you have time to create those wonderful knitted figures gMattie when there is so much else going on in your world. You will have to share your secret.

Well done Urms. That's some achievement.
shock

I shall be glazing my pottery this morning for an exhibition opening on Sunday. I have been known to deliver hot pots to galleries

Yoga later and I think. I'm expecting a couple to stay for a fortnight, later today but they've gone mysteriously quiet.

Have a day full of joy everyone. Thanks for the photo Greyduster

EkwaNimitee Tue 01-Nov-22 08:54:08

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle where the sun is losing out to the increasing cloud. Another showery day ahead I expect.
I'm staying in especially as I have a longish drive tomorrow to get the car serviced and have its first MOT. I'll occupy myself with a bit of housework and laundry this morning and more entertaining stuff this afternoon. It's a rule of the house that I don't do housework after lunch.

I hope Ash is comfortable and getting on well and will soon be home.

Very well done Urmston, it's usually a struggle to lose weight as you get older so you're inspirational.
I lost 20lb inadvertently during my house move, in spite of eventually stuffing myself silly every day to stop it. It was stress of course but I don't advocate getting stressed to lose weight!
Two thirds has crept back on. I know why. Too many higher calorie refined carb treats so I've cut them out and 2lbs has gone. It's definitely a case of healthy eating in modest portions if you want to keep weight off.

Well, I'm off for some exercise now....with the vacuum cleaner so I'll wish you all a pleasant day.

harrigran Tue 01-Nov-22 08:56:22

Good morning from a sunny NE.
No callers at my door last night but I did not have any lights on downstairs.
Spent day washing and ironing.
DD and SIL are coming today and taking me to Durham for lunch.
My thoughts are with Ashcombe, hope post op care goes smoothly and she is on the road to recovery.
Love the nativity figures grandMattie, you are very talented.

BlueSapphire Tue 01-Nov-22 09:07:04

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton with rain forecast later, so not sure yet whether to venture out for our health walk or not after lunch.

Had a good yoga session yesterday with a packed room, barely space to stretch! Then home where I had a late brunch, then spent the afternoon changing the bed and general tidying upstairs. Need to Hoover up there this morning. Having ordered a double winter duvet for a DGD's bedroom, I found one stashed under her bed...... Apparently I can return it so long as I don't open the packaging.

Hope all is going well for Ash, and that she makes a speedy recovery.
Lovely Nativity, grandMattie.

I need to pick up button-band stitches today on the cardigan I am making for an elderly friend, which I will do if it is too wet for our health walk. Need daylight to do that.

Wishing all a pleasant White Rabbits day! (My youngest sister's birthday, the baby of the family is now 68!).

Sar53 Tue 01-Nov-22 09:12:52

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea. We had a lot of rain in the night but it appears to have gone now.

I have woken up with another headache this morning, the third day in a row. I'm not sure why, I appear to be sleeping ok.

Some admin to do today plus vacuum the floors.

Sending my best wishes to Ash for a speedy recovery and to anyone else who is ill.

Have the best Tuesday you can, much love xxx

aggie Tue 01-Nov-22 09:17:08

Good morning everyone from a cold Co Armagh, and my heating is not working
Thick cardi and warm trousers the dress code for today
I’ve spent ages on the phone , sent pictures of various components and hope it can be fixed this WEEK !!!

luluaugust Tue 01-Nov-22 09:18:13

Good morning all from a windy, dull W Kent. Driving today to see a friend for coffee. She holds strong political opinions so I shall sit back and enjoy the biscuits. After a quick lunch I am out for afternoon tea with another friend, she is moving house so probably shan't be required to say much there either. Considering I was always thought to be a chatterbox I think I do well!
Very best wishes to all, love the nativity I must try and see if I can still knit.
