Baggs this must be so hard for you on so many levels.
My heart goes out to you.
No wonder you weep. x

hulahoop Sun 13-Nov-22 21:28:40

Take it easy Sue.Welcome back Urmslooks like you need a talk with your sister and explain how phone calls are upsetting you Baggs. Good night all .

Blossoming Sun 13-Nov-22 21:29:27

I am so sorry you are having such distress from your sister’s phone calls Baggs. At the moment you need support and while I’m sure your sister is upset about her niece’s cancer she needs to put your feelings before her own. She may actually think her calls are supportive. If you can’t broach the matter yourself could your DH or another family member have a quiet word with her?

I too hope your daughter and her family live well in the time remaining. ❤️

Your pain is so palpable. Never have I wished more that we really could have a kitchen group hug in real life.

Jaxjacky Sun 13-Nov-22 21:57:32

Baggs I’m lost for words, thinking of you. ❤️

BladeAnnie Sun 13-Nov-22 22:18:42

Baggs 🌷🌷 there are no words 💗

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 13-Nov-22 22:28:34

Baggs, I am so sorry there are no words I can offer. 💐

swampy1961 Sun 13-Nov-22 22:36:07

Baggs - so sorry to hear your sad news.

Get an answering machine and if you use a mobile phone set the unwanted numbers to go to answer machine. Then you can deal with the calls on your terms or not - as the case maybe.

Dearest Baggs 💐 and a hug.

BigBertha1 Mon 14-Nov-22 06:57:39

Hello I pop in here now and again to sit by the Age but don't join in just soak up the kindly atmosphere. I do just want to send my very good wishes to Baggs. Xx

GrannyGravy13 Mon 14-Nov-22 07:14:04

Dear Baggs sending you (((hugs))) I have no words to take away your pain and sorrow.

Could your DH have a discreet word with your sister?

cornergran Mon 14-Nov-22 07:14:29

Please share whatever helps baggs, we’re all here to listen. Your sister will, I hope, have no idea of the impact of her calls. No easy answer other than avoid or ask someone to have a gentle word with her. You don’t need to do this. Sending love and a hug. Your daughter is never far from my thoughts.

Naughtyneine Mon 14-Nov-22 08:15:50

I was going to write a screed about being back and what we did in Cornwall but it would be totally inappropriate having read your post Baggs. Would you be happy writing to your sister.. maybe in a pretty card to soften the message. Just say to her that you know how much she loves you and your daughter but that you need to deal with what's happening differently to her and for you talking doesn't help and makes it harder for you not better. I'm sure she will understand and writing it down will get it off your chest too ...but in a kind way if you know what I mean. Xx

Afternoon kitcheners. So far today I'm coping better with childcare than my day last week. Dgs2 and I have been for a walk to the swings and round the houses. He's had some lunch and is currently destroying my living room. I'll pick up dgs1 in an hour from nursery and drop them home at quarter to five. Being out for a walk definitely helps to split the day. Have a good afternoon kitcheners

brook2704 Mon 14-Nov-22 15:15:20

Awww grandmabatty so pleased to hear your day is going well, it’s definitely very hard work looking after two little ones on your own. I hope DGS1 has had a good day at nursery
Baggs ❤️

Thinking of you Baggs🌹

soop Mon 14-Nov-22 16:02:27

Dearest Baggs, having just this minute read your message, all that I can offer is my love. flowers

Hello, swampy1961 Wise words.

Welcome, BigBertha1

An afternoon for catching up with the ironing duties. I've already managed to melt a vast hole in Mr Soop's pyjama bottoms. We now have a large stock of dusters!

Wednesday is a trip to Oban hospital day for Mr Soop's appointment with the hematologist (shouldn't that be haematologist?) Spell checker corrected me. We can pop into the big Tesco store and buy him a smart pair of replacement pj's.

Still waiting for the phone call that will establish measurements for the hernia support. The swelling is noticeable in spite of baggy tops. Hey ho!

My best wishes to all our lovely Kitcheners. Back to the ironing board. smile moon

O Baggs My heart goes out to you. My sister was in a similar position 2 years ago and found calls from some people very upsetting (this was not the intentions of the callers). Her three other adult children answered the call if they were there or pre-empted the call by ringing said person and saying they would update her from time to time as 'mum' was finding it difficult to keep repeating etc. etc. or really whatever you think your sister could cope with. My sister would then call when she felt up to it - it seemed to work OK. Just a thought that you might find useful.
Look after yourself, much love xx

gillgran Mon 14-Nov-22 16:23:56

Warm thoughts for you all, especially those with extra worries just now.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Neine I would love to hear about your Cornish adventures when you feel the time is right. I’m glad your day is going well GrandmaBatty and I hope the fresh air has helped clear your head of that nasty cold.

Hello BigBertha1 I’m glad you find some comfort and kindness in this kitchen.

Hope you get that call soon Soop, is there anyone you can contact to gee them up?

I’m typing this wearing my Nike running gloves, they’re quite warm and they have tech enabled finger pads which I’ve not bothered with before. Not as warm as the Raynauds gloves though so I’m going to swap gloves again once I finish typing this. Speaking of running, today is a good balance day so for the first time in ages I have been jogging up and down our hall. I can get quite a decent stretch from the front door, down the hallway and through the house to the back door with a quick circuit of the kitchen grin. I used to love running way back in the distant past and it cheers me up immensely when I manage to galumph down the hall! Small pleasures 🏃🏻‍♀️

Good afternoon dear kitcheners - just popping in to say hello at the same time as finishing off my Sainsbury's order. I always think I've done really well then we check the order together and Mr BA soon puts paid to that 😂😂. It's always something on offer that we really NEED to have!! Fresh pasta with pancetta tonight in tomato and mozzarella sauce - so easy 😊 Enjoy the rest of Monday. TOYA

Jaxjacky Mon 14-Nov-22 17:44:37

Hi all, well done Blossoming!
I hope you’re recovering well SueD and taking it easy.
You exhaust me reading your adventures with your grandchildren Grandmabatty hope your feet are up now.
We’ve just had a heavy shower after a grey dreary day. I’ve been on the voluntary phone today, just finished, an easy dinner then quiz night in our local
Enjoy your evening all.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 14-Nov-22 17:58:29

It’s been a grey day here, and I had to put on a coat to go to the gym.

Finished all the ironing this afternoon and prepped ingredients for a Thai Green Curry for dinner later.

Baggs 💐💐💐

Brook, Blossoming and Jaxjacky I am sitting on the couch watching an old film while my chips cook in the air fryer. Thank you for your concern all. Funnily enough I'm not as exhausted as I was last week despite being up much earlier.(5.30am) of course, I might crash and burn soon. I hope the weather is holding up for you Brook and your hands are on the mend Blossoming. Enjoy your quiz Jaxjacky. I love a good quiz. Your dinner sounds delicious BladeAnnie. You have so much to contend with Soop but just get on with things. You're an inspiration. TOYA. See you tomorrow kitcheners.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 14-Nov-22 18:39:29

Hello everyone! I had another morning of WI admin and I need to do a bit more tomorrow! I spent the afternoon at my friend’s Craft Group. There were six of us making Christmas cards and gift tags. We also drank copious cups of tea and ate cake! It is OH’s turn to cook dinner tonight so I’m catching up with the news. Soop - hope you get sorted soon. My GP has decided I should do a 24-hour urine test so I must collect a receptacle from the Health Centre tomorrow! She also wants me to have yet another blood test.
