Good evening dear Kitcheners and a happy St. Andrews Day. Mr. B has done the supermarket shop and the bakery collection, he said the shelves in Lidl are well stocked. I have done the meter readings and it doesn’t look as though our bill will be horrendous. Tonight’s tea will probably be something on toast as neither of us is particularly hungry.
I’m glad your appointment has been productive Soop and I hope the suggestions for management help.
It’s been really cold and grey here today, it’s dark by 4pm and the temperature has not got over 4°C. I think hibernating is a good idea Grandmabatty, glad you enjoyed your visit Nannytopsy.
I always get my iPads from JL LadyLFL as the extended warranties are a bonus. Which iPhone did you go for? Mr. B is looking to upgrade his rather old phone.

It’s been niggling at me all day that the date was one I should remember Blossoming. Thanks for helping me out.grin I’ll be interested to see the advice you get re iPads and phones, my iPad which I got from John Lewis too needs replacing. I’ll probably decide to wait until my eyes are slightly better ( hopefully) though.

I’m glad that you’ve had some advice soop, and hope the support you’ve ordered makes a big difference for you.

cornergran Wed 30-Nov-22 19:16:58

Hello everyone. Busy day here, mostly productive although I came away from a meeting at our very large group practice with my spirits in my boots and a serious hope we don’t need urgent access to a GP.

Off along two motorways and over the bridge tomorrow to see our friend of broken neck fame. She’s booked a table for us to have what sounds like a very nice meal together. The only down side is the weather forecast, fog sums it up. Must allow extra time

Relieved you are being offered such compassionate care soop, good to know

Another one here with an on its last legs ipad. Changing it feels a mountain too far. I keep adding ‘in the new year’ to any suggested changes about anything, could regret that strategy come January grin

Feet up time now. Take care everyone.

‘Evening All’

We’ve had a lovely boozy afternoon in the centre of Manchester with Himself’s brothers and their wives. We went on the train from the station opposite. Easio! No cost either as we have our pensioner passes. We left just the pub just after 5pm - it’s nice to get home before the Loony Tunes take over.

I showered whilst food was cooking. Sausages and onions in the oven, left over veg from last night in the frying pan on a low light. Himself washed up and we are settled for the evening, cosy, full and grateful we’ve had such an enjoyable yet different family time.

Glad to hear your appointment went well soop and hope the support (both the physical one and the verbal advice) works well and you will soon be much more comfortable.

BladeAnnie Wed 30-Nov-22 19:44:17

Good evening dear kitcheners from our lovely little cottage - I could live here but I think I'd miss DGC too much 💗💗. Anyway no luck last night for us with the northern lights BUT Mr BA managed to set his camera and tripod up and capture sone amazing shots of the night sky 🌙🌟. Pleased to hear you are in the right hands soop but it's just another "thing" to deal with isn't it?? TOYA 🌷

Jaxjacky Wed 30-Nov-22 20:33:36

Hi all, a productive day, made loads of stuffing, the oven was on for the longest time it’s been on for a good few months. I also found out our local Coop sells individual stamps, so all Christmas cards are ready to post.
Hopefully your advice yesterday will help a lot soop.
Enjoy your evening all x

Blossoming Wed 30-Nov-22 21:15:14

Well done on the prep Jax, I may need some more stamps but Morrisons have them at the news kiosk.
That sounds like a good boozy afternoon Urms, it’s a long time since I enjoyed one of those.
Dusty and Corner my current iPad is a mini5, I found it ideal when I was still working and occasionally traveling about as it fits perfectly in a shoulder bag. My pick of the bunch of the latest 2022 models would be the iPad Air if size wasn’t a consideration.

Hellogirl1 Wed 30-Nov-22 22:02:49

Good to hear that you`re being treated well and with consideration Soop. I hope the support helps you feel more comfortable.
Still waiting on a funeral date for our David. His poor wife is all at sixes and sevens, feeling lost.

soop Thu 01-Dec-22 12:28:44

Hellogirl1 We wish that we could be of some usefulness at this distressing time for all your lovely family. Stay strong. It's what you do with good grace. flowers

soop Thu 01-Dec-22 12:35:17

Urms That sounds like a "cracking" day. I would have been with you in spirit. wink

BladeAnnie Continue to enjoy every moment of your well-deserved break.

corner We travelled through patchy fog from Kintyre to Glasgow. It is, I agree, disorientating. Safe travels, dear lady.

Maw It was good to have your company again. Please do not desert us.

MawtheMerrier Thu 01-Dec-22 14:00:23

I wouldn’t desert the kitchen Soop although it might be hard to spot me under my Michelin man disguise of - a long sleeved thermal vest, a cashmere/merino cowl neck sweater (v warm) and a woollen coatigan. Trousers of course and two pairs of knee socks. Any more layers and I won’t fit through the door!

soop Thu 01-Dec-22 15:53:24

Maw You are one of us lot. Stay warm. I am totally in favour of comfort over glam.

I am about to watch a little football. Not that I am a huge fan. It is an excuse to put my feet up and sup tea.

Jax Your baking looks mouthwateringly delicious.

Tomorrow, I am having my hair trimmed. It is naturally curly/unruly and ultra-fine. The stylist likes to razor cut it.

Ali23 Thu 01-Dec-22 16:37:40

Soop, enjoy the hairdressers. My hair is the opposite… straight and baby fine. I’ve just had my haircut in front of the bathroom mirror. A little and often seems to work best for me 😊

soop Thu 01-Dec-22 16:54:05

Ali23 If I'm chuffed with my trim, I may be tempted to share a pic with you lovely lot.

I'm away until tomorrow morning. Stay safe and keep warm. smile moon

Yiayia4 Thu 01-Dec-22 17:27:36

Hope they can sort you out Soop.
Had my hair done today short, trendy cut and highlights.Just what I needed on this dismal cold foggy day.
Kind thoughts Hellogirl.
Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

SueDonim Thu 01-Dec-22 18:00:45

It must the day for hair. I’ve had mine cut this afternoon. I feel fortunate to have discovered a new stylist who ‘gets’ my wavy, wiry hair and doesn’t try to put layers into it!

I’ve also been beetling about doing Christmassy things like posting cards (only A-N of my address book so far grin) and buying gifts and food items. For the first time in many years and maybe ever, I’ve bought a Xmas cake. Aldi’s Specially Selected ranked v high in a taste test so that’s what I got.

We’re going to the cinema this evening. I’m kindly accompanying Dh to a screening of a documentary about Neil Young. I don’t mind NY but a 2hr movie? I deserve a Good Wife award! 😂

TOYA.
Xxx

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Dec-22 18:09:16

Suedonim my exh was obsessed with Neil Young and we named our son after him! You are doing a very kind thing

Nannytopsy Thu 01-Dec-22 18:34:40

Poorly DGD all day - very high temperature which needed both nurofen and calpol to bring it down. I suspect she will be back tomorrow!
The gardener’s coming tomorrow to help me. I use the term gardener loosely…

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 01-Dec-22 18:38:27

Hello everyone. Well, OH’s cough and cold (not Covid, he did a test) had improved enough to go out for lunch. We went to my favourite restaurant and had a delicious meal. OH had baked Camembert and slow cooked pork. I had smoked salmon and fillet steak medallions - see the yummy picture! We shared sticky toffee pudding and ice-cream. We spent the rest of the afternoon feeling full. I am out again shortly at a friend’s house. I heard from my sister in Australia today. She hopes that she can come over next year for my 70th. My brother has already said he would come. Enjoy your evening.

Jaxjacky Thu 01-Dec-22 19:10:00

Looks yum llfl, coincidentally we’re having similar tonight, but not fillet and packet sauce!
Cards posted, a chilly, but sunny walk to the post box this morning. It’s been a lovely day, but MrJ scraped ice before work at 7:20am, I remember doing the same so many times.
The stuffing is a ‘secret’ recipe from my dear Dad, he used to distribute it to us children, as I do now with mine.
Enjoy your evening x

brook2704 Thu 01-Dec-22 20:03:51

Hi to all my lovely kitchen pals, I didn’t get chance to post yesterday as we were out all evening at the beautiful lit up botanical gardens in Malaga. A really stunning display, I’ve been so impressed with all the Christmas lights and displays going on here. Nothing like it at home in Inverness!
Today we’ve been along the coast a bit to Arroyo and then down to the marina. Thanks Urms for your very good recommendations, we had a lovely day wandering round and did a bit of shopping too. Then lunch at Metro as you suggested, it was delicious. When we got back to Malaga we saw a pop up free flamenco concert just on the main road so stopped to watch for a while. I’m not sure if it’s really my thing but we gave it a go - olé
Hoping your DGD is feeling much better soon nannytopsy
Lots of new hair dos today - mine really needs doing too when I get home, I’ve definitely got holiday hair!
Take care all and have a lovely evening

brook2704 Thu 01-Dec-22 20:06:27

Oh and this is for Urms , we didn’t get time to go in but it looked lovely with all the Christmas decorations!

Urmstongran Thu 01-Dec-22 20:08:29

‘Evening All’

wow LLFL that meal looks amazing! I’m envious, probably because I’ve just had a bowl of cornflakes.
😁

We went to the Trafford Centre on the bus. Only 7 minutes. I timed it - yes I’m getting that sad. Bought what was on my list and we were on the bus home 2 hours later. Got off at Sainsbury’s very handy. No queues. Fairly quiet. I bought a really nice long sleeved top in FatFace for my book club meal a week tomorrow. The assistant asked ‘have you come far?’ (Made me think of the late Queen). She said she’d just served a lady who had travelled up from Aberystwyth! Blimey O’Riley. I’d no more dream of travelling all that way for a day at the shops than I’d contemplate a trip to the moon.

Urmstongran Thu 01-Dec-22 20:12:30

👋 brook thanks for the photo! When I mention in January where we are eating after enjoying a cocktail you’ll be able to place me now! The marina looks really pretty on a winter’s night, all lit up.

Grandmabatty

Suedonim my exh was obsessed with Neil Young and we named our son after him! You are doing a very kind thing

That’s funny, Grandmabatty! grin We collected a random selection of chaps called Neil in our last house. Our vet (well, our cats’ vet, though I’d have been happy to have him as my doctor 😂) was called Neil, as was the guy who did our boiler and an odd-job man we had.

The film turned out to be rather good and I enjoyed it! I don’t have a musical bone in my body, although I like to listen to it, so films about how they make music fascinate me. There was quite a long section where NY was working with the London Symphony Orchestra and how they battled to get the sound he wanted. It was also mind-boggling to see that all the members of the orchestra were male, apart from possible one women. How times have changed, thank goodness!

I also noted that Neil Young wasn’t a grumpy old man back in 1971, although I don’t think he’s taken a brush to his hair since then. 🤣
