Update... We are not going...I have been rumbled...I had a message from DOH saying...Do you NOT want to go to Portugal...I blustered and asked him why he was asking... His response was that he had a gut feeling I didn't want to go. I couldn't then lie so I blurted out all my worries and not wanting to let him down etc etc. His response was .. You should have told me.... It's fine we'll do a road trip down to Cornwall and walk on the beach holding hands even if it's windy and rainy.... If I didn't (and I do) wondered why I love this man so much... It's for reasons like this.. he followed it up with ...as long as I'm with you ..I don't care where we go. I can't tell the relief I'm feeling... It's washed over me like a warm shower. I hope you lovely folks will understand...and not think me too mad. Cornwall here we come.....oh and he did say next year.. we will go on a properly organised holiday where you can be happy and relax. I'll go with that....

Hello dear Kitcheners, I just typed a long post and I lost it!

Happy Birthday Yia. Glad you enjoyed your meal Soop.

Neine I used to be an intrepid traveller Pre-Covid but now I feel like I don’t want to go anywhere. Then once I get there I have a whale of a time. It will do you both so much good, please try not to stress x

I’m having a good day. This morning the hospital pinged me to tell me to check the patient portal. I have an appointment with a consultant ophthalmologist at Lancashire Eye Centre on 9th December. I have lots of questions to ask so I must make a list. This afternoon I have been to the hairdresser and now feeling all swishy and lovely!

Apologies if I missed anything but I can’t remember what I wrote earlier grin

The weather has turned yuck now after a sunny day so I will snuggle down in the kitchen with a blanket.

Prentice Fri 04-Nov-22 16:45:06

That looks a lovely beach Jaxjacky
What a lovely Autumn we are having, a good time to visit as many places as possible before Winter sets in.
I have been cooking apples today, to freeze for puddings, and then walking the dog, he needs his daily long walk or becomes a nuisance around the house.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 04-Nov-22 16:46:02

Hi kitcheners, just a quick pop in and straight out.

We have had The Imp since pick up from nursery at noon, he was a live wire 🤣

I am off to shower and slap on the makeup and dress as we are going out to dinner with two other couples who are very dear friends. Lots of chatter and laughter to look forward to.

TOYA 🙋‍♀️

Blossoming Fri 04-Nov-22 16:47:52

Neine sorry, crossed posts! I wish I could type faster. What a wonderful man you have, relax now and enjoy your evening flowers

Blossoming Fri 04-Nov-22 16:48:51

Have a lovely evening GG

GrammarGrandma Fri 04-Nov-22 17:00:03

Nice to be here! I've had so many visits from family and friends lately that it's nice to put my feet up and have your new butler bring me a plate of delicious vegetarian food to eat on my lap.

Just made a vegan dish for a family get-together buffet on Sunday to celebrate someone's 80th birthday. And we have to make a curry for DD, DSiL and their two children tomorrow, but after that it will be a much more peaceful and relaxing time for a while, until the C-word kicks in. But I'm not going to think about that at the moment!

soop Fri 04-Nov-22 17:01:24

Neine All is well. Relax and have a happy, trouble-free evening. smile

Enjoy a well-deserved (you-time) treat, GrannyGravy X

Blossoming More positive news. smile The image that I have of "swishy lovely" you is a befitting way to close my visit to the kitchen.

I still haven't had the brew I talked about some time ago.

A group hug for all you lovely lot. I shall return tomorrow. smile moon

soop Fri 04-Nov-22 17:04:13

Sorry, GrammarGrandma, our posts coincided. Please, spare me the C word for a wee while longer. wink

Urmstongran Fri 04-Nov-22 17:27:39

‘Evening All’

Instead of ‘Dixon’ tonight, I thought I’d share this photo taken late morning on our walk into Torremolinos. It was a beautiful warm day. Just perfect for strolling about in a summer dress and sandals. The pretty blossom is still on the trees. Some streets away from the main tourist drag are a delight to meander through.
😎

kittylester Fri 04-Nov-22 17:53:03

Cool, it doesn't half get busy in here.

Welcome to all newcomers especially if you've brought cake.

Had a bit of a fraught day with DD1 being in hospital (she's home now) and my lovely singing teacher having an infected wisdom tooth - both of whom feel the need to send lots of whatsapps.

My memory can't take in everything (will it get better?) but sending gentle hugs to all with worries for their children - been there lots of times one way and another.

I can understand your feelings Neine and hope you have a lovely time in Cornwall instead.

Good luck with the hunt for the stoma nurse, Soop. Glad you had an enjoyable lunch. Gg enjoy your evening out.

Urms what a lovely photo.

Sending love and apologies to anyone I've missed! TOYA

Good evening lovely Kitcheners.
Grandson has just gone home he was lovely tonight❤️ and a good day at school. I’ve a glass of wine so cheers to you all🍷

Naughtyneine I’m so pleased your plans are changed for your piece of mind and what a gem your OH is. We’ll look forward to hearing about your Cornwall holiday with maybe a pic or two.

Urmstongran I love your pic. You are lucky to be able to go when you want. We talk about maybe having a holiday home. Too much watching A place in the sun X

Kitty so pleased your DD is home from hospital 💐 hope she’s feeling ok x

I had a call from my Dad today to say he couldn’t have his cattaract done because he has scabies of all things!
He was itching when we were in Menorca. The dr said it’s likely he caught it in Spain and brought it back. My stepmum hasn’t picked it up from him.
We had it when we were kids because my Stepfather brought it back from Saudi. It’s not nice at all.
Enjoy your evening everyone. 🍷🌻

Urmstongran Fri 04-Nov-22 18:14:11

kitty glad to hear your daughter is back home. She’s been through a lot. It must be a very emotional time for you all. x

Enjoy your evening out GG13 bet you’ll love adult company (and drinks!) after being with the full on 3y old IMP!

You will enjoy your holiday better now Neine regardless of weather because you’re no longer anxious. As the saying goes anyway ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather only inappropriate clothing’.
😉

BladeAnnie Fri 04-Nov-22 18:19:50

Good evening dear kitcheners - I've been missing for a couple of days and so much news to catch up with!! I'll go back later and read everyone's busy-ness but in the meantime sending out a gentle group hug. BTW I haven't actually reached the big 6-0 yet - later in the month 🍾🍸

brook2704 Fri 04-Nov-22 18:38:36

So good to hear your DD is home now kitty, hoping she’s feeling much better

A very Happy Birthday Yia hoping you’re enjoying your very special day 🎂❤️🎉💐🥂

I’m just in from the hairdressers after a much needed colour and cut. My hair is getting so fine though I wish I could thicken it up somehow. We’re away to Spain on Sunday naughtyneine, your post got me thinking too but I know I definitely want to go! Your DH sounds so nice and caring and I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time in Cornwall, it’s another one of my favourite places.

I think we’ve walked up that big hill Jax when we were there in August!

Hoping your Dad gets his cataract done soon Shazza

Blossoming Fri 04-Nov-22 19:24:47

So glad to see your daughter’s home Kitty and thank you for that beautiful photo Urms.

Jaxjacky Fri 04-Nov-22 20:20:14

Thought you’d recognise it brook, no hill walking for us. It’s where Broadchurch was filmed Prentice, not as warm looking as yours Urms.
Glad your daughter is home kitty.
Enjoy your fun evening GG13, sounds like a dose of medicine.
neine, I’m with you, it’s unlikely we’ll get on an airplane again, ferry yes, all down to me I’m afraid. MrJ understands, I’m lucky he just knows.
*You sound a vision of loveliness Blossoming, I don’t think my unruly mop will ever be swishy!
Enjoy your evening all, especially our birthday lady x

SueDonim Fri 04-Nov-22 20:30:52

Thank you for all your thoughts re my son. I’m almost too scared to be pleased at the latest news in case they’ve got it wrong - do you understand what I mean? The human mind works in mysterious - and ridiculous - ways. I need to give myself a slap and be more grateful. I do so think of others in the same position, Kitty and Baggs both come to mind. flowers

Neine, that sounds the best option, in the end. It wouldn’t have been much of a holiday if you spent it worrying.

Yia and others - panic attacks are grim, even when you know what’s happening and that it’ll subside eventually. As a friend said to me, it’s like our brain is shrieking ‘Bear! Bear! There’s a bear, run away!’ but we’re unable to move and are paralysed with fright. flowers

Hello to the new Kitcheners. Nanna8 am I right in thinking you’re in Australia? How many hours ahead of the UK are you?

Your poor dad, Shazza! shock. My dil once travelled on a plane when she suddenly realised there were bedbugs crawling about in the upholstery of the seats. Yuk!

I’m so envious of that warmth, Urms. What is the tree in your photo?

A joiner came today and did some work in the house. You’d think being brand new, nothing would need doing, but it does. Small things such as hooks for coats, curtain poles etc. I also ordered two extra units for the kitchen and my goodness what a difference it’s made to being to put everything away and freeing up worktop.

He’s also built a run of bookcases so the books can now be liberated from their boxes in the garage.

I’m visiting my mum tomorrow. She’s been getting on ok at home but this week they didn’t come to change the dressing on a leg ulcer as planned. When they did turn up, it was infected and she is now on antibiotics. Even then, the chemist said they couldn’t deliver until next Monday! Thankfully someone was able to get them for her. Another day the carers didn’t turn up until mid-morning so mum spent 14 hours in bed, from 8:30pm to 10:30am. I’m glad I arranged for her to have a hospital bed installed so at least her skin was protected a bit.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend. TOYA. xxx

brook2704 Fri 04-Nov-22 20:46:29

Such a shame your mum is suffering like that SueD I hope things improve a bit for her soon and she enjoys your visit

Chrissielou Fri 04-Nov-22 21:05:35

SueDonim such good news, I'm so pleased for you. When my DD1 was given the news that she was in remission we just looked at each other in shock. It was more than we had ever dare hope, she had been stage 4 and so ill. There is always hope and treatments are very effective now.
Sending a big hug to Kittylester and her DD too, our girls have been through such difficult times.
We are very cosy on this chilly Friday night, sitting in front of the fire with our lovely dog snuggled beside us.
Good night to all those in the kitchen this evening.

Blossoming Fri 04-Nov-22 21:35:24

Jax funnily enough my hairdresser said today’I love how your hair goes all swishy when I dry it grin And to think I used to envy people with curls!

SueD it’s hard to feel like celebrating when you’ve been so worried, your son still has a journey in front of him x

Urmstongran Fri 04-Nov-22 21:42:54

SueD I believe the tree is Lagostroemia or Indian Lilac.
Pretty isn’t it?
Torremolinos gets a bad press. ‘Tacky’ etc but along the back streets it’s different again, where the locals live.

I remember reading that years ago when ‘foreign travel’ was pretty much only for the rich, Mr & Mrs Terry Wogan had their honeymoon in Torremolinos. In the 1960’s.

cornergran Fri 04-Nov-22 21:49:41

That sounds better kitty. Worry not about not recalling everyone’s news in the kitchen, I can’t either, just too busy in here.

Enjoy Cornwall neine, the right decision for sure.

Pleased lunch was enjoyable soop. We’ll see good friends next week and I’m looking forward to a long chatty meal already.

One of ours lost his job through redundancy earlier this year. He’s loving his new post and is now anxious as his probationary period is up at the end of the month. Like many an organisation his new employer is working with reduced order books, all I can do is make positive noises to him while not sharing my own anxiety with him.

Decent, sunny day here today. I’ve not been out, other than to restrain my hairdressers enthusiasm for her scissors. Managed to catch up a bit and enjoyed three phone chats with friends. One was to our friend still in hospital, 14 weeks now. She’s recovered remarkably well from covid and today was able to sustain a chat for 15 minutes before her ability to concentrate was impaired. A mix of the aftermath of a brain bleed and the onset of dementia is gradually taking her further and further away. Today was a good one for us both.

I do understand the holding back from believing good news sued, each day will help you believe more. I’m sorry there is so much worry with your Mum, hope tomorrow can be a positive visit.

Oh well, nearly time for bed. I’ve been snoozing on the sofa. Good idea? Probably not, grin.

Rest well everyone.

Naughtyneine Sat 05-Nov-22 11:44:53

Thank you for all your kind comments...I feel like a different person today. Stupid isn't it. I knew I would only find kindness and understanding here...and I found it in abundance. Xx

soop Sat 05-Nov-22 12:42:20

Naughtyneine It was not stupid in the least. It was perfectly understandable to feel unsettled and apprehensive. You and your dear husband will enjoy your Cornish holiday next year. sunshine

corner Your post is very eloquent. smile

Chrissielou Your message to SueDonim is inspiring. flowers

It is our daughter-in-law's birthday today. We posted her gift over a week ago. It hasn't arrived. I phoned the Royal Mail helpline and the background music, together with the chirpy repeated apologies for the lengthy delay drove me to distraction. I live in hope that the gift, like the painting will eventually be delivered.
