Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
7° and rain.
A very pleasant evening with the Americans and a df . I lit the fire and we drank wine.
Fireworks going off loudly so I was explaining about Guy Fawkes. Of course they hadn't heard of him. I don't know why it's a thing in Scotland. I can remember watching guys being burned on the bonfire when I was a child. Terrifying.
I'm baking for the community café and will be driving my DMiL out later.
This afternoon is setting up for our art exhibition.
Busy busy busy.
I hope Ash is ok.
Have a happy day every one

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton. Have put the heating on today as I have the DGDs today and overnight and I want it to be nice and cosy for them. Just watching the England/Canada women's rugby semi-final which I recorded overnight.

Had a good time out at the shops yesterday and came home from Sainsbury's with a new top and a Christmas t-shirt, can't think how they got into my basket.... However I do not like the very different buses and timetable, which is so inconvenient.

DS arrived very unexpectedly early evening with a load of wet washing; apparently their machine had flooded and had sparks coming out of it, they managed to open it and get the load out and of course the first person they thought of was dear old mum..... I couldn't do it for them last night as I was off out to rugby so it is in the machine now.

And then DD turned up to shower and change after her riding lesson, which was another surprise to me, but she swore she had told me last week!

An excellent evening at Saints rugby; the atmosphere was electric and we came away with a good win after a very close match. It was also on tv last night, so I can watch it again later. Was very cold though.

Hoping everyone enjoys their weekend. Happy Fireworks night!

House feels chilly so am putting off getting up for as long as possible. Tuesday and man to sort out boiler feels a long way off! Hoping for news of Ashcombe soon. Concert this evening but not much else planned.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey Hull. Rain forecast later.
Have a lovely time with your family grandMattie.

Urmstongran I love that meal and had it twice in Menorca. Your holiday really sounds lovely.

Beechnut I love twinkles all year round. Even Mr S loves them now. He took a bit of convincing.

This morning DD is bringing baby B over for an hour while she holds an ante natal class and SIL is taking GD to Jujitsu with him.
Tonight we have friends over for a takeaway and drinks to discuss and maybe book a cruise for next year for our 60th birthdays. 4 out of 6 of us will be 60 and us girls will have known each other 45 years. Fireworks tonight will be watched safely from inside the house.

Enjoy your day everyone with lots of family and friend meetings and fireworks. Special thoughts to those suffering family stress and illness. 🌻🌻

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It is dry and here the last two days have been quite pleasant.

I had an easy day yesterday just a gentle stroll to the market in the square. From a bakery stall DH wanted a version of a Fat Rascal called a Bossy Betty! He said it wasn’t a patch on the original one from a certain shop in York.

Not sure of our plans if any today. DH is still asleep. No bonfires around here to go to either. I’ll make do with Strictly.

Safe travels tomorrow Brook have a wonderful time.

Belated Birthday greetings Greyduster 💐

So pleased to hear your journey went well after your anxiety GM and you received a warm welcome.

Thinking of Ash hope she is making progress 💐

Take care everyone.

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Glad you arrived safely GM and what a lovely welcome enjoy your break.
A chill day methinks then over to our friends in Redditch this evening.
Well my full English is calling so will catch up with everybody's news later.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some 🌞.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. A quiet Saturday looms. I’ve got to pop into my nearby town for one or two things, including flowers from the market. I had another text from the curtain people yesterday to say they are about to despatch our finished curtains! I’m looking forward to hanging them in the lounge. I think I might start on some C lists! Apart from that, there are always books to read and the papers. Have a good weekend everyone 💐

Grandmabatty Sat 05-Nov-22 07:56:06

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and grey and damp. Such a change from yesterday.
I hope Ash is recovering well. Brook enjoy your holiday tomorrow.
Yesterday I got some of the garden swept and a final weeding done. I have a big pile of leaves still to dispose of.
Today I'll mosey over to Aldi for food and do some housework before the boys arrive this afternoon to destroy my good work! Dd and sil are going to buy their Christmas presents so I'll have them for an hour or so. Dd begins work next Tuesday and she likes to be organised. Later on I'll watch strictly. Have a good day all

Morning Mick, morning All from a very wet corner of Somerset.

Yesterday went well. The hairdresser and I came to a compromise over scissor wielding. Three enjoyable telephone chats and managed to do some sorting. No idea about the shape of today, had hoped for a walk, the grey skies aren’t offering much encouragement.

A lovely greeting grandMattie, pleased the journey wasn’t too arduous. Good luck to your grandson. greyd, hope he does well. Hope you get good news about your daughter later kitty. Our Ash is in my thoughts.

Hope Saturday is gentle with us all.

ginny Sat 05-Nov-22 07:46:00

Good morning everyone. Up bright (?)and early as DGS 3 stayed over last night.
He will be collected by his Daddy and brother later on.
Then shopping to do and if it stays dry we’ll have a tidy up in the garden.
Lots of small jobs to do as we have a very busy week before we go away
Wishing all a good day with relief from any worries or illness.

Marydoll Sat 05-Nov-22 07:45:57

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is currently 7°C.

Mick, as someone one who has COPD and heart issues, struggling with breathlessness, I was intrigued by your mention of a "respirator" yesterday. I have never heard of them. Could you please elaborate?

Glad to hear that you arrived safely, GM, enjoy your time with your family.

I have no plans at all for today, apart from taking up a hem on DH's new golfing trousers and hopefully getting to the Vigil Mass tonight.
I am the Saturday evening sacristan, but sadly have given up my duties for the present, due to my ongoing ill health.
Apparently, I have been "missed", which is always nice to hear.
It will be good to catch up on all the parish gossip! 😉

Enjoy your day folks, sending good wishes to the poorly DDs and Ash and anyone else, who is struggling.

Urmstongran Sat 05-Nov-22 07:44:19

No Matt he must be on holiday.

Good morning everyone from sunny Málaga 😎 it’s absolutely gorgeous already. This weather, considering it’s November, is fantastic. Honestly it’s more like September.

I slept like the proverbial last night I’ve not been long awake. Must have been all that walking into Torremolinos and BACK yesterday!

We will go out somewhere but more local today I think. Perhaps a walk along the paseo after lunch. We ate out for lunch and dinner yesterday. This was our lunch it was delicious - habitas con jámon. The bodega in Torre is very popular we got the last table and were the only non-Spanish diners. I love eating where the locals do. The noise in the place was deafening at times. The Spanish are so ebullient! Waiters too shouting out to each other and to the bar staff.

Glad to hear you’re safely ensconced in Bristol grandMattie I hope you have a lovely time with your family. Thoughts are with our Ash hope all is well there.

Good morning from a cold but bright Colchester. The heating is on. Rain is forecast for later which is a shame as family are coming over for a fireworks party. We eat sausages, jacket potatoes etc then walk to the field next to our road to watch the park fireworks. A cheap evening. Must dig out my winter raincoat and boots.
Love to all 🦩 x

brook2704 Sat 05-Nov-22 07:30:42

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cold and dry with a lovely pinkish sky
What a lovely welcome gMattie enjoy the time with your family and hope you get a little rest too
Im off to DD2s house later to take DGD to her dance class and then meet up with the others for lunch. Also a FaceTime call with DS later to look forward to. Then back home to finish cleaning and packing before we’re off on holiday tomorrow 😀
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

harrigran Sat 05-Nov-22 07:25:29

Good morning from a cooler but dry NE.
Sunrise this morning is spectacular.
I moved into this house 51 years ago today, I was eight months pregnant with my second baby, gosh how time flies.
Sister and BIL coming this afternoon followed by DS and family, DD says she may pop in to see everyone before she returns home to Belgium tomorrow.
Thinking of all the poorly people.

Greyduster Sat 05-Nov-22 07:00:59

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is just getting light but it’s going to be a grey day I think. Thank you all for your birthday wishes on what was a very hard day for me. I stayed at DDs overnight. We had dinner in a lovely Thai restaurant and then walked up to the Botanical Gardens which were all lit up for the Illuminate the Gardens event (though I much prefer it in the daylight!). It looked wonderful and there was a superb fireworks display. This morning, GS is running in a cross country competition out in the sticks so I may go along and watch before going home.
I too am thinking of Ash. Have the best day you can folks.

Beechnut Sat 05-Nov-22 06:55:02

Good Morning everyone from a dark and damp Severnside.

I was disappointed initially on going to purchase my carpet washer to find none on the shelf. I asked and was told they didn’t have any. Anyway the store has an upstairs section so I went up there to look at a few more things and on my way back to the lift I found four of the item I wanted! I treated myself to a pre lit twig tree as I’ve been wanting one for ages. Last night I put on the heating for the first time and had all my twinkles on.

Hope all is well for you all today. I’ve made a good start by taking my pill for Sunday 🤣

I’ve just had the story of Narcissus read to me in bed by Iris! 🫂❤️❤️

Nannagarra Sat 05-Nov-22 06:45:24

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is currently dark and raining.
How I enjoyed reading your heart-warming post grandMattie. I’m equally surprised at how quiet London was yesterday.
Last night a friend sent me photos of her time at Liverpool’s River of Light Festival. Tempted though I am, I’ve offered to look after DGdog tonight while DS and family attend a firework display.
Thinking of Ashcombe and sending best wishes to everyone.

grandMattie Sat 05-Nov-22 06:15:00

Good morning from as still dark Bristol. It’s pretty cold today again ATM.
The train journey went well, with the usual overcrowded HS1 train to London. Some very nice young men helped me with my case. But I was astonished at how quiet London was. Hardly anyone on the tube platform ditto for the Bristol train.
DD1 flew into my arms for a hug before I had barely set foot outside the station. She wanted to take the bus home as it was “just coming”, but I said we’d have a cab.
Happy reunions with DD and Iris! DD loved her knitivity, the shepherds will join the group when I’ve made them. DSiL came in later.
We’re going to a Son et Lumiere thing at the Cathedral this evening.
Hope everyone has a restful day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️

kittylester Sat 05-Nov-22 06:13:51

Good morning Mick, morning all.

North Leicestershire is very dark and chilly this morning and quite quiet.

There was a theory that DH would be up early to watch the cricket but that hasn't happened. He and DS1 are off to watch football this afternoon so I aim to do some catching up with emails.

DD1 hasn't been in contact yet so I assume all is well and she is catching up on her rest.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning Everybody ,
Its dark as usual but its dry outside , maybe a bit chilly as well .
Today , I will do direct bus to Bicester only as the X5 service as gone hourly and times would mean a arrival there later .
Anyway Guy Falkwes if spelt right today , we have a local community firework display provided at the expense of the Mercedes F1 team who are based in the town this evening.
I have received hospital appointments rearranged for next month in Oxford they seem to work around me as I gave them dates when I have booked coach trips .
Take Care,
Mick
