Being a Yorkshire gran have you been to the model railway exhibition in York? If it’s still on it’s always on around Easter time and with a dad who’s into trains it was always part of our Easter holidays when I lived at home. Mum and I used to go round the shops though.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a grey misty Hull morning.

Brook safe journey to the airport and enjoy your holiday.

grandMattie enjoy sharing your DDs special day.

Sar another proud grandma enjoy the show.

Last night with our friends we discussed a cruise for next September. None of us have ever been on one so it’s a big decision. They all just need to go away and check insurances and finances then hoping to book it in about a week. Dh and I are the healthiest ones among us they all have health conditions which may shoot up insurance costs very high.

I felt last nights fireworks didn’t go on too long but wow there were some spectacular ones from a few doors along which we watched from the doorstep.
Not a lot on today just to pop over to DDs. The Grandaughters visited yesterday and we looked after baby B for an hour or so. At 8 months she likes to walk around while you hold her hands.
We may see son and grandson at some point as well.

Enjoy your day, safe travels. Enjoy family and friends visits. Delicious Sunday lunches and lovely relaxing cosy time 🌻🌻

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where its 8°C.

I too love model train layouts Grey, my cousin gad one as a teenager and I love looking at it. However, I was never allowed to touch it!

I hope your daughter's day goes well, GM and safe journey down to Glasgow and onwards Brook.

I can empathise, Harri, I often feel like that these days, it certainly drags you down.

Enjoy your Sunday, whatever your plans, glad to hear you are getting out Kitty.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Church this morning in a nearby village and then I must sort out some WI admin. I will cook leg of lamb for dinner and assemble an apple crumble for pudding. A friend gave me some apples ages ago which I prepared, poached and froze. I always have crumble mix in the freezer too because I always make too much. Oh, I’ll have to make custard. OH loves custard on a crumble. I made a batch of chocolate sorbet yesterday for the first time in ages. Elder son’s partner expressed an interest last week so I thought I would make some ready for their next visit. I watched the interview with Louis Theroux and Judi Dench last night. Fascinating. Hope we all have a good Sunday.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet and gloomy. Grandmattie what a proud moment for you and your family. Sar and for you too, watching your dgd dance. Brook A ti te gusta viajar en Espana. You can see I'm practising! Have a lovely time.
Yesterday was tiring. Dgs1 was excited to be at my house and was so helpful with dgs2. He's a lovely big brother. Dgs2 was grumpy as he's teething. He's also in to everything so you can't just sit and watch him play. I was constantly rescuing him from kitchen cupboards, bathroom cupboards etc. When he finally went for a nap- not without much complaining - dgs1 and I built a bridge from one couch to another for his train and then a slide made out of cushions. Then he wanted to sit beside me for a cuddle. Dd seemed a bit stressed. I expect she's not wanting to go back to work but is making the most of it.
Today we are having a family breakfast to welcome my aunt and uncle back from Turkey. Then dd or sil will fit the second car seat in my car. It is frustrating me as I just can't work out how the two bits fit together. I don't have the strength either which is also annoying. Anyway, I've nothing else planned for today so have a good day whatever you are doing.

Baggs Sun 06-Nov-22 08:15:30

Good morning from a dreich Argyll. It's supposed to brighten up a bit later but while it's dull I have a cake to make (using up some bruised apples) and a painting to start. DD2 was kind enough to say she liked the last one so I've sent it to her.

An awaiting task is to cut up some branches that I sawed off our neighbour's mahooosive cherry tree that overhangs the top of our drive. I had to cut it because a plumber who came to mend a pipe got his van roof-rack caught in the branches. "Don't worry", I said, "I'll get my chain saw out while you're mending the pipe."

Thing is though, this morning as I was making some tea, and still in dim light, I saw at least four bluetits using the roughly stacked branches and twigs as a feeding station. Then two great-tits came along and joined in. The great-tits, both males, also had a big fight!! So I might leave my naturally artistic pile of sticks where it is and hang a fat ball there over the winter.

That apple cake might be a crumble....

Congratulations to your daughter, GM, and Gingster I love that leaf art!

ShazzaKanazza Sun 06-Nov-22 08:17:15

Enjoy getting out of the house Kitty💐

Ginster I love the leaf picture that’s very clever.

Hope you are feeling a little better today Marydoll x

dragonfly46 Sun 06-Nov-22 08:26:35

Crossed posts kitty. Enjoy your trip out. It is still sunny here 🤣

Greyduster Sun 06-Nov-22 08:27:07

Yes, the one in York is amazing, grandmadinosaur. Needless to say, the Railway Museum is one of my favourite places.

Greyduster Sun 06-Nov-22 08:30:01

“Don't worry", I said, "I'll get my chain saw out while you're mending the pipe."
Baggs I’m in awe of you, truly!😂

Wyllow3 Sun 06-Nov-22 08:30:09

Grandmadinosaur yes have been to the York model railway in the museum but tbh unless its changed from 2017 when I last went its a bit of a disappointment. All runs smoothly but its very unimaginative. The whole museum tho is wonderful, right next to the station and when I was there what should arrive in but the royal Scotsman!

Good morning everyone from a grey, misty and damp Northampton, rain forecast this afternoon. Am just waiting for the DGDs to appear then I shall get their breakfast on the go.

Spent yesterday afternoon with the younger DGD making the Christmas mince pies, one baking job out of the way. Elder one was at dance classes all day and arrived later. She has pantomime rehearsal all day today, and is being picked up in about an hour, so I have the younger one for pleasant company. Their mum and dad are in London for the weekend, celebrating DD-out-law's big birthday this month.

Nothing else planned so shall just take the day as it comes.
Happy Sunday everyone.

BlueSapphire Sun 06-Nov-22 08:43:00

Some of the mince pies made with DGD yesterday.

aggie Sun 06-Nov-22 08:46:14

Good morning everyone from a sunny Co Armagh ,
DD3 and granddaughter have been here since Thursday, they leave after lunch today, it will be so quiet !
I hope everyone’s health is on the up , I can’t read page one on this thread ! It jumps to page 2 ?

Nannagarra Sun 06-Nov-22 08:53:31

Good morning from Sefton. Gala will be along soon to give you our weather report.
😁
A chance remark last night about fireworks and young children reminded me of a visit to Edinburgh many years ago. We arrived, the car packed to the brim with all the necessaries for two young children, only to discover the double buggy was ‘home alone’. Mothercare didn’t loan but worked really hard to make sure I had one for the week. Whilst DH worked, I explored the city, took a train to Kirkcaldy (which makes me think of mcss ). At every bus stop, set of stairs, revolving door, locals insisted on helping me and were especially friendly. The week ended with a magnificent firework display at Murrayfield. Happy days.
Congrats to your DD gM and what super leaf art that is.
Thinking of those who are poorly and of Ashcombe recovering.
🌸

Jaxjacky Sun 06-Nov-22 08:54:07

Good morning from a rainy S Hants, slept for over 9 hours, can’t beat your own bed.
Proud Mum gMattie and proud grandma Sar, enjoy your events. Red letter day for you kitty, freedom!
Not much on today, finish browsing yesterdays paper , get out for at least a short walk and a small Sainsbury’s click/collect. Farm shop on the way as we need veg, gammon shanks later.
Safe journey brook 🌞
Enjoy your day all 🦩🦩

NannyJan53 Sun 06-Nov-22 08:55:36

Good morning from a dull and very misty Black Country.

We may be going a ride out to Telford to check out various areas and what they are like. MrJ is thinking of buying a property to rent out, and the prices are a lot cheaper than over here!

Enjoy your trip Kitty

I am envious Urms being able to still sit on the beach. Although a month ago we were sitting on the beach at Swanage in early October!

Thoughts with Ashcombe and that she is ok.

monk08 Sun 06-Nov-22 08:57:23

Good morning all from the Black country where it is dry at the moment.
Have only just risen so will read through with my cuppa.
Still no news from Ash let's hope no news means good news.
Roast lamb for dinner and I need to try and find some eggs, neither my local Aldi or Iceland have any.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone and may you all find some 🌞.

baubles Sun 06-Nov-22 08:57:49

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Glad you’re feeling stronger Mick.

Congratulations your DD Mattie.

Safe travels Brook.

Photos of some of our poppy displays. We’ve moved on to Christmas now, I spent ages yesterday joining large granny squares into strips which will be used to cover a metal cone shaped tree which the fabricator has just finished. More angels to make too.

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Sun 06-Nov-22 09:10:09

Good morning Mick and everyone from showery grey Carlisle. I hope it's going to perk up and give me a chance to get in the garden...I'm getting restive in here!
A happy piece of imagery to start the day with karmalady and I'm also impressed by someone who can get up at 5am and cook! I have to start the day gently.
Mick does set me a good example, he gets out and about and is getting some exercise in, which is what I should be doing even if there are plenty of interesting things to do inside.

I hope you have a good tour Brook. DH and I have been all over Spain, one of my favourite countries, so much of interest. Extremadura is one area we really liked, wild and empty, not a tourist in sight. For a long drive, I recommend the Ruta de la Plata from Seville up to the north coast but it needs a few days so you can linger and enjoy.

Have a lovely day everyone and wishing all the poorly better times.

Taichinan Sun 06-Nov-22 09:14:36

Good morning all from a grey damp Angus coast. I do so agree with you, Karma, about Mick's thread. It's so warm and friendly and lovely to start the day with.
Sar I have dance envy! What kind of dance does your DGD do? Mine does contemporary. When I first watched it many years ago I have to admit I didn't enjoy it so much, but now I'm almost as much 'into' it as she is! (Not performing, I hasten to add😄 - I stick to calm and elegant tai chi!)
What a lovely position your DD's house is in, grandmattie. I too enjoy watching the weather's movements from my house, and sometimes I feel that I'm living in two different days at the same time, depending on which direction I'm looking in! Enjoy your pride in your DD today, and I know your DH will be with you all in spirit.
I'm off to meet DancingGD and her friend for lunch today, and my niece is going to join us too. It will be lovely to see them all and have a good catch-up.
Yesterday I spent thinking about and practicing what we are going to do at tomorrow's tai chi workshop. After so long now working with a small class it will be strange to work with a larger number again. It will be good exercise for the peripheral vision! I'm looking forward to it.
Lots of travels and family get-togethers for the grans today. Have lovely times everyone, and in the absence of the heavenly 🌞, make sure you carry your own with you x

Gala Sun 06-Nov-22 09:22:30

Good morning all. Sefton Weather Watch here. Was having a sneaky lie in but as Nannagarra hasn't given a weather report I will have to go & have a look. Hmm. Looks like a bit of this & that. A bit of cloud, a bit of blue sky, a bit of breeze. Take your pick Nanna. Been raining overnight though. The sun must be having a day off.

We enjoyed yesterday's visit to the theatre more than we anticipated. Jekyll & Hyde is a very dark story but the amateur cast put their all into it. A lot of talent on that stage.

Off to have a nose around our brand new Shakespeare North theatre this afternoon. There will also be an artisan market, a lantern parade & other things I can't remember.

Have a good day everyone.

Taichinan Sun 06-Nov-22 09:23:11

Forgot to mention the photos of that lovely leaf art, Gingster. So clever, and 'smile-raising'.

Nannagarra Sun 06-Nov-22 09:30:53

Wow, wow, wow baubles! Your second photo made me think of the Tower of London display in 2014.
How did you produce those magnificent poppies?

GrannySomerset Sun 06-Nov-22 09:34:22

Am confined to the kitchen while there is no heating but a kind friend has asked me to tea and television later so will not freeze. Church first though and a few phone calls to make this afternoon. Will be thinking of gMattie this morning - such an important occasion and it’s great that she can be there. Sorry to note that Cornergran is not feeling well, and hope she and the rest of us have a good enough day.
