Thanks Maw for the lovely poem. It's very true but sometimes I feel guilty when I realise I haven't been thinking of him as much.
Thankyou Marydoll too. You always seem to find time for others despite all that is going on with you.

I collected the barometer, driving through pouring rain. The barometer says it's unsettled!

Why is it that the weathergirl always promises 50% chance of rain.
Why don't they ever say 50% chance of Sunshine?

First post obviously lost,I might as well just read todays posts and hope to catch up with you all tomorrow.

dustyangel Mon 07-Nov-22 13:25:57

Was going to post the above much earlier but got interrupted again!

Late again no reason ,
Welcome back Ash ,
Marydoll take it easy you are brave feeding dogs ,I am ok once I get to know them.
GM sounds like a lovely day .

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 07-Nov-22 11:26:16

Good morning all from a dull NE. Although I read the posts everyday I never have anything to share. Since the first lockdown I’ve hardly been anywhere or done anything interesting. Yesterday was our dgd’s 8th birthday, had a lovely hour with her.
Still trying to remember you all. Glad to see Ash is home.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a gloomy Durham. Late in posting as I’ve just seen my sister-in-law off on her drive back to Cheshire after a hectic weekend here, mainly to mark what would’ve been my DH’s 72nd birthday. We had a lovely day yesterday at Amble on the Northumbrian coast calling in to see both my DDS and families on the way home. Car in for an MOT and service today and I’ve already been told it needs 4 new tyres - they’ve only lasted 10 months! (£500 and they haven’t opened the bl**dy bonnet yet!).
I haven’t had a chance to read everyone’s news thoroughly yet but a big welcome back to Ash and hoping she continues to recover with help from OD - he sounds a keeper?
Always in admiration for gM and Marydoll - you put me to shame, but remember to look after yourselves.
Fingers crossed for a decent week.

Iris hasn’t moved schools but is on show in her mother’s new parishes, gramaretto
And yes, the “once a day” is often all day ATM.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 07-Nov-22 10:06:35

Gingster they had tables available at that hotel but the weather was dire, the tide was out so DH decided we would eat closer to home.

There were still a fair few folks walking along the seafront (we drive all along it to get to DS’s more interesting than the A13/127) they must have been bonkers 🤣🤣🤣

Grammaretto

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Wet Wet Wet. thats a name of a Scottish Band
I have to collect our barometer today from across the Forth so it's rather fitting.
I have a cold too which doesn't help. I had to leave the cinema last night with a coughing fit

So glad you are on the mend Ash
I hope Iris will settle in soon. gMattie. Has she had to move school?
It looks lovely in Malaga Urms DD's in-laws are in Cordoba and post 100s of photos. I am not jealous.envy

Marydoll That's so sad about your friend.
My df funeral has been announced but I can't go as I'll be on a train to stay with DS as it's the anniversary of DH death .
Have as best a day as you can everyone.

Thinking of you Grammaretto , however well we cope, these anniversaries bring it all to the surface, don’t they?
For me it’s 5 years today that Paw went into hospital for the last time and died 3 days later - I have so many vivid memories of that awful morning waiting over 2 hours for the ambulance and then the dramas which followed.
You and anybody else missing a loved one might like this- too often though that “once a day” can be all day flowers

Blossoming Mon 07-Nov-22 09:55:07

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s damp, grey and gloomy again in my corner of Lancashire.

No plans for today, I think it will be a pottering kind of day.

Welcome back Ashcombe, no need to apologise, hope things settle down. Get lots of rest, you will be up and about again when you’re ready.

Glad all went well for DD yesterday GrandMattie.

Happy Birthday to your GD Annsixty, have a lovely evening.

I empathise EkwaNimitee being a fellow sufferer. Mine is giving it a rest at the moment, not even yesterday’s curry set it off.

Beechnut we’ve had an air fryer for years, only the size and make has changed! The original Tefal one was huge and took up loads of space on the counter. We bought it to help with healthy eating, no worries about power consumption and fuel bills then.

Happy Monday, have a good day all 🌻

Stressedok Mon 07-Nov-22 09:27:26

Morning peeps dull and rainy here in Norfolk UK. Off to collect set of draws today so oldest son no longer has any excuses why his clothes are everywhere in his room #cunningplan

Kalu Mon 07-Nov-22 09:24:18

Good morning all from a dreich start to the day in Glasgow.

hi Brooke 👋, enjoy your holiday
A poignant day for you Grammaretto 💐
I hope one of those GPs are of help to your pp Marydoll.Poor man. Sorry to hear the sad news of your friend. Look after yourself today. I would like to think others are available to take some of the load from you.
Nice to see you back Ash

A Waitrose trip is the only outing today, a few bits to do indoors then it could be another coorie doon day, possibly catching up with the TV series, Stella.

Have the best day possible all.

Wyllow3 Mon 07-Nov-22 09:17:54

Morning from a grey S Yorks.

(no pun intended Greyduster.)

Marydoll difficult times for you all round.

Well, I've got the Damp Men in my house. I assiduously set my alarm for 7.30am but was awakened by a mobile call at...8.20! I'd set my alarm for PM not AM. So on with shabby dressing gown needs must.
They are tackling the joists under the floorboards where they meet the wall. Wet rot. Discovered when they did remedial work 2 months ago.

Some clearly need part replacement: some were a debate between treatment and replacement: given that I plan to move in up to about 18 months time, compromised, because in the end it will need a new Damp Proof Course so its a "holding" operation.

I always need an afternoon rest, so not sure how to achieve that!

Stilllearning Mon 07-Nov-22 09:09:18

Another good morning from, as baubles said, a very driech S Lanarkshire.

I have been away staying with a friend for the weekend at ‘the seaside’ and it was so nice. As well as a walk by the sea we went to Dumfries House. It was closed to visitors so we didn’t go inside but had a lovely autumnal walk in the grounds.

I didn’t have time to post but did read and I took a snapshot of your DGD’s leaf art Gingster to show to my DGD today, I know she will want to try for herself, thank you for sharing it.

What a wonderful experience for you Sar to watch your DGD dance on stage! You must have been so proud.

Good to see you back Ashcombe and lovely that you are being looked after so well.

Very sorry to hear about your friend, Marydoll a real sorrow for you.

Usual childminding later today which I am looking forward to although I do hope the rain clears up for my journey.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🦩🦩

EkwaNimitee Mon 07-Nov-22 09:05:07

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a rather dark and very rainy Carlisle. I shall be glad to stay in and get the housework and laundry done.
I had a bad night having woken at midnight with a bad attack of acid indigestion. Having taken medication, I settled down listen to a drama episode on BBC Sounds as trying to follow a plot usually sends me off to sleep. I got through all 5 episodes and was still awake for a while! I'm going to be frazzled today and will probably have a nap at lunchtime.
Yesterday I managed to get out in the garden and planted a new rose plus I put together my small raised bed, not difficult but fiddly with lots of small nuts and screws.

Happy to see you back again Ashcombe. I hope you are soon getting on the go again, meanwhile, let yourself be pampered!

The best possible day to you all.

harrigran Mon 07-Nov-22 08:50:48

Good morning from the NE where it is dry at present.
DD travelled home to Belgium yesterday and SIL came to have dinner with
We made a big tray of roast vegetables 😋 witch's fingers, carrots, parsnip, red onions, garlic and beetroot. We roasted the veg with herbs and olive oil and finished it with a balsamic glaze. The chicken we served with it was okay.
SIL went in the attic and brought down a lot of paintings so that I could pick a few to hang, I had forgotten just how many I had.
Waitrose have a 25% offer on wine at present so I spent some time choosing some for the cellar. Online order went smoothly and I can expect my delivery soon.
Lovely to see you posting again Ashcombe, get well soon.
Have a good day all.

baubles Mon 07-Nov-22 08:45:59

Good morning all from driech South Lanarkshire.

Lovely to see you Ash, allow yourself to be looked after for a while.

Glad everything went well yesterday Mattie and I hope Iris feels more settled today.

Marydoll, sorry to hear about your friend and your PP, poor man, that sounds painful.

Happy holiday Brook.

A bit of light housework and a supermarket visit is all that’s on my to do list but no doubt I’ll manage to potter the day away.

Good wishes to those feeling under the weather and a good day to everyone.

luluaugust Mon 07-Nov-22 08:27:20

Good morning all from a cloudy W Kent. Longish drive for me this morning to see a dear friend and catch up on her holiday news, having done that it will probably be feet up this afternoon.
Glad to read you are home again Ash.
Marydoll that was a busy day yesterday, take care.
gM glad all went well.
Take care everyone.

Taichinan Mon 07-Nov-22 08:22:18

Safe travels and happy Hols to Brook and a happy birthday to Ann's DGD.

Taichinan Mon 07-Nov-22 08:14:17

Good morning all from the Angus coast where we have just had the most beautiful pink sunrise.
So glad your home, Ash. Best wishes for a calm and progressive recuperation - and enjoy being looked after by olddudders.
Marydoll you're in danger of doing too much again! Very sorry to hear about your friend, and your PP's shingles in his eyes sounds horrid, poor man. I hope you catch up with your rest today
What a very proud day for you yesterday grandmattie, and poignant too. I like to believe that our loved ones, although no longer physically with us, are somehow aware of what's going on and I am sure your DH was able to share your pride.
I chuckled at your 'Weather Warning' Urms - I did consider my big coat yesterday but decided against it as I'd have been too warm!!
Loved your one too about the airfryer Beechnut. Strangely that doesn't apply round me - perhaps my croneys and I have moved on to the 'not liking change' phase of our lives 😉. I shall try dropping the word into conversations today ......
Talking of which, I must rush now and prepare myself for our tai chi workshop today - I can feel a healthy bit of nerves kicking in now, but it will be fine I'm sure.
Have a good day everyone x

monk08 Mon 07-Nov-22 08:13:48

Good morning all from a damp Black country.
Lovely to see you back Ash hope you can sort out appointments without to much trouble.
grandMattie glad all went well yesterday.
Marydoll so sad about your friend but well done with feeding the dogs.
Will read more of everyone's news later this tablet needs charging.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Monday everyone and may you all find some 🌞.

Grandmabatty Mon 07-Nov-22 08:13:06

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. Marydoll I can't imagine how painful that must be for your parish priest. Poor man. Ash it's lovely to have you back on the thread.
Yesterday was a very nice family breakfast. It was lovely to see my aunt and uncle again. They head off again in three weeks to the Antarctic. They are very seasoned travellers. The boys were really well behaved and ate loads. The rest of the day I was very lazy and pottered about. I'm making the most of it as I return to child care tomorrow. Just Mondays and Tuesdays but that's enough. Dd sent a wee video of dgs2 pulling himself up. He's been taking his own time to do that. It reminds me of my son who could get anywhere fast by crawling so saw no need to walk. This wee one is similar.
Today I will contact the garage to organise a service and mot for my car. I have to buy a birthday card for a friend and organise her gift. But nothing else planned. Have a good day all.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 07-Nov-22 08:10:33

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a damp grey Hull.

So pleased to see you posting Ashcombe hope you get stronger every day and good luck with your appointments. 💐

AnnSixty happy birthday to your GD enjoy your meal. 🎉

Marydoll sorry you had that sad news yesterday. But pleased you felt well enough to run around like you did. 💐

Today it’s the usual Monday. Zoom yoga and picking up grandson from school.

Wishing everyone a lovely day. Safe journey to those travelling. Virtual hugs to those suffering stress and family worries. 🌻🌻

Good morning from a grey but dry Colchester. It has stopped raining for a bit. It seemed like we were getting the whole years worth at once.
I can get outside and tidy up the garden as the waste will be collected tomorrow.
Usual household stuff otherwise.
Love to all 🦩 x
