Good morning from a calm Torbay.

Firstly, thank you for all the kind messages of support and concern I have read whilst I haven’t been posting on the daily GM thread that Mick kindly sets up.

Surgery at Derriford to repair my mitral valve was a success despite leaving me with atrial fibrillation, which can happen, apparently. The need to sort out medication saw me at Torbay Hospital A & E over the weekend.

I must apologise for the worry caused here by the lack of updates. Last week, I found it difficult to concentrate on writing because of the busy time in hospital and the lack of peace! Now I’m home the tranquility is most welcome.

DH is proving to be a very good carer. It’s so hard when he has to do everything without me to share the load. Today, I must contact my GP surgery for various appointments on particular days but I am not hopeful, based on past experience.

I look forward to reading all your news soon. Wishing you all a good week. With my thanks and apologies for causing unnecessary worry. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Bristol.
I heard from Ashcombe at lunchtime yesterday. She is now home, being cared for in her convalescence by olddudders and feeling a lot better now. She thanks everyone for their kind thoughts, wishes and prayers.
DD’s licensing went well last night. It isa very moving service where, apart from the keys to the buildings, she is given the tools of her ministry - a Bible, a prayer book, a chalice, etc. I hadn’t realised that she was the first rector of a benefice of two merged parishes called the “Harbourside Benefice”. Her dad would have been bursting with pride - a bitter-sweet day.
DSiL’s father came early to help DD put up a rather elaborate wallpaper panel in her home study; his mother came later. I’m very fond of the in-laws.
Iris had a bad day; she was sulky, had tantrums, etc., as she isn’t very good with change and having to explain the crutches, and soon. She has a new splint that doesn’t go under her foot. She doesn’t like it, but it’s less obvious than the regular one. I think she didn’t use her crutches at all yesterday. Great progress.
Have a gentle day, one and all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Crossed posts. Welcome back, Ash, and happy convalescence. X

Aldom Mon 07-Nov-22 06:24:19

Good to see you again Ash. Best wishes for your future health.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 07-Nov-22 06:39:54

Morning all from West Oxfordshire and hello Ash. So pleased to hear of your recovery. It’s Monday so it must be laundry, shopping and ironing! I am waiting with bated breath to hear that the lounge curtains have been despatched. I had a text on Friday to say they were being prepared for despatch! Now it’s November, I really must get on with C preparations, at least for the Australian part of the family. Also, we may or may not be taking Milo to the vet today. Over the last few days he hasn’t been a happy pussy cat and we think he has a hair ball. Have a good day everyone.

Beechnut Mon 07-Nov-22 06:40:36

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Still dark.

Great to have you back Ash, good luck with the appointments.

I’d say I had a successful weekend with my decluttering and moving things around. Hopefully there will be less reaching and getting steps to do get things from high shelves.

Today I have to make a medical appointment. I was given a list of hospitals to chose from and was pleased to see my local one on the list. It turns out not to be and the nearest place I can go is miles away. Why do they do that when they haven’t actually got a clinic in these places.

I’m glad your DDs day went well Mattie.

Have a good day all 🦩🍃🍂

I saw this about cooking

Nannagarra Mon 07-Nov-22 06:51:49

A day with Mr Busy awaits.
Have the best Monday possible everyone.

I am going to go to the gym today for the first time in two weeks, hopefully it will kick start my mojo and appetite.

Have your best day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Marydoll Mon 07-Nov-22 07:03:50

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow.
Lovely to see you back Ash, I hope you manage to get your medication sorted.

I got an early morning phone call yesterday, which upset me greatly.
A friend whose liver transplant from years ago has been failing, is now on a ventilator, after having two separate, unexpected internal bleeds on Saturday evening. I am finding it very hard to deal with.

On top of that, our PP is very ill with shingles in his eyes and I spent most of yesterday, going back and forwards to church, because there was so much on. Thank goodness, for the first time in ages, I wasn't feeling too bad yesterday.
I had to look after the dogs and I feed them. That is above and beyond, because as you know, I am very wary of dogs!!! A big achievement for me.
I fear we may need to get the PP back to the eye hospital in Glasgow today, but obviously it can't be me, who drives him, due to being immunocompromised.
Two of our parishioners are GPs, so I intend to ask if either of them can check him out this morning, we are very concerned about him.

Not surprisingly, I was in bed early and slept all night, I was shattered!

Thinking of all who are poorly, enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

Greyduster Mon 07-Nov-22 07:06:03

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cold, murky (again) South Yorkshire. Good to see you’re home, Ash - the best place to get better, especially with Olddudders by your side! Domestic pottering today and a walk down to the supermarket for bits and pieces.
Have the best day you can folks.

ginny Mon 07-Nov-22 07:12:11

Good morning everyone.
Pleased to see you posting again Ashcombe.
This is going to be a very busy week and today is my only ‘free’ day. I’ll get housework up to date, make soup and a red velvet cake .
Must start thinking about packing ready for next Monday.
After breakfast I will make a list of things to be done each day. I find it quite satisfying as I cross of each job.
Wishing a good day for you all.

Urmstongran Mon 07-Nov-22 07:12:14

No Matt.

How lovely to have you back with us Ash you’ve been sorely missed! Rest up now and good luck with sorting out your hospital appointments.

Good morning everyone from sunny Málaga. Himself fancies getting the train into Los Boliches. We do that then walk from there into Fuengirola. A nice half hour stroll.

I love the streets there with all the fern trees and colourful bougainvillea. Coffee along the way and lunch at Cólon in the church square. I didn’t know until a Spanish guy told me that it’s a pet name for Christopher Columbus - he laughed when I told him it had different connotations in English - meaning the large bowel - a bit off putting for the name of a gastro bar I used to think!

Friends from Bolton arrive at 6pm today.. They sent a text ‘see you in Pedro’s later tonight’. It will be nice to have the Mrs join us at LWW tomorrow too!

Bad weather back home my stepfather’s been telling me. This makes me laugh!

Enjoy Monday all who can.

annsixty Mon 07-Nov-22 07:12:24

Good morning all from Stockport.
I haven’t checked the weather yet, my bed is too warm and cozy.
Just popped in to say how pleased I am to see Ashcombe back and to wish her a speedy recovery.
My lovely live- in GD is 24 today so we are off out to celebrate early evening.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Mon 07-Nov-22 07:23:18

Happy Birthday to your GD, Ann, and have a nice time this evening!🎂🍷

kittylester Mon 07-Nov-22 07:23:42

Good morning all from a slightly brighter North Leicestershire.

We didn't go out yesterday as the weather was very dreary. DH has a drive from here to the very south of Leicestershire into the hospital in the middle of Leicester and then back.

On the other hand, I have a friend coming for tea and cake! And, she is bringing the cake!

Nice to see you back Ash.

Urmstongran Mon 07-Nov-22 07:24:23

Aw, enjoy the special occasion this evening annsixty!

NannyJan53 Mon 07-Nov-22 07:30:15

Good morning from another wet and grey Black Country!

I was up ultra early to chop veg and simmer chicken carcass to make soup. It is simmering away now. Veg, pearl barley and chicken! That will be lunch sorted all week. I have to get up early as I leave the house by 9am for the Monday morning health walk.

A busy week for me too ginny, Friday will be my only free day.

Glad to see you are back and fit and well Ashcombe I am sure olddudders is looking after you admirably.

Wishing you all a good start to the week, with special thoughts of those struggling with ill health for themelves or family members,

Jaxjacky Mon 07-Nov-22 07:30:54

Good morning from a rainy S Hants. Good to see you back Ash, may you recover well.

Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton, rain forecast later. Pleased to see Ash back and hope her recovery goes well. Glad that all went well for grandMattie's DD yesterday - have been to see my DB installed into each of his new parishes, very moving services. No more now, as he has retired, and is now a 'supply' priest.
And Marydoll, make sure you don't overdo it.

Yoga this morning, then I shall try to get down to Sainsbury's to change a too big top I bought on Friday. Would normally wait until next Friday, but I want to wear it on Wednesday. Will have a coffee down there, and a browse.

Take care everyone, and have a good Monday.

karmalady Mon 07-Nov-22 07:38:12

good morning, s somerset is again at present default weather, ie wet

I am looking forward to reading all posts later, after a haircut at a lady barbers

A bit of research again re my vintage sewing machine. I happened to see a foot pedal on ebay, bought it as a spare. People are breaking up the lovely old bernina accessories and getting more money separately. Possibly inherited and need clearing out. [sad}

A tweak to my downstairs uf heating, a bit lower between 7am to 5pm I warm up after breakfast and am moving pretty much all day up to 5.

Grammaretto Mon 07-Nov-22 07:42:41

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Wet Wet Wet. thats a name of a Scottish Band

It looks lovely in Malaga Urms DD's in-laws are in Cordoba and post 100s of photos. I am not jealous.envy

Marydoll That's so sad about your friend.
My df funeral has been announced but I can't go as I'll be on a train to stay with DS as it's the anniversary of DH death .
