There used to be a Goosemuck Lane at Stickney, near Boston, but I think it`s been renamed now.

The "piddles" in Dorset are in the Piddle valley. The river Piddle flows out to sea at Poole.

Shellow Bowells (the correct spelling) is a tiny hamlet approximately 6 miles from Chelmsford, Essex. It's very real!

I'm enjoying this thread. I've been up Brown Willy and I've been to Crapstone (I don't think that's been mentioned yet, apologies if it has.) In fact I live about midway between the two.
I was also lucky enough to be in Wetwang one day when their scarecrow festival was on. My husband tried to teach me to drive at Land of Nod and I have been to Land of Green Ginger (a streeet in Hull).

Perhaps people with Scratchy Bottoms have been sitting in Itchingfield too long Has anyone been to Brown Willy Hill in Cornwall? I havn't been able to find any references to Bill Bryson's Shallow Bowels or Much Burping in Bedfordshire so they could be fictitious.

Kent has some wonderful names - we lived near Heartsease, not far from Paramour Street (a settlement, not a road) and a bit further from old Wives Lees!
We had a Pratts Bottom too between Ash and Staple…

You can stay at Sandy Balls. Quite a few of my family stayed in lodges there a couple of years ago when my niece got married.
I used to enjoy driving past Pratts Bottom - our music teacher was Mr. Pratt.

As a young teen I sometimes went out with my Dad on his rounds in North Norfolk. He used to go to both Snorings and the Gotobed family were customers.

I'm wondering if those hilarious names weren't considered to be particularly rude when devised .

I remember lots of jokes about Lord Hereford's knob as a child - always after a few bevvies on Sundays - yes after Chapel !
Thank the Lord my Uncles hasn't heard of the following :
In the Middle Ages , most towns and cities had a Gr*pec*nt Lane , where ladies of dubious reputation could be found .
C*nt wasn't considered to be rude
- just a slang word .
It might have come from Old Norse or German .
I think that the name of these colourfully described lanes persisted into Georgian times , but by Victorian times they caused great offence and were changed to a recognisable Grape Lane or to a completely different name .

A hill in Wiltshire I think, called Labour in Vain. I always see lines of Puritans trudging up it.

Just over the border in Wales is a mountain called Twmpa. The English name is Lord Hereford's Knob. 😳

I've been up Lord Hereford's Knob more than once, I can tell you. I think I've just lowered the tone still further.

I have been to Twatt in the Shetlands….

The is a place in Berkshire called Oare. Some people live in Oare. There is also a place called Egypt in Berks. Where are Nether Wallop and Pratt's Bottom?

Sorry if I’m repeating and it’s already on here, but scrolling on phone I can’t see a couple of villages near me ‘Lower Slaughter’ and ‘Upper Slaughter’ both absolutely stunning, picture perfect, film set kind of places.

A Singaporean sister in law will be staying at one of those shortly, with another 3 members of her family who’ll be visiting. 🤞the weather stays nice!

Near Birmingham Airport which is a lovely name. Wigtwizzle near Penistone is quite a fun name. There is Triangle near Queensbury, and Slack bottom rd in Wibsey, and Slack Side as well as another Slack bottom near Hebden Bridge and Diggle near Saddleworth, and Frisby on the wreake in Leicestershire
The Bradford area has both Dick Lane and Fanny St, but they are kept a respectable distance apart.
I've been to Willey, and thought it very small and not easy to find, should be twinned with Condom I've always thought.
For a bargain you need to go to Freeby in Leicestershire, and for a cuddly pet Bunny in Nottinghamshire. If you're feeling sad you could. Go to Blubberhouses near Pateley Bridge
