These are a few of my favourite things.

I love everything about our home. We live on a farm. Looking out to see the black angus cattle, our beautiful percheron blue roan horses, the quiet seclusion and our little lake with all the wild birds, the rooster which wakes us each morning. Our comfortable paid for home. The big south windows which show our trail through the woods to our daughters. A special place in the house for each person to enjoy their own space. We're so blessed!

My memory foam deep topper on my bed. I like it especially when I first waken in the morning, and think.. "if I won the lottery and could spend whatever I wanted, I could not be more comfortable than I am now, in my bed, with my first coffee, and the whole lovely day in front of me"

Love this thread, our kitchen diner is where everyone congregates when we have a party and our large lounge sits empty all the time, love that we have the space for the whole family to gather. Bifold doors open onto the garden which I love too, again I love having the family round for a BBQ when the weather suits

The view of the meadows and river from my bedrooms - long windows here too - the light is wonderful - the quiet road I am lucky enough to live in, the trees in the front garden, the sound of the birds in the morning. Cannot leave out my soft eyed little spaniel - not a 'thing' but such a sweetheart.

My OH, the cat,cameras, fountain and ball point pen collection, luxury knitting needles & cochet hooks, Alessi potato peeler - things I’ve bought not because they are expensive but because they are beautiful and I get pleasure using them every time.

One of the most commented on items in my home. Not a lot that I like about the flat itself as I am desperately trying to move. i am disabled/housebound because the flat is not wheelchair friendly and I am trapped in here. Not really been out in about 3 years. just been told I am near the top of council list now, so hoping a move will be soon. PS> I lived in Egypt for many years, hence Tut.

I'm joining the kitchen/diner brigade. Ours was knocked into one and a minute utility room created that has isolated the back door, which used to open straight into the kitchen. Kirstie Allsop would be proud of me now that the washing machine is out of the kitchen. 😂 It's whirring away right now in the utility room. My living room is hardly used nowadays. The photo shows Charlie (springer) squeezing himself into the cavvy's bed!

White unit I designed in our bedroom, imcorporating drawers, cupboards, bookshelves a place for the bedroom stereo and a shelf for a vase of flowers.

My Brooch

This is a true tale about a Halifax Bomber that had been on quite a few raids during WW2. After the war these planes were put to service by helping to train glider pilots.
During 1947 the circular engine Halifax was sent to North Luffenham airfield where my hubby used to be a fitter on the engines. The Halifax Bomber was a replacement sent to teach Glider Pilots.
Before it was accepted it had to go on a test flight to make sure that it was safe to tow the gliders. On its first test flight it crashed through a fault in the control column. It turned right over on to its back and crashed in a ploughed field at the end of the drome.
One big cloud of dust that scared the living daylights out of the ground crew. My hubby said everyone was terrified of what they would find but the pilot, engineer and the radio operator all climbed out dusting themselves down and getting the dust out of their eyes.
Everyone was relieved and pleased to see all three climb out unhurt but to this day my hubby says he will never know how they did. My hubby was NOT one of those that had serviced this aircraft but there was a big enquiry as to what happened.
From what my hubby could gather a bolt at the bottom of the control column had snapped.
Hubby said out of the Halifax and the Lancaster he preferred the Halifax because you could walk down the middle of it but with the Lancaster you had to crawl on your hands and knees to service them.
After his stint at North Luffenham my hubby was sent to Cottesmore to work on Mosquitoes. He also worked on the first Meteor. Hubby said he enjoyed his time in the National Service and only wished it was brought back again to straighten some of the yobs out of today.
Out of the wreck of the Halifax my hubby had a piece of perspex from the windscreen and made this brooch for me below. Its now 75 years since he first gave it to me.
To me its priceless and will be kept in the family and I very often wonder how many bombing raids has that little piece of perspex been on. If only it could talk.!!!!!!!!!

I have a lovely hand knitted (literally using her hands and no needles) throw that my daughter made, in rainbow colours.

I was talking to my grandson about the throw a couple of weeks ago, and he said him and his brother hated it, because my daughter would get so bad tempered when she was making it.

I really love it, though.
