I think Megs posted late yesterday her appointment has been moved to Saturday, seems harsh.
ALPHABETICAL FOOD AND DRINK (Jan 26)
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , wet and windy here in brackley this morning.
I will do my usual trip to Bicester this morning, as I have now got to do a blood test at my local surgery tomorrow which suits me , it will be interesting to see when they at the Churchill in Oxford decide to do the surgery on me as it could be a day one ,and depending on how I recover when its done , released on the day or kept in for one night when?
Take Care,
Mick
I think Megs posted late yesterday her appointment has been moved to Saturday, seems harsh.
Hope results are good today Megs
Much distracted by the idea of exploding Tunnock's wafers.
Very late on parade today. I had a much welcomed long sleep then got caught up on a thread elsewhere on is there such a thing as scientific truth. Will spare GN's the details.
Heavy rain here in South Yorks yesterdays meet with GNetter was delightful, and I had a busy day, hence the long sleep.
I've read right through and want to send love and hugs to all suffering or waiting for treatments especially Meg today. May your day come soon Mick. About getting older and not being able to do what we could, illness part of it, I THINK I am managing to let go a bit of the "I oughts". As I live on my own it means more dependant on others - so be it and just glad to have the means.
Sympathies for disappearance of cleaners, I have a lovely young women who is the best ever and feel so grateful. She doesn't come cheap but my goodness they deserve it.
Its horrible outside so I think I'll try to do yoga from a TV download I used in Covid times: it's just much harder to do it than at the gym where others are doing this and that around me. Zoom counselling later.
Atm I'm grateful to not have to join long queues booking supermarket slots - there is a pleasant big Sainsburys just down the road and I like to choose from what is "in", and sometimes pick up yellow sticker stuff.
(But it's all car dependent where I live. That may change next year or 18 months, I want to use my car less)
Take care
What I didn't add was that my friend wasn't at the station in Granada, when we arrived. No mobile phones in those days.
We waited for ages, but no sign of him. Panic set in, but knew he lived near the bullring, so we got ourselves there and kept walking around it, in the hope of seeing him. We did! We were so naive in those days.
Years later, now a head teacher, he was visiting the high school, where I had been decanted with a number of pupils.
I saw him coming towards me with the school's head teacher, he recognised me first.
My first words were, I can't believe, it's so many years since I slept in your bed in Granada! 😱( He had given up his room for me)
The two men burst out laughing! After all, I was supposed to a pillar of the community! 😚
#Holy Mary
I will gloss over being taken away at Gatwick to be searched. His mother had given me a shoebox; tied with string; stuffed with tablet and Tunnock's caramel wafers.
There had been a number of bomb scares in the previous days.
Just seen your post, BlueSapphire Do keep an eye on your blocked ear and if it’s still troublesome in a day or so, contact your surgery no matter what they say about things clearing on their own - ear infections can lead to serious complications if left too long. Either that, or see if you can find someone who treats blocked ears/wax build up etc privately. My husband did that and it was worth every penny.
Good morning. Another very wet, dismal day. Quite breezy, too. I haven’t read all the posts yet, only micks, so hope you are all ok. 🤞for the blood tests mick and hope you hear soon when you go for your surgery. I think the waiting is almost as bad as the event itself.
First Xmas lunch of the season today. It’s not too far away to travel too, fortunately. When I get back, there’s a small amount of ironing waiting to be done, so I might do that.
Morning from a very wet NE. Waited for call from furniture company re non delivery of my 2 seater sofa yesterday. Rang them at 4.30 and told delivery would be February 2023!!
Told them they could collect the furniture they had delivered and send me a full refund. Suddenly they could deliver it next Monday. How could that be?
Needless to say I didn’t collect new air fryer yesterday. Must go today.
Hope you all have a good day.
Good morning from a wet and windy W Kent. No need to go out today as DF I usually meet is still in hospital with Covid.
I have got all the Christmas cards out and intend to sort through present box to see what I have already got.
I had to give up on a conventional hoover and now use a Dyson stick gM.
Keep warm if you can everyone.
Love that story Marydoll thanks for sharing your happy memories! We’re travelling by the Alsa bus, just waiting to board now
Have a lovely holiday Ginny and enjoy the cruise 😍
I also wanted to send my best wishes to Megs for today.
Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s raining heavily in my corner of Lancashire, currently 12°C.
I’m glad I have no need to go out today in this awful weather. I have ordered Christmas presents for all the little ones and now need to sort out cards. I don’t think I need to buy any, but I do need to find where I have put them! Otherwise my usual routine of physio, cycling and Gaelic.
Have a good day all 🌻
Good morning from a wet and windy Oxfordshire, the rain woke me up at 3am and I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I’m dozing in the sofa.
Just a bit of dusting and polishing to do today.
Have a good day everyone and take care in the wet if you are out and about.🌸
Thinking of you today Megs36 🙏🏻
Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Funeral yesterday for 96 year old member of our music club and I picked up another member, our timing was ok, but the barrier came down at the railway crossing and it was one train, then a wait for a second. I could feel my blood pressure rising, but we were fine timewise. Nimrod always moves me, but I try not to cry as I have to keep my mascara on😁
I bought my rail tickets for my trip south, reeling at the cost.
I’m on the desk at the music club today and will run through my own songs before I go. I’m TATT as the doctors put it, even with plenty of rest.
Onwards and upwards Ashcombe, hope your husband is stable multicoloured and thoughts to anyone with worries.🌼
Good morning from Glasgow where it is bucketing down.
My plan to fill garden pots with fresh compost and bulbs won’t be happening today. Indoors it is then. Puncture to repair on my bike and whatever the day brings including getting lost in my book.
GD2’s recent diagnosis of tonsillitis has been re diagnosed as, strep throat. Poor darling is constantly coughing and completely wiped out. As she is 13yr, hopefully a dose of adult strength antibiotics will kick in after a couple of days and should help her recover quickly.
Hoping a good day is ahead for all.
Good morning all from what is becoming the usual on the Angus coast - low cloud and wet, wet, wet. We have a yellow warning for wind, rain and possible flooding later. Such joy!
Took the car down to the little garage I use in the town for a sleepover last night - it's MOT is this morning and they need time to give it a once over first. So, fingers crossed - it's becoming as decrepit as its owner now! So, nothing much on today - a pile of ironing awaits of course - and I shall probably put a small wash on to dry indoors as there doesn't appear to be a 'good drying day' forecast any time soon. Never mind, it'll soon be Spring 😁
Love your story of your trip to Granada, Marydoll and wishing you a memorable visit there too brook. Enjoy your cruise Ginny.
Sorry about your cleaner Grandmattie, I hope nothing has happened to her. Hoovering is a 'pain', isn't it. I try to apply tai chi principles to it, but even that doesn't work! I have a little robot vac which is good, but doesn't get under the furniture or into the corners, so every now and then I have to get the real thing out. Sigh.
Glad you're improving steadily Ash - you'll soon be back to your old self.
Fingers crossed that the sale of your flat goes to the people you like Grammaretto.
Have the best day you can everybody x
Good morning from a grey Durham. No specific plans for today, although I brought three bags of laundry home from DD2’s yesterday, which should keep me occupied! I went to the hospital with her yesterday to have her foot inspected and re-bandaged – healing – but very slowly due to her disability. Afterwards, I babysat for her and her DH as it was a parents evening at nursery and then they blitzed the local Tesco.
I have her little dog here for a couple of days, as they have their cleaner – it seems odd just having one now and we break down at the mention of the other - PTS last month, after 14 wonderful years.
Goodness – is that the time - I’m not even dressed yet!
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning everyone from a very dull and wet Northampton; don't think I shall be venturing out today, so no health walk this afternoon.
Have woken up this morning with a very blocked ear, can hardly hear a thing out of it. Have had twinges in it for 3 or 4 days, so I imagine it's an ear infection, which our surgery will not treat as they say it will clear up on its own. Have been using pain killers and just put some drops in it
Finished knitting the cardigan yesterday for an elderly friend; just need to pull it into shape and block it, then sew the buttons on. Will deliver it tomorrow, and hope it fits and meets with her approval.
Need to run the hoover over downstairs this morning, wash up and tidy the kitchen, then sit down with my book club book which I should finish today - with two weeks to spare! Means I can then pick one from my pile of books waiting to be read.
Booked my Sainsbury's Christmas slot last week, got a delivery booked for the 21st, which will be fine. Am going to DS and family for Christmas, so it will be full of treats to take with me!
Take care everyone on this wet miserable day.
It's pouring here so looks like a day indoors today ,I have plenty to do and no excuses to put anything off .Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Good morning Mick and everyone from dark damp Carlisle. It's obviously rained a little during the night, the worst is yet to arrive and looks imminent. Needless to say, it will be a day indoors. The vacuum cleaner awaits, a good job it has headlights! As well as that, there is admin to do and I must start to think about Christmas. I shall be away, trains permitting, so no need to worry about Christmas deliveries. I miss the Christmases in Spain where I could just turn up in the car park at a reasonable hour on Christmas Eve, not fight for a car space and then move easily round the store...as long as I avoided the fish counter where the Spanish ladies were crowded round getting their Christmas Eve fish dinners.
I was out planting shrubs yesterday afternoon in pleasant warm sunshine, only four more to go though I have two trees on order although I think they won't be able to lift them from the nursery yet due to this mild autumn.
Have the best possible day, all.
Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Haven't read through yet slept in again must be these dark mornings.
Should be going to jewellery quarter to pick up engraved trophies but will probably leave it and go tomorrow after nursery pick up.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Tuesday and may you all find some 🌞.
Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where to raining. Schoolchildren walking past now on their way in, hoods up, winter wear, brollies for the mums and grandmas. Brr!
We are off to M&S Food Hall picking up my stepfather en route. He says his supplies have been much depleted during our absence and is looking forward to stocking up. We go in their café after our shopping to enjoy coffee and cake (but not for me as I’m dieting). Yesterday at the surgery I was delighted to be weighed and told I’d lost 11lbs in 8 weeks. The lovely nurse I see laughed and thought it was a great idea when I told her about my plan to buy a half bottle of champagne for myself every time I lose half a stone.
We have no other sorties planned for today. I intend to binge watch some more of The Crown. A day to hunker down. My sister in Spain said her area has rain forecast for the next four days so she’s covered up her wicker furniture on their terrace.
Good morning from a very wet Shropshire☔️
Have been having a few health issues. At first it was thought to be a reaction to the covid booster but then a dr decided to look back at my blood results. It turns out that the blood test I had just before lockdown indicated I was on too high a dose of one of my medications. So nearly three years of too much medication. This caused cardiac symptoms and raised blood pressure which has never been a problem for me.I am hopeful that now I am on a lower dose things will calm down🤞🏻another blood test in a fortnight to check levels.
DH has just taken our neighbours to the railway station otherwise nothing much planned today. We have another bag of apples from the same neighbour so lots of apple peeling and stewing later.
Thoughts with all battling for drs and hospital appointments and results.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all from soggy South Lanarkshire.
I’m running late so will catch up with all the busyness this evening when I’m back from work.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Have a lovely time ginny 🌞
