Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , wet and windy here in brackley this morning.
I will do my usual trip to Bicester this morning, as I have now got to do a blood test at my local surgery tomorrow which suits me , it will be interesting to see when they at the Churchill in Oxford decide to do the surgery on me as it could be a day one ,and depending on how I recover when its done , released on the day or kept in for one night when?
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dark, but as yet, still dry E Kent.
All the best for your tests today, Mick.
I was very annoyed yesterday as the cleaner didn’t come again. I had been expecting her on Thursday, or yesterday. She hasn’t replied to my texts. I wonder if she has dropped/ghosted me. The upshot was that I did the cleaning. Now, I haven’t vacuumed for over 20 years as DH decided it was his job, I don’t even really know how this new vacuum cleaner works. It’s hard work, isn’t it? I ended with a really painful back - but the house needed it.
In the afternoon, DL was taken to her consultant in Ashford; I met my lovely tai chi friend. I took the opportunity of giving her “Carlos”, the bronze heron. I shan’t be taking him with me and DD doesn’t want him. She is delighted.
T’ai chi this morning and supermarket this afternoon, although I shall need a nap as I’ve been awake since 0330.
Hope the poorly improve and/or manage to rest (*Marydoll*?) and everyone has a gentle day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning and it is raining in s somerset

I made a very warm long dressing gown yesterday, wool, long zip, hood. Cozy. Bit heavy but I wanted soft coating wool. I could not settle downstairs afterwards so spent an hour cleaning and my sewing room is now pristine and machines covered, oiled and spotless

I need to do some general house cleaning today, dusting, pottering, with knitting interludes. Maybe make date and walnut cakes to slice and freeze. Cheerful music will be on

Ashcombe Tue 15-Nov-22 06:15:15

Good morning from a wild, wet and windy Torbay!

We’ve had what amounts to a lie-in for us, with sleeping until 6.00 a.m. when we’ve routinely been having TIB any time from 4.00a.m. Certainly that was my best night since being in hospital! Poor DH has to make the hot drinks until I’m allowed to lift the weight of a kettle, once my chest has fully healed. Finding the travel kettle would be a good idea!

A later bedtime has made a difference. DH was a Front of House steward last night for our latest production: Ladies’ Day, which was well received. I was glad he could enjoy a break from his caring duties whilst I had a catch up call with a lovely friend from my Staffordshire days, with whom I appeared on stage many times back in the day.

It’s good that your procedure could be happening soon, Mick. I feel your pain with unreliable cleaners, grandMattie. Extra work you could well do without. What a good idea to offer friends presents before you move. I’m sure “Carlos” will be appreciated. Do take care of yourself.

Best wishes to all who have problems - brighter skies will follow. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning all from a wet S Hants, up at 5:30 to book my Christmas delivery slot. I recall queuing, with trolley, at a local supermarket many years ago with many others, to be ‘let in’ for our Christmas shop. This is a lot easier.
A drive to do today and sorting out our boiler, officially broken with an error message indicating the pump.
You’re sounding better Ash good.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩

Grandmabatty Tue 15-Nov-22 06:32:01

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and a bit damp. Mick it sounds like you have your medical appointments sorted. Grandmattie good for you decluttering. But in such a nice way. Ash you definitely sound a lot brighter. Jaxjacky I won't have to bother with that this year as I'm going to dd.
Yesterday I felt much more in control of childcare and we had a pleasant day. Once I'd dropped dgs1 at nursery and dgs2 had eaten his body weight in Weetabix, we went for a walk and then to the swings. He was introduced to the neighbours too and graced them with big smiles. The only down side was my tendonitis has returned with a vengeance. Probably lifting him up.
Today will be more of the same except dd is picking them up at the back of three. She and sil are going to a funeral. I will then have a nap. Have a good day all.

Greyduster Tue 15-Nov-22 06:36:22

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very dark, very wet South Yorkshire. That will mean another day indoors. I met up with a very nice Gransnetter yesterday for coffee, and then went home intending to make inroads into my ironing pile, but got sidelined clearing out a chest of drawers containing assorted junk so that DD will have somewhere to put her clothes when she comes here to stay. I had a short walk and that was the daylight hours gone! Today I have to order a new microwave as mine is now very much on its last legs - John Lewis looks favourite because of their extended guarantee - and find out what my son in law would like for his birthday as I have no idea and am running out of time, as usual.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Nannagarra Tue 15-Nov-22 06:39:41

Good morning from Sefton where the weather is like yours, Mick. Good luck with the blood test tomorrow.
Tai Chi and Pilates for me today.
Whatever you intend to do, have the best day possible.

Good morning from an exceedingly wet Wiltshire village, ‘tis bucketing down but DDog and I are snug , me with a coffee in bed and Her Ladyship curled up on it 🙄 She usually sleeps downstairs but I don’t hear her if she wants to go out, DH is away so she gets spoilt 😊
Dog walker for her this morning, I do hope it stops raining for them.
I will tidy up downstairs and then sort out yarn for more pairs of socks; dd would like some and a friend has dropped hints! I enjoy knitting them because I listen to audiobooks at the same time, relaxing!
Yesterday DD came with a big van to empty the storage unit with DH, goodness knows what was in it! All the time they were here the two dogs didn’t stop playing so DDog was tired last night.
I hope today goes well for you all, take care x

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I haven’t peeked through the curtains yet so no idea about the weather. More admin today and baking. My daughter was asking, when she was here the other week, if I’m making my usual Chocolate spiced muffins for Christmas. I’m making those today, together with a white chocolate and raspberry cake, which I make in 7 inch square sandwich tins. I expect I’ll watch the bake off final tonight. Have a good day.

brook2704 Tue 15-Nov-22 07:06:52

Good morning everyone from Alicante, the weather has been very sunny and much warmer than I thought, apart from the evenings we’ve not needed a jumper at all. It’s our last morning here as we’re heading over to Granada later for a few days there, another little adventure!
Well done with getting your Christmas slot booked early Jax we’ve been invited to DD2s for the day so I’ve not got a lot to get in.
Hope your cleaner gets in touch gMattie it must be frustrating not knowing where you’re up to and you’ve definitely enough to do already. Hope you get a rest later after waking up so early
Hoping everyone feeling poorly has a bit better day today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Tue 15-Nov-22 07:07:05

Good morning from a still dark North Leicestershire. We have wind and rain in the forecast.

DD1 didn't come yesterday as it was very foggy and she hasn't driven much lately but will probably come today.

DH is doing a drive today.

Sar53 Tue 15-Nov-22 07:12:38

Good morning from Essex by the sea. It is forecast to rain for most of the day so an indoor day.
I've been awake on and off since 3, lots going round my head.
Ironing, bed changing, maybe cake making if I can be bothered.
I hope today is a good one for everyone xx

GrannyGravy13 Tue 15-Nov-22 07:13:55

Morning all,

The sky is clear and it’s rather breezy here in S E Essex. I hope it stays dry as I have an opticians appointment this morning and will have drops in my eyes which means that I cannot drive. It’s only a 15 minute walk but I would rather not get wet!!

I will probably potter this afternoon, then it’s pick up The Imp from nursery and the 7yr old from school. DD will pick up Imp after work and the 7yr old stays for his weekly sleep over.

Pleased you are feeling better Ashcombe , grandMattie good cleaners are like gold dust I hope yours returns.

Have your best day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Gala Tue 15-Nov-22 07:15:41

Good morning from my bit of Sefton which is also extremely wet. Can't hear any wind though, just the rain lashing down.
Hand weights exercise class this morning then more food shopping.... where does it all go?🤔 Possibly a bit of dust redistribution & the remains of the ironing pile. Will then need to rest with a good book this afternoon.😁
Take care all.

Gingster Tue 15-Nov-22 07:28:30

Good morning all - no fog today. It didn’t lift at all yesterday.

Our oven repair man didn’t turn up. 😤. You get to expect it don’t you!. No phone call to tell us. He’s coming today. 🤔. Apparently!

I had a very frustrating time in our local M and S food hall yesterday. Just popped in to pick up a parcel - a 2 minute visit.
I ended up being in there for half an hour, . Staff were apologetic but inefficient. Good job Dh wasn’t with me, he’s isn’t very patient or tolerant. I just smile and say ‘no problem’. 😥

Bridge club this afternoon and looking forward to seeing g good friends, a good laugh and tea and cake. 👍.

A pleasant good day to you all. 💕

ShazzaKanazza Tue 15-Nov-22 07:31:51

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Like most of us a day of rain is forecast.

Today I’m picking up my uncle and taking him to Scarborough hospital for his pre op assessment in readiness for his next cataract op hopefully in the next couple of weeks. He needs putting to sleep because of his ticks and twitches so it’s not a quick job. DH will be ready with a lovely pasta and glass of wine when I get back tonight.

Have a good day if you can hoping all appointments go well. Enjoy those grandchildren cuddles and thoughts to those with health and stress worries. 🌻🌻

Marydoll Tue 15-Nov-22 07:37:18

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where its 8°C.

I woke up realising that today was the day, when Tesco open their Christmas delivery slots. Too late! At 6.30pm, there were 256,429 people ahead of me!

Mick, I am shocked that someone, requiring cancer surgery has to wait so long for treatment, the NHS is indeed a shambles. ( My consultant's words, not mine),
Despite numerous phone calls and a promise last week, to hear within two days, I still haven't had my biopsy results. 😡
Here in Scotland, unlike England, (as far as I know) we cannot access our results online, I have lost count, but I think this is week 18, since my urgent procedure.!

My heart episodes are getting more frequent, I was fine in the morning yesterday, but didn't have such a good afternoon.
Consequently, DH has insisted that I rest today and he will do the food shopping.
We had run out of bread last night, so I decided lazily, to make a bread mix loaf. Unfortunately, I found I had none, so made it from scratch to bake overnight. I have no idea how it will turn out!

Apologies, if I have sounded like a moaning old biddy today, my spirits are actually quite high, I'm just frustrated that I have little control over my health issues and that my clinicians are running out of options anyway.
Not a good situation to be in, for someone, who likes to be in control. 😉

Enjoy your day folks and good luck with any medical appointments.

Grammaretto Tue 15-Nov-22 07:37:58

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 9°c now.
My American helpers leave this morning for their next adventure. They are in their 60s and 70s so not young, but working their way around the UK. I cooked last night to save her doing it but I've been cooked for and lots of work was done in the garden. Apart from throwing out my collection of green shield stamps, and other memorabilia grin
They were nice company.
I liked the first person who viewed my flat with the agent so hope they'll take it and I can cancel the other viewings now.

I miss DH for lots of reasons but he brought me tea in bed every morning for 51 years so now I have to go downstairs and make my own shock so I am most sympathetic gMattie re the hoovering.
I have invested in a stick battery hoover/Dyson to make it less backbreaking.
Ditto the lawn mower. I bought myself a lightweight battery one (expensive) but good.

I'm glad you have your blood tests locally now Mick. Soon you'll be fit enough to have the surgery.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Pittcity Tue 15-Nov-22 07:38:35

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Looks like it might rain. The heating booted on for a while but has now reached temperature. I have my smart thermostat set at 19° when we're in and it works well.
Volunteering at charity shop as it's Tuesday.
DH has booked a fasting blood test at 10.30..what was he thinking? I'll have to have my tea and toast out of his view or he'll accuse me of torture.
Love to all 🦩 x

GrannySomerset Tue 15-Nov-22 07:40:30

Wonderful cleaner, supermarket and two new radiators for the sitting room so a busy day but should finish with a clean house, a full fridge and a warmer sitting room. That’s the plan, anyway.

Looks grey and wet and the forecast is dismal so am glad my contact with outside will bed limited. Must get up and empty the glass cabinet because the plumber threatens to be here soon after 8.00 am. Hope we all have a good enough day.

cornergran Tue 15-Nov-22 07:44:53

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset.

Nothing of interest yesterday and another routine type day to follow today. A paper mountain to begin to sort this morning, Mr C will be on shredder detail. My over winter task is to reduce what we have filed away to a hill rather than a mountain. Garden centre this afternoon as a reward.

Hope all goes well with the blood test tomorrow mick. You’re a wise woman gifting your treasures to welcoming homes grandmattie. Good to hear you sound more energised ash. You’re right ginster, it’s rare for repair folk to arrive when they say they will. A bit like cleaners grandmattie, I’m sorry you were let down again. Those head full nights are draining sar, take it easy today.

We were chatting recently about the days of queuing outside a supermarket pre Christmas, usually went to the one where mince pies were handed out to waiting customers. Pre Christmas delivery slot booked. It will be useful for our son who is hosting Christmas and will have full days with little time for grocery shopping.

Take care everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

NannyJan53 Tue 15-Nov-22 07:46:56

Good morning from a grey and very rainy Black Country.

I was finally answered by the Doctors Receptionist after 2 hours! I only needed a Doctor to prescribe ear drops, as I have a sore ear, and it makes wearing hearing aid impossible. Doctor rang me about 11.30 and prescription was ready in the afternoon. Never had to wait on the phone that long before.

Car MOT and service this morning at 9am, then we are off to Telford to view another house.

Glad you are slowly improving Ashcombe I imagine it is slowl and steady

Wishing you all a good day

Grandmadinosaur Tue 15-Nov-22 07:49:34

Good morning all from East Yorkshire.

A usual Tuesday for me. Coffee morning and then GS collection after school.
Feeling a bit down with the miserable weather so chat with the ladies will cheer me up.

I’m sure you will love Granada brook it’s an amazing place.

Unsure of our Christmas plans. I broached it with DS last week but said they hadn’t decided yet. As he hadn’t mentioned anything I assumed they were going to DILs family. When this happens we have to drag the info out of him. I think he feels a bit guilty about us being here on our own if that’s the case. Me I’m just glad when it’s over. Sorry to be a grinch but just not in the mood this year.

Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Tue 15-Nov-22 07:50:54

brook, Granada is one of my favourite places in the world.
I was a university student, when I first visited my friend's boyfriend who was studying there.
My first glimpse was from a hilltop, where it glowed in the early morning sun.
I have been back many times.
We were on a tight budget: sitting up on the night train from Glasgow to London, sleeping on the floor at Gatwick and being moved on by armed police, first flight ever, on a Dan Air Comet ( which my brother renamed as a Dan Air coffin ) in a horrendous thunderstorm, with the dark, black sky, lit up by lightening, train from Madrid to Seville, where my friend (the girlfriend) was studying, and not a word of Spanish!
What an adventure!
I received my first love letter from DH in Seville, I knew then he was a keeper! 🥰😍
