Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and also raining here in brackley this morning.
Housework on the agenda to start with followed by hopefully a good walk to my surgery and back for blood test .
I am aiming at a 20 minute walk both ways weather permitting .
Take Care,
Mick

Morning all

I have cooked the 7yr old his full english loaded the dishwasher just waiting for him to get showered and dressed (he likes to use my Jo Malone shower gel so goes to school smelling delightful) this one definitely has a huge space in my heart. I think it’s because I fetched him and DD straight here from hospital when he was born, her partner was already showing his true colours. He will FaceTime mummy and baby brother before he leaves for school.

I have the gym and some admin to do afterwards, like Sar53 has posted it is raining, raining raining ☔️💦☔️💦

I do hope Ashcombe is seen quickly and able to be back at home waited on by OldDudders

grandMattie you are such a kind and generous soul, your DL is so lucky to have such a good friend. I think you have done the correct thing letting her know when you need your home back.

brooke2704 Granada and particularly Al Hambra is one of my favourite places in the world, I hope you enjoy it.

Have your best day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 16-Nov-22 07:51:04

Good morning all from so far dry Harrogate. Yesterday it just siled down all day!
What an awkward but necessary conversation that must have been GrandMattie. I’m glad you managed it. Thank you for updating us about Ash hope she’s soon back home.
Good luck with your blood tests Mick.
Yesterday I got busy with more Christmas baking - 2 chocolate logs and a Swiss roll. We also had the man to service the heat pump, then I went off to the hairdresser.
Today we will have a run out in the car, which might involve stopping at a shop or two?
Have the best day possible folks

NannyJan53 Wed 16-Nov-22 07:51:57

Good morning from a dull Black Country.

Car passed MOT with no problems. I have only driven 2500 miles since the last one! Still came away over £200 lighter as I had a Service also.

No real plans today, may go to gym this morning.

So sorry to hear about Ash hoping she will be recovered and home soon.

Fingers crossed for you NanKate it seems Covid is going to always be with us. At least you have all your jabs.

GM in no way should you feel bad, you have gone above and beyond. Seems her other friends are just fairweather.

Have a good day everyone

Gala Wed 16-Nov-22 07:56:23

Good morning from Sefton. Overcast but brightening here. Damp underfoot but forecast to be a rain free day.🤞
Dance exercise class first thing then cinema this afternoon. With any luck it will be virtually empty.
Time to think about yourself gM. You have given so much already. And all good wishes to Ash. Hope you are soon on the road to recovery.

ginny Wed 16-Nov-22 08:01:53

Good morning.
First day at sea and it is rather choppy.
Art, craft and exercise sessions are on the agenda.
Thoughts with Ashand all who are poorly.

Grandmabatty Wed 16-Nov-22 08:04:06

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0°. Quiet skies above. Grandmattie thank you for the news about Ash. I hope she recovers quickly. What a blow for her on her road to recovery. A hard discussion for you Mattie too. You took your DL in when no-one else offered and have shown much kindness.
Yesterday was up and down. Dgs2 is teething mightily. Four horrible nappies, two of which woke him from a nap early so he was grumpy and out of sorts. Then we got drenched picking up dgs1 from nursery.
Today I'll visit mum then I'm meeting my friend at a garden centre for coffee. She says she's feeling a bit better. Later I'll maybe make biscuits or a cake. Have a good day all

Marydoll Wed 16-Nov-22 08:13:50

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where its only 0°, the coldest day so far.

I am vexed to hear about Ash. 💐

A very difficult situation to be in GM. You have gone above and beyond.
I feel sad for your friend, that she has no family and friends, who have turned out not to be true friends.
Trying to be kind, perhaps her friends have neither the ability, nor suitable accommodation to support her.
It set me wondering why hospital social services did not intervene and try to arrange temporary care, rather than her having to rely on you..
The poor lady must be really anxious about what lies ahead.

I had a night full of weird dreams and plan to do little today. I'm struggling a bit and becoming quite annoyed by it all.
It's Dollie's birthday on Friday and my plan yesterday, was to brave the dark depths of my old hot water cylinder cupboard, to find what I had stashed.
This is where we keep the suitcases and Christmas presents and junk.
The exertion triggered an angina attack and I was forced to lie down and binge watch my foreign rubbish dramas. 😉
Last year I realised she was overwhelmed by the cornucopia of presents, so I had decided to cut down and put money into her bank account instead. She is thoroughly spoiled by everyone!

What I did discover is that I have no Christmas jammies for DD, unusual for me.
We have a ritual, on 1st of December, I give her packs of Christmas socks ( bought in the last year's Christmas sales), then on Christmas Eve, she is given the new pyjamas,
Due to my sorties out being limited, my stash is very low 😞, I need to up my game.

brook, I'm so envious of you, I hope you have as many happy memories of Granada, as I have.
I brought back my first pair of Spanish, leather shoes from that trip: olive green, strappy wedges. I felt so sophisticated! That's when my shoe addiction started. 🤣

I have only read the first few posts, so I will go back and see what you are all up to.
Have a good day, folks.

Abitbarmy Wed 16-Nov-22 08:14:41

Good morning everyone, DGD was supposed to stay yesterday evening then here for the day today as usual but for the first time ever she wanted to stay at home with Mum, Dad and the twins. She is understandably a bit discombobulated at the present with their arrival. Hoping she comes today as usual though or we’d miss her terribly. Very worried for Ash so she will be in my thoughts today, well done GM you have already gone over and beyond. Now you can plan and relax a little. Must dash and get hair washed etc. before the arrival of above, have the best day you can everyone.

grandMattie Wed 16-Nov-22 08:14:51

Urms, I know you are always on the lookout for a good book. I’ve just finished a charming story- “Kansas in August “ by Patrick Gale. Try it…

Marydoll Wed 16-Nov-22 08:18:17

NanKate I'm sorry to hear your Covid news, I hope you and Mr NK escape it.

Susan, it was lovely to see you posting again, but I was upset to read of how unwell you have been.💐

Urmstongran Wed 16-Nov-22 08:39:24

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp but no longer raining. Mild though. We’ve still not needed to put any heating on although we did put the winter duvet on the bed when we returned from Málaga!

Nothing happening here this morning. This afternoon I have a French manicure booked at the salon over the road then I’ve one or two purchases to make and will use our independent shops. We were just saying last night it’s nice in our mid-sized town of 41,000 folk we have so many bars and restaurants and no boarded up shops. Long may it stay this way.

Book club tonight at the railway station pub opposite. Easy for me! I’m not drinking though for a couple of weeks. Give myself a bit of a de-tox. It’s too easy to drink every day on holiday! Already I’m sleeping better.
😊

EkwaNimitee Wed 16-Nov-22 08:47:31

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny dry Carlisle.
I'm off to do the ironing shortly followed by some minor cleaning ops, then we shall see....

Worrying to hear about Ash, I hope all goes well with her.

Have a good day if possible, all of you.

baubles Wed 16-Nov-22 08:49:03

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s very cool but dry and bright.

I’m sorry to hear that Ash is in hospital again, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Marydoll your frustration is palpable, I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time.

Enjoy beautiful Granada Brook. We did a similar road trip around Spain a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m running out of sparkly wool for my angels so today will include a visit to Hobbycraft where I’ll do my best to restrain myself from filling up my basket with all sorts of nonsense.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

aggie Wed 16-Nov-22 08:55:42

Good morning from a bright Co Armagh, the sunshine is a bit watery
I’m wondering whether to hang out the washing , it might not get much drier
Village club this morning , then I hope to visit my neighbour across the street , she is a stalwart of the Club , but took a tumble and hurt her right ankle and left shoulder , it will be so hard for her to sit still ,

hollysteers Wed 16-Nov-22 09:01:19

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Very enjoyable time at the music club yesterday and I’m getting used to being in charge ‘on the desk’. When I introduced my own songs, I talked about one bringing Italian sunshine to a rainy day, then mistakenly sang an English song as it came up first on my backings🙄 Our violinist would like to do some duets with me so I am looking forward to that,

After helping to clear away there and a little shopping, I picked up fish and chips in the village to make life easy (I also add pies, fish cakes etc and put them in the freezer right away). Then the inevitable dropping off to sleep watching TV.

Off to have my roots done soon, a drive of around 30 minutes, but I like this hairdresser as they take no notice of me! What I mean is I’m not fussed about too much and they just get on with it. I also sing my scales in the car.
So sorry to hear Ashcombe has another problem to cope with, sending thoughts to her and anyone with troubles.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 16-Nov-22 09:03:43

Just popped back in a very excited gran to tell you we have had a 12 week scan picture of our fourth grandchild cooking up nicely. Our son and his wife in China will be due at the end of May with their first. Our son couldn’t go in for the scan as it’s traditional in China that men don’t. He will be in for the birth though.

grandMattie Wed 16-Nov-22 09:04:04

Marydoll, the hospital was only too glad to get rid of her. The Social Services only offered her washing care.. Nothing useful
OT went to see her house and deemed it suitable !!! A twee little cottage, tiny rooms, two up two down, full of steps, curvings stairs and no downstairs loo. It was impossible to let her go there - sitting in a puddle of wee or worse, seen to twice a day for a wash and/or food. Not possible.
The whole care services were delighted to let me shoulder the burden. Very sad really.

Kalu Wed 16-Nov-22 09:04:07

Good morning all from a sunny but very chilly Glasgow. Thankfully no frost as the window cleaner has just arrived.

Sorry to hear Ash is back in hospital.
You have been so kind to accommodate your DL. GM. She will indeed know who her true friends are now.
I will FaceTime GD2 later to find out if she is feeling any better. 🤞

No plan for today, just take it as it comes. I have put some sheeps wool and dried leaves in the new nesting boxes, hope the new residents approve.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 16-Nov-22 09:06:05

I am delighted to hear your wonderful news Shazza you must all be thrilled. I hope you will be able to visit them very soon 😀

aggie Wed 16-Nov-22 09:07:33

Pressed send too quickly !
Best wishes to Ash
gM you have already gone above and beyond , it will be a relief to get your house back to yourself !
Take it easy today Marydoll

Urmstongran Wed 16-Nov-22 09:09:23

I will, thank you grandMattie. It can be my next book. I’m reading Portrait of a Marriage by Maggie O’Farrell at present. It’s quite descriptive and starting to irritate me because of that. Nothing like as good as Hamnet in my opinion.

It’s good you had the awkward conversation with your dear lodger yesterday. On the plus side, you have saved her many weeks of hotel accommodation. You’ve been stellar scooping her up and taking her in.

Perhaps some of her friends don’t live alone and their husbands aren’t keen? Plus maybe they don’t have a downstairs bathroom. Whatever their reasoning doesn’t mean they aren’t good friends in other ways in her life. I don’t like to be mean about people’s reasons. Most people are good souls and do their best where they can. Restrictions apply.

Sorry to hear about Ash too. A horrid setback for her. I hope she’s better very soon and out of hospital, back home for TLC with olddudders. He will be anxious in the meantime I dare say.

Stilllearning Wed 16-Nov-22 09:11:45

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire. I don’t seem to have had a moment to bless myself with recently, the same today so I’m just popping in to say hello. I have managed to read most days which has been good and among other things I have been envious of your trip to Spain brook, like Marydoll it has brought many happy and some crazy memories for me

Very sorry to hear about Ashcombe, sending prayers and good wishes. Also keeping my fingers crossed for you and your DH NanKate

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🦩🦩

Urmstongran Wed 16-Nov-22 09:12:25

Happy news indeed Shazza! 👶

Nannagarra Wed 16-Nov-22 09:16:25

Good morning from another corner of Sefton where the weather is as Gala states.
A friend is arriving in a few minutes so I need to get a move on. DGC will be with us later.
Have the best Wednesday possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, but at least it is not raining at the moment. Should be dry enough to venture out this afternoon to the well-being cafe. Nice and cosy at the moment as DCat is sitting on my knee; it is her morning routine. Slept in till 8.30.

So concerned to hear the news about Ash, hope she makes a speedy recovery.
And grandMattie you have done the right thing.

Yesterday I finished the cardigan for my elderly friend, sewed the buttons on, then felt I had to wash it. It has been in and out of my knitting bag, being handled for about a year, and likely as not covered with cat fur(!), and luckily it washed and dried beautifully. I will give it to her this afternoon at the well-being cafe. She wants to pay me for making it, but I said no, just reimburse me for the wool, it has been a pleasure to make.

Then, at a loose end, I dug out the cardigan I was in the middle of making for me and started on that again - I am having to relearn the pattern. Kept me out of mischief for the rest of the day!

Hoping everyone has some time to take it easy today - looking at you, Marydoll.... Wishing all a good day.
