👍

Smileless2012 Fri 18-Nov-22 20:34:26

As you obviously know what VS finds a shame GagaJo maybe you could answer my question.

GagaJo Fri 18-Nov-22 20:44:15

🙄

Smileless2012 Fri 18-Nov-22 20:49:10

I'll take that as a 'no' then.

Am finding these huge hearts icky.

Mollygo Fri 18-Nov-22 22:15:44

*And these are for all the transpeople who are suffering because of the bad publicity caused by the evil, unfair and dangerous actions of some trans and some TAF and TRA and those who refuse to condemn those actions.

Thanks for the icky huge hearts VioletSky. Lets continue spreading trans love.

It's easy
All you need is love

The huge hearts in so many posts would be icky in any colour, nothing to do with trans issues Glorianna but at least a couple of people are enjoying them it seems.

Smileless2012 Fri 18-Nov-22 22:34:22

So can you answer my question please VS. What does your 'what a shame post' mean? It appears to have been directed at me and if so, I'd like to know why.

I find that VS doesn’t answer questions when she can’t explain.

Glorianny

paddyanne54 thanks for your post. I've decided to ignore all the rants and applaud the posts which recognise the difficulties trans people face and support them.
One positive supportive trans thread on GN would be lovely sunshine

No one's ranting against transpeople. We are saying the whole issue has become extremely messy because of those men who simply decide that they now identify as women and are therefore entitled to access women only spaces - ignoring very public statements by women that this makes them feel unsafe and disrespected.
This is pondered to by many businesses and institutions and has resulted in a backlash against trans people.
So women and transpeople are suffering because of the selfish and thoughtless behaviour of a few and the 'WOKE' aspirations of those who enable it.

NanKate Sat 19-Nov-22 08:43:51

Well said VintageJazz

Time and time again the majority of us say - we are NOT against trans people.

However we don’t want the rights of women, so hard fought for, to be taken away from us. What is so wrong about that?

Mollygo Sat 19-Nov-22 08:54:36

Good post Vintagejazz, but the truth of your words will fall on stony ground where blinkered posters are concerned.

It amazes me that someone can’t understand that the problems for peaceful trans, not just for females, have been caused by some trans themselves, and exacerbated by the actions of those who either
• applaud their actions,
•reinforce their actions by using violence towards women
or
• are unable to admit that those actions have caused the problems.

I’m wondering if I should identify as ‘gender conforming’?

Trans Awareness Week also wants to raise visibility and acceptance of us too.

I’ve never given birth, I don’t shave my armpits, I’ve never worn heels…
Is there a check list somewhere?

The umbrella term LGBT etc + has become almost all encompassing.
It must be very ideologically confusing working in that area

Mollygo Sat 19-Nov-22 09:03:08

Excellent FC. That would give a whole new meaning to the derogatory use of GC. 🤣🤣

The umbrella term LGBT etc + has become almost all encompassing
a fact which is not totally welcomed by those under the umbrella.

Smileless2012 Sat 19-Nov-22 09:03:28

When we voice our concerns about the negative impact a few are having on those who simply want to live their lives in peace and safety, we are being supportive.

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Nov-22 09:29:59

Well, I’ve just completed an online gender quiz.

I’m 40% girl; 30% a-gender;
20% gender fluid; and 10% boy! 😃

‘Whether you were born with a vagina or not,’ it tells me, ‘you think you should have one’

No wonder da kidz are confused with this rubbish floating about

Smileless2012 Sat 19-Nov-22 09:34:03

Think I'll give that a miss Fanny.

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Nov-22 09:45:52

I’ve just completed another one. This time I’m non-binary (which wasn’t previously an option).
It goes on to tell me that I ‘need to talk to a Gender Therapist’.

Mollygo Sat 19-Nov-22 09:47:06

Sorry, that quiz sounds like the c**p the 6th form mentors handed out to Y7 girls (11-12 year olds) until parents reported it to the head and the governors and put a stop to it!

You don’t like make up? You’re probably asexual.
You like to wear different clothes at the weekend? You might be bi.
You prefer hanging out with girls? You’re probably gay.
You hate periods? You’re probably trans.
Unbelievable? I wish it had been!

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Nov-22 09:49:19

Oh Molly That really is awful. And I can very well believe it.
Was it at your school? I would have been fuming

Wyllow3 Sat 19-Nov-22 10:21:39

My step niece is head of a big school in a large city in the SW. I had a long chat with her on the issues as it was coming up for discussion at a meeting I was going to.
I have to start by saying that Molly that is very rare (and very silly!)

*The main point she made straightaway was that most of "da kidz" know far more about it than us oldies or most of their parents. And accept that gender fluidity is part of their lives as they are now. Not all do of course, but most.

And are not troubled about it, except for the few who would be troubled about it but now have the chance for their inner?? to have a space for discussion when previously it wasn't there.

The school takes the attitude that they make clear that anyone needing to talk has the chance. Of course, some students take the mick and mess around with putting this or that pronoun on something coming their way.

they have an interesting conundrum and I'll tell you how they deal with it as I think its very instructive.

There is a young person there who is one of the few who knew from as early as they can remember that they didn't fit into their biological gender identity.

Certainly no one in the family pushed it on them, as they are hostile.

So the school has been pragmatic and at school X is "she and her" and uses her chosen female name, and her fellow students accept it - but when the school talks to the parents, they use "he"and her birth given name.

In relationship to that minority who seek to cause distress and trouble I repeat, as I have throughout this discussion, I have no time for it. However the constant "shock horror stories" which are constantly paraded out do in fact as far as I'm concerned do ultimately become part of transphobia because they do not give a balanced view.

We need to "hear", imo, some of the early postings where there are loved family trans people and imagine the effect of the "worst examples" being the only representation of trans life.
