Good Morning Saturday 19th November 2022

Morning all from a grey, but dry West Oxfordshire. I am having lunch today with my friend who sometimes has scenes in restaurants! In the meantime elder son and his family are coming around lunchtime. He is going to help OH move some rocks in the garden. When I get back from lunch I’ll see if granddaughter might like to help me weigh the ingredients out for our Christmas pudding. I’m still in bed but must get up soon to sort their bedroom out! Yesterday I stayed home apart from putting my car in for a service and mot. It was just as well really, as the weather was dire all day. Fortunately the car passed so I am mobile again today. I had a lovely day pottering and made some bread. I did all the housework I normally do today so that's freed me up.
Today is dgs2 first birthday. He's a wee personality all of his own. I'll go to dd's later this morning with his present. Firstly I have to go to the pharmacy to get my prescription. Fingers crossed that it's in as I've run out of a necessary one. Then the rest of Saturday will be quiet. Beef casserole for dinner. Have a good day all.

Thank you for the birthday wishes yesterday for my GDs 1st birthday. She was a star at her birthday meal and devoured her piece of birthday cake. A friend of the family had made a dress for her gift. She wore it for the meal. It was gorgeous and what a wonderful,thoughtful thing to do.

We have no plans for today apart from calling in to see the family.

I missed out commenting on your trip brook I’m so glad the Alhambra lived up to expectations. A stunning must see place. You said the weather wasn’t the best but it was September when we visited and it was too hot then really. I’d like to return on a cooler day. You must be so excited to be meeting up with your friend. It’s certainly been some holiday for you. Enjoy.

Good morning Mick and all from very chilly, sunny Lueneburg. I have not written for a long time, but I have been reading your posts quite frequently. Seeing "Urms" post yesterday in which she mentioned the train to Liverpool spurned me into writing. I lived in my house in the Sefton area for over 2 months last summer. There was so much to do like joining the U3A, joining the bridge clubs, walking on the beach and entertaining visiting friends and family. I feel very much at home in England as I came to Britain when I was young. Now I am hoping to come to live near my family in the new year.
Waldi is rather showing her age. She is blind and can`t hear hardly anything (a bit like me). She follows me around and I have to whistle to make her find me. She is over 15 years old now. Despite all her ailments has her appetite not diminished.
I suddenly realised that I am old (not inside, though) and I have to move over to England rather sooner than later. I have been
doodling a bit due to loving it here as well and having 2 sisters and friends here.

Over the last months I have shared your sorrows and your happiness. All my best wishes go out to you.

We both slept in this morning! Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a beautiful sunny day. The car is being picked up for annual service and MOT. It’s 18y old and so I have my fingers firmly crossed!

We are off in an hour to have the grandchildren for the day while their parents take the train from here into Manchester. Glad it’s a gorgeous day for them. They fancy a wander about, a coffee and are going into one of the museums. Himself will take the Boy Wonder in their family car to his football match at noon. They are playing Man. Utd girls’ team apparently.

L’il Miss and I will think of something to amuse ourselves. Partly play ‘school’ and Barbies but go out somewhere too.

Right, time to drink my tea and read all your Saturday doings. x

Enjoy your day out to Winchester Bluesapphire - sounds good. Your shepherd's are lovely grandmattie and enjoy making the sheep. So sorry for your loss Greyduster 💐. So sad. Also sorry your recovery time is going to be protracted, Ash, but I'm sure you will be sensible and take it slowly. A shame your plans for Christmas have to be changed, but at least you'll be together with olddudders. Glad you're still enjoying your holiday Brook - enjoy your catch-up with your friend.
I had a lovely catch-up myself yesterday with my niece, but our usual natter was very much interrupted because she had two of her grandchildren with her - my great-great niece and nephew. It was an in-service day at their school. I don't see them all that often, so it was lovely to see them too.
I did check before I left that the roads were OK - I was more concerned about whether the Tay Bridge would be closed due to the high winds - and all was well. I met my first flood less than half a mile from my house in the road leading to the main road, but after that all was well. Coming back, after another half day's torrential rain, was a different matter! The north bound carriageway of the dual carriageway was flooded and a long diversion through small towns not made for the traffic volume was in place. And that took us through another flood that I'll wager was deeper than the one we'd been diverted from! I then avoided the road to the house that had been flooded that morning and took another one further down the hill. That too turned out to be flooded by field run-off but I could see the house by this time so ploughed through it. I'm glad to report my car is watertight! I shall be staying home now for the foreseeable.

Good morning from the edge of S Lanarkshire where I am staying for the weekend helping to look after DD’s little dog while DD and DSiL are off to Venice for the weekend. My sister in law and good friend is here too and we are having a good catch up. Walks planned if the rain stays off and lunches out.

Good morning from a rainy NE, yet again.
Had a lovely lunch with my friend, I had a vegetarian meal which was delicious and we shared a bottle of Sancerre.
I spent the rest of the day watching the Crown.
Sister and BIL will visit this afternoon and we will have a drink and a chat.
GD2 has to go into school as it is open day and she will be showing potential pupils around. She is the perfect student for the job as she is an -all rounder- and plays the piano and sings in the school choir.
She will arrive here about 1pm ready for her lunch.
Sorry about your December plans Ashcombe but it is still early days, take care.

My day as ever starts with the gym, a little top up shop, and more sorting and trying to discard “Stuff.”

I’m planning to move sometime next year so doing it “bit by bit”. My move is like to be “down the road” as it were amselerin sorry you’ve had difficult choices.

I’ve had to ponder the Big Question - do I move to completely strange area to be near family, or stay with “the familiar” and don’t think I have the oooompf for a completely new start.

Definitely always plan loo access on any undertaking, BlueSapphire, enjoy.

You’re probably right about the invites, ShazzaKanazza. when I visit the family I arrive with a box of “what i can eats” but not so easy with invitations.

Enjoy days out and poorlies and loved poorlies take good care today as ever. Its hard to cancel or give up on things! I recommend tai chi or even better if you are very restricted, chair yoga (lots on U tube).

Yesterday I decided to do a trip to Ilkley on the bus. Not a good move,
We got to Otley and discovered buses no longer go straight to Ilkley , despite what it said online! S got a bus from Otley to Ilkley. We did the shopping we wanted and waited for the bus which should come at 1.42, and waited and eventually got a bus back to Otley. After a 45 minute wait we got the bus to Harrogate and we’re back by 4pm instead of around 3pm. Good thing we didn’t have a dog anymore, she’s have been demented by then.

Just about to put some washing out to dry, but will turn the heating on for the first time, the oodie and wooden socks need a bit more help.
Will pull out a frock for next Tuesdays gig and the band are coming here for the last run through tomorrow.
DS still asleep here after local rock concert..
Art group and rehearsals yesterday, but for some reason, couldn’t draw anything worthwhile, but always nice to see everyone. Quiet day today, thank heavens.
