Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and looks cold out there in brackley this morning.
Yesterdays bus journeys went to plan via Buckingham, Anway today a quiet day indoors , may ponder out for a hour for exercise.
Take Care,
Mick

Ashcombe Sun 20-Nov-22 05:57:16

Good morning, Mick and all who follow from a fine start in Torbay.

Thank you for the kind comments yesterday regarding my travel predicament. I’d wrongly assumed that being allowed to drive from six weeks post operation meant that I could drive beyond my immediate environs. No doubt many of you discover the conflicting advice from medical experts, depending on where you look. Recently, I’ve found the British Heart Foundation to be the most reliable.

In the afternoon, DH was on duty as Front of House Manager for the matinee performance of Ladies’ Day. On his return, he regaled me with a full account of the experience which included three separate patrons arriving at 2.25 p.m., one of whom required disabled access, causing the curtain to be five minutes late in going up. During the course of the performance, he found himself dealing with a lost mobile phone, a blocked toilet in the Ladies and a freezer alarm going off! All this on top of his routine duties and whilst wearing his penguin suit!

Condolences to Greyduster and family on your sad news.

Some super photos yesterday, NanKate and Georgesgran! Welcome to Moth62 and welcome back to amselerin!

I hope everyone has a restful Sunday with relief from cares and worries, safe journeys and happy reunions with family and friends. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

grandMattie Sun 20-Nov-22 06:10:52

Good morning from a dark, overcast E Kent.
Many hugs and condolences Greayduster, welcome back amselerin.
My word, Ash, your DH did work hard last night…. I didn’t know front of house had all those extra jobs. Well done him!
We had a reasonably quiet day yesterday, with DL’s usual endless phone calls, texts and visitors.
It was cold and miserable all day. I don’t remember feeling so chilly at home so early in the winter. I’ve put up the thermostat.
I went to the coop for some eggs. Not one in sight. I asked at the wonderful paper shop if they could get me some, next time they shopped. Blow me if they didn’t have some there!
I have finished a white sheep for my nativity. I’m going to make a grey one, then black and brown, perhaps another white one so as to have a “flock”.
Happy birthday to all those with recent birthdays, and those to come. Have the best day possible. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, s somerset seems as though it will be a mixed day ahead, rain at intervals

I also need to get outside today, am reluctant to burn car petrol, so will walk around my little town and as always, say hello to everyone I pass, unless they avoid my smile and then I respect their `no communication` signal. A smile and an hello costs nothing

I have resorted again to making a short note in my diary, meals for the day, otherwise it is all to eay to go the Esther Rantzen route and dive into crackers and cheese.

I am glad you are being good Ash, it will be worth it

grandMattie Sun 20-Nov-22 06:30:19

PS Urms, I have just finished an odd, but charming book called “Mr. Doubler Begins again” by Seni Glaister. Not laugh out loud but certainly raised a few smiles…

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 20-Nov-22 06:55:25

Good morning from a damp and chilly Oxfordshire, rain overnight but there is a sliver of moon up there through the hazy sky.
Chicken tray bake today, then we are back to our usual routine of dog sitting, I’ll try to persuade MissOops to stay, her leg has swollen up again and is very sore, she is doing too much as we knew she would once she went back home, I think her Consultant might have to have a few words with her on Wednesday.
However Nephew is putting the weight back on that he lost whilst she was here ( far too busy to eat, bless him, he has nothing to do all day, but in his head he is rushed off his feet) his CT scan was cancelled whilst they were on their way to the hospital, not that a diagnosis will make any difference.
Anyway, kettle has boiled so I’ll grab a coffee and read all of your news.
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who aren’t feeling so chipper.

Greyduster Sun 20-Nov-22 07:12:16

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s wet, cold and very dark, with the faintest glimmer of light in on the horizon, in South Yorkshire. DD is running a half marathon this morning and the conditions will not be good☹️. DS and DiL came down yesterday and we had a nice day. He was in good form and I was glad of the company.. I cooked roast chicken and blackberry and apple crumble which went down very well. He wanted a run out in my new (to me) car and it got his unqualified seal of approval. Not much going on here today. I will try and have a walk if it dries up, and ring my late BiL’s two girls and see how they are doing. Times like this I wish we all lived nearer to each other but they are in Wales.
Sounds like Olddudders had his hands well and truly full, Ash👏! All good wishes for your continued recovery.
Have the best day you can folks.

Gingster Sun 20-Nov-22 07:17:56

Good morning all and it’s dark and wet here in Essex.

Yesterday was full-on with DD and family, but I think there is a little improvement 🙏. Today I will take little gd for her swimming lesson. She’s already missed a couple and really wants to go.

I made a cheese and tomato loaf of bread yesterday which is delish. So easy in my Lakeland silicon bread ‘maker’. We had it with my spiced pumpkin soup. I took some round to DD’s along with a shepherds pie.

Roast chicken today. It’s only small so I might fit it into my air fryer. I might make a bread pud with my (Stalish) currant buns.
I’m in cooking/baking mode at the moment.

I’ll wrap a few more Christmas presents and sort through what I’ve got and what else is needed.
It’s DH’s and DS1’s birthday on Friday - I’ve got DH’s presents but have no idea what to get DS. 🤔. Ten days later is DD’s birthday. Db’s is on 23rd Dec and 3 friends all before Christmas . Oh dear! 🤯. Bad planning! 😏.

I’m rambling on, so will stop now - wishing you all a ‘happy’ day. ❤️

mumofmadboys Sun 20-Nov-22 07:20:59

good morning all! Good to read everyones news. We are going to look at a possible house today for our UA family to rent. They have been with us for 6 and a half months and it would be so lovely if this worked out. It is only two minutes walk away from our home so we will still be able to support them. The landlord is very sympathetic to their situation so is charging lower than normal rent. Bless him

BlueBalou Sun 20-Nov-22 07:27:12

Good morning everyone from a damp corner of Wiltshire, it’s a chilly start here.
I sympathise Gingster with the December birthdays, I have 14 between mid November and Christmas and I dread this time of year.
Well, my doing slightly harder DDog walks has proved to be foolish, I won’t be trying that again 😳, clearly my heart failure has put paid to me being ambitious so it’s back to walks on the level as much as possible.
Never mind, I enjoyed the glorious sunshine!
Today we’ll potter around the village I think, have a coffee at the Coffee Waggon and enjoy having a chat with like-minded others.
Have a peaceful Sunday everyone x

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 20-Nov-22 07:35:45

Good morning all from Harrogate- haven’t opened the curtains to see the weather. Goodness Olddudders was kept busy, while you have to take it easy Ash.
My sympathies for your loss Greyduster.
I’m looking forward to seeing a photo of your complete Nativity GrandMattie
Urms I highly recommend a book by Kristin Hannah, especially The nightingale’ or The Four Winds’
Enjoyed a coffee and chat at the church yesterday. Hope to make it to church again today. Will probably catch up on ironing this pm.
Have the best day possible folks

Greyduster Sun 20-Nov-22 07:37:37

MOMB I wish your UA family all good luck. You’ve worked so hard to support them and see them properly settled.👍🏻

Wyllow3 Sun 20-Nov-22 07:39:30

Morning all, a dull start in S Yorks

Quakers and gym today

Best wishes to poor lies and family poorlies - not the best time in the year to get a cluch of birthdays either.

And mumofmadboys good to hear of the "goodie" landlord

Beechnut Sun 20-Nov-22 07:47:09

Good Morning everyone from damp Severnside.

I’m pleased to have done a small declutter and got rid of the stuff easily. Today I’ve got to put my new toilet seat on in the bathroom. Fingers crossed it will go ok although an awkward job. More washing to do and will have a salmon salad to eat.

One thing I won’t be doing is dusting. I dropped a can of spray polish on my foot a few days ago, it hurt and I woke up next morning with a bruised toe and the shape of the can bottom on my foot.

I’ve shopped for a few Christmas presents and had a nice time in Hobbycraft while out the other day.

Have a good day all 💐🦩

Good morning all from soggy South Lanarkshire.

It was good to see Amserlin posting again, welcome back.

I’m waiting for my butler to bring me coffee but then I’ll get moving. Going to earlier Mass today as I then have to help my crochet group spread out all the poppy displays to dry. They were taken down a couple of days ago and we have the use of the Scout hall to dry them for storage.

Later we will meet DD and family who are taking us out for a meal to celebrate DH’s birthday which falls midweek.

Wishing you all the best day possible especially those with illness or worries.

Gala Sun 20-Nov-22 07:54:25

Good morning from a dull & overcast Sefton. It's not raining at the moment but it has been & it will again.

Lunch out yesterday in a posh upmarket establishment (with some of those foodie stars) was a real treat. Beautifully presented delicious food, impeccable but informal service in a rural setting just a 5 minute drive away. Back to reality today & a rummage around the freezer. An inside pottering day in view of the weather & a read of the papers.

Take care all & have the best day possible.

Ashcombe Sun 20-Nov-22 07:54:53

Greyduster

MOMB I wish your UA family all good luck. You’ve worked so hard to support them and see them properly settled.👍🏻

I agree! It sounds like you’ve found the right property for your UA family, mumofmadboys, with a landlord with a kindly disposition. 🤞

GrannyGravy13 Sun 20-Nov-22 07:56:36

Morning all

I think it’s been raining here all night and we have more forecast for today, a good job I am not going anywhere.

Yesterday I wrapped all the gifts and I now know who I have to buy for so I shall busy in the internet today. I have the last few cards to write then I shall curl up on the sofa and read. Roast beef for dinner this evening.

Have a peaceful Sunday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Marydoll Sun 20-Nov-22 07:59:59

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 5°C.

MOMB, its good to see you posting again. I sincerely hope all goes well for your house guests today.

DH is kindly taking me out early to pick up some heavy shopping and a click and collect at Sainsbury's.
Nowadays, any lifting usually results in a dizzy spell and breathlessness. His Sunday mornings are sacrosanct, so I really appreciate this, especially as he absolutely hates shopping!

If we are back in time, I will pop down church to catch some people, who need their disclosure checks updated.
I wonder why they all rush away, when they see me coming! 😁

It will then be home to relax. For today's dinner, yesterday I made steam, air fried roast chicken in the Ninja ( a success) and a huge batch of empire biscuits, ( in case of visitors) so I'm doing nothing!

For those feeling poorly, I wish you a gentle day. Have a pleasant Sunday, folks.

Grammaretto Sun 20-Nov-22 08:00:21

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it feels cold but dry.
I have a a family coming for a pottery class this morning and this afternoon there is a concert at a local church to look forward to.
Tonight Elvis the movie at our community cinema.
I'm so pleased that your Ukrainian family may be moving to their own place "MOMB* is it really 6 months! I do admire you.

Have a nice Sunday everyone.

Marydoll Sun 20-Nov-22 08:02:09

I meant to say, I hope NanKate and her DH are on the mend. 💐

ShazzaKanazza Sun 20-Nov-22 08:03:05

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a rainy Hull.

We had a lovely time at friends last night and they cooked us a lovely meal. Snitzel and dauphinois potatoes with homemade apple pie was greatly enjoyed and all gluten free. So kind.
Today we may see the Grandaughters and Sister and Brother in law are coming over too.

Wishing you all well today. Enjoy your family and friend gatherings and Sunday lunches.
Hugs to the poorly DDs 💐 and to those weighed down by stress 🌻🌻

cornergran Sun 20-Nov-22 08:09:12

Morning Mick, morning All. Looks like our corner of Somerset had overnight rain, cloudy and dry at the moment

Garden finished yesterday morning after lunch we walked along the riverbank to our nearest shops returning by bus. I had a full night of sleep for the first time for months, you’d think I’d feel great this morning, nope, more dozy than usual.

Paperwork and Christmas wrapping for me today. Mr C may finally get to finish his jigsaw. Roast pork later, we’re very relaxed about Sunday timings.

Take care everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Nov-22 08:14:25

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4°. It's dry at the moment but has been raining.
Yesterday dgs2 had a lovely birthday with lots of toys and visitors for him. I made cinnamon rolls in the afternoon and took a couple across the road to my new neighbours. They moved in n a couple of weeks ago and have gutted the house. They still don't have a proper kitchen so I reckoned a wee treat would be acceptable.
Today I'll go to Aldi for food in the morning. I need to have provisions in for my hungry boys. Then dgs2 has a birthday party with soft play etc and lots of little people. It is not my idea of fun but my aunt and uncle are going so I'll have company. Chicken casserole for dinner. Have a good day all.

NannyJan53 Sun 20-Nov-22 08:17:03

Good morning from a cloudy but brightening Black Country.

Lovely family get together at DB & SIL's new house. What a stunning house! 4 bed, with a walk-in wardrobe the size of a small bedroom! Near Worcester, but in a lovely village, where there is a thriving community. They love living there already.

Today MrJ is off on a bike ride with his club, then they meet at a scout camp for a sausage sizzle. So, I shall drive over there and meet them for a sausage bap at lunchtime.

Great news for your UA family MOMB I hope they settle in quickly, which I am sure they will with your support.

Hoping NanKate and DH are feeling much better now.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday
