Good morning from Durham where I can’t believe it isn’t still raining! My plans for today for a walk with DGS1 in the deep dark woods, followed by an hour with DGS2 have been thwarted, as Amazon is delivering an item which must be accepted by someone over 18 and signed for. I have plenty to do around the house and I may even make a start on my Christmas cards, although I’ve made a decision to cut them down quite drastically to my friends and family, rather than DH’s friends and relations, most of whom I didn’t know and never saw.
Nice to see a few familiar names returning to the GM thread, I often think of ‘sheep’ and wonder where GSMum has gone.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudy and bright in my corner of Lancashire. Currently 8°C.

I haven’t read the thread properly yet, only skimmed, just want to wish MOMB and her guests a successful outcome today.

Wishing you all a Happy Sunday 🌻

‘Food hacks’ I like that Gala! 😁
Yes I’m all for short cuts after almost 50 years in the kitchen. I do my own roasties though!

I desperately need some food hack lessons 🤣

I like the cauliflower cheese that comes frozen in a bag. The ones from Lidl and Aldi are particularly nice. Adding cheese on top is compulsory though.

Another hack is using half fat creme fraiche instead of a roux when making a cheese sauce.

Bluesapphire I would have liked to have been at the Gurkha remembrance service. DH served with them in Borneo just after we got married and they were very special to him, as they are to me. “Ayo Gorkhali”! Roughly translated - “The Gurkhas are upon you”. They were such good mannered, gentle chaps, if you didn’t know, you would have wondered where they got their fearsome reputation.

Good morning from a dank Co Armagh,
Nothing planned for today , I’m hiding in Neighbours house while my lovely Latvian lady works her magic in my house , if I don’t leave we spend the time talking and laughing 😂

Megs36 Sun 20-Nov-22 10:52:37

Good morning all, nearly afternoon but I’ m still in my dressing gown, must get moving meals on wheels here soon.
Bad news from consultant yesterday, biopsy confirmed my suspicions, lung cancer, operation and radio therapy not possible, too widespread. Conventional chemo mentioned but immunotherapy ,targeted treatment maybe considered, depending on a couple more reports on biopsy. Will meet oncologist in the next couple of weeks for discussion. how did this happen, always been fit, never ill , ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 all familyquitestrong, a few tears but trying to hold up. Think of me!

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
DS still here and cooked a chicken last night, then we watched some tv. DS, DD in south and yours truly had a face time which lasted two hours fifty minutes😳 DS tried to put an extra piece in my watch as it’s now too tight on my wrist, to no avail, will take it to a watch shop. I had booked a ticket for a local play, just for myself, but having DS here was so nice, I didn’t go and think of it as a donation to the theatre.

Final rehearsal with band here this afternoon, so will have a tidy up.
Haven’t read through properly yet, but thoughts to anyone with worries.

Good morning from the NE where we had heavy overnight rain.
Had a lovely day with DS and GD2, love to hear her playing the piano. I have a traditional piano, she has an electric one and the feel of the keys is not the same so she likes to practise on mine.
I am a member of an antiquarian society and we have just been informed that one of our historians has died. He gave talks on every aspect of local history but as an ex policeman his knowledge of historical crimes was phenomenol. He had a captive audience whenever he gave talks, he was also the author of many local history books.
SIL coming this afternoon, we will make dinner together, tonight we are going to have pork medallions in a wholegrain mustard sauce served with roast root vegetables.
Good to hear your family have found a home, I used to live in Cumbria and I know how difficult it is to acquire affordable housing. Where I lived rented accommodation was prohibitive and I was just outside of the national park.
Have a good day everyone.

Megs I am sad to hear your news, although my memory sometimes plays tricks on me I think you and I are about the same age.
I will send prayers for you and your family.
My neighbour has had a second diagnosis of cancer recently and is doing really well on immunotherapy, no side effects and it seems to be working , he looks so well.
Every good wish to you.

harrigran Sun 20-Nov-22 11:12:32

Thoughts are with you Megs.

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Nov-22 11:13:21

Greyduster Sun 20-Nov-22 12:14:03

Megs I can’t tell you how very sorry I am. I know from experience that they will strain every sinew to give you as much time as possible; they have a lot of rabbits in the hat. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers🙏🏻.

dragonfly46 Sun 20-Nov-22 12:15:46

Megs my thoughts are with you. I have a friend who was given 2 months with lung cancer but had chemo and now the cancer has completely gone so there is hope.
I know how you feel having also gone through a cancer diagnosis so sending you massive hugs.

Ziplok Sun 20-Nov-22 12:20:56

Urmstongran Sun 20-Nov-22 13:19:35

Megs I’m so very sorry to hear your worst fears have been confirmed and hope your hospital team can keep your illness at bay for as long as is possible. Words are so inadequate at times like this. My heart goes out to you. x
