Does doing something remind you of a GN poster?

😁

Every time I look at my phone during the night and ā€˜second guess’ what time it might be I think of Maw as years ago she did a thread on the topic. Whenever I eat a crumpet I think of EllanVannin! And at this time of year I always think of grandMattie who explained why my Christmas candle bridge could stay up until early February and it pleased me because I love it’s comforting soft light and my mum bought it for me.

Do any of you associate actions or things with any of our posters? (Or is it just me? 🤣)

Aveline

Ooh am I a 'usual suspect' JaneJudge?

When think of someone really caring, thoughtful and a Christian in the best sense of the word, I think of Ashcombe

Blossoming Mon 21-Nov-22 20:36:25

Oreo in Phoenix’s own words,

Mix cut up gammon or ham with cooked Turkey (I leave the chunks quite big so they don't disintegrate), then use condensed mushroom soup to bind it together, season, (a bit of dried sage and black pepper is what I use)

Use frozen puff pastry, line a plate, put filling on, top with pastry, make leaves etc to pretty it up, glaze with beaten egg and cook.

In case that’s not clear FannyCornforth if this thread is used as an excuse to have a pop at posters either still on here or those who have left it’s a poor do.

Oreo - I’m sure urmston knew I was smiling as I posted. We are northern women/girls on opposite sides of any political fence. We’ve been known to disagree but also not to take ourselves too seriously. It’s possible to disagree strongly about some issues without ā€˜having a pop on a light hearted thread’

Aw, absolutely Iam64! 😁
And šŸ‘‹ to you girls Dickens and Galaxy on the opposite side of the political fence!
Life, like GN, isn’t all about politics anyway.
We’d probably all get on like a house on fire (provided we swerved certain topics ha!).

Click the above link Dickens.

Oh that explains it, I am Northern too, and have very different politics to Urm but her posts often make me smile.

... it must be because I'm from up North then because I often like Urmstongran's posts (hi Urms!) even tho' we are politically on different sides.

And your mentioning of lemongrove... it seems like GermanShepherdsmum isn't posting now. She and I are also politically divided, but I always got on with her. I hope she's alright and just taking a break from GN... as people do.

I'm curious about the 'gammon' thread and wished I knew what it was about - it sounds fascinating.

Ditto Taking in parcels for neighbours !

NotAGran55 Mon 21-Nov-22 19:47:16

Every time I see a Tesco delivery 🚚 I think of Elderly Person

nadateturbe Mon 21-Nov-22 19:46:57

Anniebach posted an update on how she is recently on Black Dog thread.

ixion Mon 21-Nov-22 19:37:54

Indeed. When browsing European River Cruises for next year, I think of all the lovely (and knowledgeable) contributors to the Virtual Cruise threads which ran.
Well, the fun parts, anyway.

Iam64 Mon 21-Nov-22 19:37:31

JaneJudge - GSM is another interesting poster we don’t see now. We disagreed on lots of political stuff but we seemed to share a common view on essentiald

Callistemon21 Mon 21-Nov-22 19:33:03

Thanks, * Blossoming*.

I had to think and see because I don't have much time to do anything other than work atm, in the employed sense and freelance and when doing that I think of GSM who said I needed to do something more boring and better paid grin

JaneJudge Mon 21-Nov-22 19:27:55

Whenever I think of the usual suspects I think of Aveline

Whenever I see people wild swimming I think of BlueBelle

Whenever I hear an owl I think of FannyCornforth

When I see people unable to drive their Chelsea tractors in the countryside I think of Lucca

Oreo Mon 21-Nov-22 19:23:58

That sounds delish Blossoming using up leftovers? Will you put that recipe on here? It needs a white sauce does it?

TerriBull Mon 21-Nov-22 19:22:30

Also wondering about Annie, hope she is able to read our collective concerns, she always said GN was a lifeline for her. Sorry to hear how debilitating her arthritis is. We send our best wishes if you see our thoughts about you Annieflowers

Blossoming Mon 21-Nov-22 19:21:07

It’s the Curse for me KittyLester and the recipe she gave me for turkey and gammon pie. We’ll be having it on New Year’s Eve and I’ll raise a glass to a witty and generous lady.

Callistemon21 Mon 21-Nov-22 19:15:59

I do think about Anniebach too, especially when Welsh and the Eisteddfod are mentioned. I hope she's ok.

Sorry to hear her arthritis is stopping her posting.
I find using a stylus better than fingers or thumbs.

She particularly liked that hapless policeman.
Me too.
A useless fact: his niece played the youngest child in Outnumbered.

BlueBelle Mon 21-Nov-22 19:08:51

I too have been wondering if anniebach is ok

Sarah74 Mon 21-Nov-22 18:56:53

I think I read that Anniebach was having trouble using her iPad because of arthritis in her hands.

Aveline Mon 21-Nov-22 18:54:50

I think this thread started out very pleasantly until derailed by a usual suspect. It was started with good intention. Most posters responded accordingly. I was just thinking about anniebach recently as we both used to love Doc Martin and would post about it. She particularly liked that hapless policeman.

Oreo Mon 21-Nov-22 18:42:32

I’m not Northern Iam64 so maybe that’s my mistake, fair ennuf if you and the OP have an understanding.
Am on loadsa forums and I see this stuff all the time, any old excuse to have a go, settle scores, old grudges, yada yada.
The bridge comment aimed at Aveline being one like that.
Ok kittylester I get your point and have had my say.
