Oh Gingster you sound really busy and a huge help to your daughter. It’s good she can lean on you at present.
😊

You have a treat in store tomorrow brook! I adore Malaga.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 22-Nov-22 08:12:42

Morning all

Sar53 enjoy watching your DGD’s performance today, such a talented young lady.

Ashcombe good you managed a walk in the fresh air along with a talk from your priest,

Gingster well done on your gift shopping, sorry that your little family are still poorly.

Today I shall put the Christmas bedding on in the two guest bedrooms as well as in the GC’s bedroom I also wind fairy lights round the bed heads in the GC’s room along with pitting all the Christmas teddies on the bottom of the beds. The 7yr old will be so excited when he comes for his sleepover tonight.

Then it’s off to Mayflower to pick up more click and collect orders.

Have your best day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning all from a cold Glasgow, where its only 0°C.
Yesterday was bitterly cold, the hospital and shopping mall are beside the river and were even colder than here.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend, GM. I hope they find a bed for her soon.

As expected, I was discharged from the clinic yesterday. The surgeon was so kind, I was ashamed that I had deemed him, nippy.
He apologised for not being able to help me and expressed how sorry he was at how problematic my health was and that little could be done for me.
The only solution would be injecting steroids deep into my hip, which is not an option, due to everything else that is going on.
However, he found the biopsy results on the system, was very annoyed at the delay, read them and said, he felt that the news should come from the consultant (protocol) and that he was going to write and complain, that their tardiness was affecting both my mental and physical health.

Normally, we encounter very heavy traffic on our journey, it only took half an hour and we were at Braehead by 09am, too early for my appointment.
We seized the opportunity to visit the M&S food Hall, where I managed to pick up a few gifts.

On arrival at the hospital, I was taken early and out before my actual appointment. That's a first! (Everyone was masked!)
We then came out of the hospital and a bus arrived immediately! I couldn't believe how smoothly everything ran.
I managed to get the Christmas jammies for DD, but was exhausted by this time, with very painful feet.
Unlike others on here, orthotics have been no use at all for me.
After grabbing something to eat, we made for home, where I promptly fell asleep!

Today, I am supposed to be meeting my ex colleagues for lunch in town. Of course TKMAXX beckons, Urms.
I would like to go, but am shattered after yesterday. I need to get out of bed first, then decide,
I have become a bit of a recluse, since I had to shield and don't socialise very much now. I prefer to be on my own most of the time.

Hoping all goes well for those with medical appointments and safe journey for all the travellers.
Have the best day possible folks?

Good morning all from a dull but dry Black country.
Yesterday rained nonstop.
No plans today still waiting on DH prescription surgery have sent it so waiting on the pharmacy.
Birthday wishes to anyone celebrating and safe travels those on the move, virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some 🌞.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 22-Nov-22 08:15:15

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. As Grandmadinosaur said we’ve had such torrential rain and DH has just read out that part of the A63 between Hull and Hessle in flooded down to one lane.

Happy birthday to your DD GrandMattie. 💐

Wyllow we have a large plant where I’m sitting right now and it’s always twinkling with lights. It gives a year round cosy glow. Hope the Dr can help your infected eye.

Urms I took a screenshot of your recipe. Can’t remember when we last had pork it looks very tasty.

Today we are starting our Christmas shopping so will head off to a shopping centre. It’s pouring down again here again.

Have a good day everyone. Special hugs to those suffering illness and family worries. 🌻🌻

Good morning from a sunny and cold Oxfordshire, yesterdays weather was awful and so cold, let’s hope todays is better.

Just a trip to the Chemist to collect MrOops prescriptions today, then I must sort out some clothes for our holiday, most of the paperwork is done, so many bits of paper to print off, what happened to a paperless society?

Had a rubbish night as MrOops didn’t turn the Telly off properly and it was talking to an empty room at 1.30am, I didn’t get back to sleep until 5.30am. Tonight we start unplugging it.
Our fairy lights are around the fireplace all year round so we light them on gloomy evenings, they’ve been on a lot recently and are very cheery.

Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who aren’t so chipper and for all those who are worried and stressed.

GrannySomerset Tue 22-Nov-22 08:20:22

Somewhat unnerved by neighbours’ pictures of three young men checking all the houses in our close early yesterday and didn’t sleep well. If they were prospective housebreakers, as seems possible, it’s hard to feel safe any more, and despite ensuring that everything is locked there is really little I can do.

However, life must go on and today holds supermarket shop and a craft session so I had better get on with it. Good to hear positive news from Ash, hope Cornergran has good journeys and the rest of us have a good enough day.

Susan56 Tue 22-Nov-22 08:26:18

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday went well with my mum apart from the torrential rain all day which made the drive home difficult.

I phoned mum’s bank and they needed to take her through security questions and at one point she said very politely well you would know that wouldn’t you🤣

Today we are picking DGD up from school and taking her out for shopping and tea.She is so excited as it will just be the three of us.

Thoughts with all unwell and with worries. Also all awaiting hospital appointments and test results.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Gala Tue 22-Nov-22 08:42:22

Good morning from Sefton. High cloud with bits of blue struggling through this morning. Very wet underfoot with lots of puddles but not actually raining. I'm late this morning, just been woken by DH with a cuppa. Have slept right through the night for a change. Wish I didn't feel quite so groggy though.

Hand weights exercise class on zoom very soon. That should wake me up! Perhaps I could do it in my pjs, turn the camera off & claim I'm having techie problems.
Then a visit to the fish man who parks next to Lidl which is very handy. It would be a shame not to take advantage... I can hear the middle aisle calling. Back home for essential household chores & ordering some more Christmas stuff on line. I will be forced to use Amazon (am under orders to get specific items) & seem to spend far too much time trying to avoid inadvertently signing up for Prime - lots of sneaky little tricks to get you to sign up. 😠

Will have to catch up with all your busyness later. Take care all. Take care all

Susan56 Tue 22-Nov-22 08:44:42

GrannySomerset, how frightening.

Do you have a ring video doorbell and motion sensor lights.Amazon will hopefully have some good prices on them on Black Friday.

I think it would act as a deterrent and hopefully give you peace of mind.

BlueSapphire Tue 22-Nov-22 08:50:15

Good morning everyone from a damp and cloudy Northampton. Will be trying to dry the towels today, but may have to resort to the tumble dryer. The same with the bedding.

Not much to report about yesterday, a couple of hours of housework after yoga, then spent the afternoon catching up with the weekend newspapers. I have just noticed on drawing back the blinds that the cover for my outdoor bench is completely ripped, so will have to do an emergency repair while waiting for a new one.

Dental check-up down in the village after lunch then I shall walk up to the sports centre to meet the folks from my walking group for a coffee and chst. Or I may come across them on my way there as this is the day for our village walk. Then I shall get a bus home - or walk if it's not raining as I can then pop into the paper shop and pay my bill.

Thanks for the SOAP recipe Urms. That sounds right up late DH's street; he would have loved it, pork was his favourite. I guess I could make a mini one for me.

Hope today goes well and to plan for all.

Urmstongran Tue 22-Nov-22 08:53:56

GrannySomerset I’d leave a lamp on in another bedroom (if you have one) with the curtains closed. It sends a signal that someone is perhaps awake and reading in bed? Might give you extra peace of mind anyway.

harrigran Tue 22-Nov-22 08:55:35

Good morning from a grey but dry, for now, NE.
SIL came yesterday and took me shopping in Newcastle, I bought more than 100 tree decorations but oddly could not find any bauble hangers. It will be annoying if I have to resort to online for such small things. Tree has a nice new green velvet skirt too.
Had lunch in John Lewis which was handy for continuing shopping.
We were tired when we got home and just had a sandwich and a cup of tea.
I am going to have a quiet day but probably not watch TV as there is nothing that interests me at present.
Thoughts are with poorly people and those recuperating.

luluaugust Tue 22-Nov-22 09:05:54

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. I have decided to start wrapping some of the Christmas presents, cards are under way.
Successful trip yesterday to the opticians and no new glasses needed by either of us, so I guess that is a few pennies saved.
Best wishes to all

Georgesgran Tue 22-Nov-22 09:11:34

Good morning from Durham. After yesterday‘s thick freezing fog, we are back to gloom and rain! Babysat yesterday afternoon while DD2 had her foot wound inspected and re-dressed and before dark, I took DGS2 out in his push chair, both of us well wrapped up. Called to see DGS1 on my way home - he has one line in his school Nativity play - ‘Joseph came from Bethlehem’ - he’s struggling with it - he’s not a good talker at the best of times!
Coffee this morning with a friend at a local garden centre, then onto my rental house, which has had little interest. It wasn’t the plan, but looks as if I’ll have rent it out again - I’m missing the income and picking up all the bills there too. I need to return some thing to B&M, then call at another friend’s house to pick up her post and check it’s secure. She’s back on Thursday, so that’s an airport run for me.
Amazon delivered a few parcels yesterday, so I feel more in control of my Christmas shopping. Boots have the perfume for my neighbour’s daughter and I want a Pandora charm for another friend’s granddaughter, so might get those this afternoon. Looks like a busy day ahead.
I wish a better day for those feeling below par and a good day for those lucky enough to be on holiday. X

GrannySomerset Tue 22-Nov-22 09:46:16

Thank you for sensible suggestions. We have a motion sensor light at the front and I leave the landing light on but am cross at being made to feel vulnerable by greedy and thoughtless people because they could be waiting till Christmas to test us out. Not good for the already too high blood pressure!

Ziplok Tue 22-Nov-22 09:49:47

Good morning.
It’s yet another damp, grey morning. I find these days so depressing as it never seems to get light.
Sorry to read about your scare, GrannySomerset. It’s unnerving to know people up to no good have been snooping around checking doors and looking for weak spots. All you can do for now is check that everything is properly and securely locked up (even when you’re in), set your alarm if you have one and perhaps arrange for someone to come around from the police (if they still offer the service) to point out safety measures you can take to protect your home. Nothing is foolproof to a determined thief, but you can make things as difficult as possible for them, so they move on.
No plans for today other than some shopping.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Taichinan Tue 22-Nov-22 10:00:12

Good morning all. The weather is 'variable' on the Angus coast - in the past hour I've seen every colour of cloud, a heavy rain shower passing by but not hitting us here, a rainbow and an intense shaft of sunlight which suddenly lit up the field and the woods beyond. No wonder it takes me so long to get started in the morning!
Dancing GD enjoyed her second weekend workshop with Scottish Youth Dance. I've watched a little bit of video of it (I couldn't pick her out!) and what talented young people they are! Her younger sister was out driving with NewMan beside her and her mum sitting in the back. Apparently "he was quite calm, but mum was a bit stressed"!! I know how she felt - I remember sitting with her when she was learning ...... 😁

Megs36 Tue 22-Nov-22 10:11:55

Blood test yesterday and start of steroids but nothing yet from cancer nurse in preparation of future (hopeful) treatment. Apparantly that will depend on another lab test of biopsy..
Cheers everyone, I’m almost envious of your trips out shopping! my son took me to Morrisons yesterday. It seemed amazing because first time since start of pandemic😛😛

Taichinan Tue 22-Nov-22 10:15:39

Oops, must have pressed send too soon! Anyway as you will note, nothing of interest to report. I read all your doings with interest though - what busy, talented folks you are! Glad to hear you're progressing well Ash - your priest sounds 'just what the doctor ordered'. I too have taken a screenshot of the SOAP recipe Urms. I am so not interested in food these days - maybe that will kick start the taste buds. I'm enjoying your holiday Brook - please feel free to mention your wonderful weather! By contrast I believe there's snow around Fort William (probably on top of Ben Nevis!) so make the most of it.
I hope your black sheep gets finished today grandmattie. You sound as if you're beginning to relax a little more. Thoughts to all who are under the weather, especially Megs.
Take care everyone, and have a lovely day doing whatever brings 🌞 into your life x

hollysteers Tue 22-Nov-22 10:20:08

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Taking it easy this morning as singing this afternoon with the band, the gig we have been practising for for a while. I am doing the lovely duet “I remember it well” with colleague, but he’s having trouble remembering it well😁 I’m thinking of putting some keywords on a fan for myself as we have only sung it together a couple of times. I do enjoy dressing up for these events. I’m also taking my lovely antique Spanish shawl for the comedy song “I want to sing in opera” which you may have seen Patricia Routledge do so well.

Glad you are seeing an improvement Ashcombe and I hope your treatment helps Megs36🌼

Purplepixie Tue 22-Nov-22 10:28:21

Good morning from a very wet and dark East Midlands. Knitting this afternoon.

aggie Tue 22-Nov-22 10:48:41

Good morning from a dry Co Armagh! The sun is peering out too , beads of moisture on the bushes shining like wee lights , I tried to get a photo but they don’t show
Trying to remember my crochet pattern , I must have made a different stitch than the pattern stitch , it does look odd
Thoughts and prayers for all our poorly friends

Blossoming Tue 22-Nov-22 10:58:32

Good morning Mick and everyone. After a foggy start it is sunny and dry here at the moment.

No real plans for today. I seem to have another mass of paperwork to sort, file or shred. Where does it all come from? I have good intentions to deal with it as it arrives, but it only takes one bad day and it starts to pile up again. Also, my chilblains have played havoc with using Touch ID on iPad, good job I can remember the vital passwords!

Hope all our poorly grans and family members are on the mend. Wishing you all a good day. 🌈

mumofmadboys Tue 22-Nov-22 12:02:23

granny somerset i agree a lamp on is a good idea or leave a radio /tv on during the day when you are out.
