Good Morning Everyone,
A dark and dry start here in brackley this morning, plans to do usual shop in Bicester, want to get some aluminum trays for cooking and Wilko seems to be the place to go .
Return home and have a quiet afternoon snooze .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° with clear skies. Gingster I'm thinking of your poor daughter. She's having such a hard time. Brook enjoy Malaga. Grandmattie why did you not immediately uncork your finest champagne? The cheek of some people!
Yesterday was busy. An early dentist appointment where the lovely dentist sorted out my teeth. I'm starting to feel like an old horse when I look in the mirror though. Then I visited mum. She was in a reasonable frame of mind and I stayed for nearly an hour. I decided to visit my friend in hospital. Parking is problematic but I managed to find a space in the furthest away car park. I was wishing I hadn't worn smart shoes by the time I reached the entrance. She was looking really poorly indeed and in lots of pain despite the morphine. Last Wednesday we were sitting in a garden centre, having a coffee and a blether.
Today I'm having a quiet day. I'll potter about the house. I enjoy these quiet days as a means of gathering my strength. Cauliflower cheese for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 7 °C. I slept badly, I'm in agony after hurting my back yesterday.
Old spinal fractures means my back is always achy, but this is excrutiating and my prescription gel, is having no effect!
DD, bless him, has just brought a hot water bottle, I'm surprised he knew where it was, he is never cold!

Gingster, my heart goes out to your poor daughter, she has been through the mill. 💐 We mums would rather be ill ourselves, than watch our children suffer.
Your comment, never be ill, really resonated with me. I said exactly the same thing to DH yesterday, after another failed attempt to obtain my biopsy results.
Our local hospital is at crisis level and I have been terrified of being admitted, since my last horrible experience there, after a heart attack.
Thank goodness, most of my clinics are in the larger teaching hospitals.

Ash, what a disappointment for your DD, I hope she manages to arrange new flights.
I'm afraid, GM, unlike other posters, I laughed at the only champagne comment, I have a strange sense of humour and that's the kind of statement I would make in a sarcastic tone.
Playing devil's advocate, I wondered if the guests didn't want to put you to any bother, hence the refusal.
Not long now before DL will be gone. 💐

I now have to get my bloods done fortnightly, such a pain, as it's in a different town. Emergency stomach medication, also to be picked up. I'm not holding my breath on them being there.
DH has offered to drive me and I shall seize the opportunity to visit Asda nearby, the scene of the lost handbag debacle, after the previous blood test.
There is a TKMAXX next door, but I will give it a bye.
I haven't told DH yet, that we are going, I'm still plucking up courage. 😉

We had a surprise visit from SIL last night, with a pile of Metros and the Czech non alcoholic ( hard to find) beer I like.
I like to do the crosswords in the Metro..
The door went again, it was the Ebay queen with roses (my favourite) for me.
Her DH is my DHs golfing partner and my DH had been telling him, how I was struggling just now. It was so kind of her.

I wish you all a gentle day and a bearable one for all who have troubles.

Good morning everyone from a bright and dry Northampton. Up earlier this morning as I was due to speak on our local radio - which I have just done! They had been looking for listeners with a tenuous link to a Football World Cup country, and my tenuous link was Uruguay - when I was a teenager my aunty had a lodger who had been a manager at the Fray Bentos corned beef factory in Fray Bentos, Uruguay. Then the radio station wanted a live chat this morning as Uruguay play their first match today. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but I think I got through it OK, especially as I don't know a thing about, or follow football at all!

That's enough excitement for one day I think! A gentle morning; must phone a local tour company to confirm and pay for three day trips I have booked next year. Early lunch and out to tap and ballet classes.

Must now go back and read this morning's posts. Hope today goes well for all.

Good morning from S Lanarkshire where it looks very Novemberish.
What a disappointment for your DD Ash, I hope they can find an alternative provider, both sisters must be so looking forward to spending Christmas together.

Gingster I can only send thoughts and prayers for your DD, which I do. Please God things improve soon for her.

My DGS had a good check up with his cardiologist yesterday, two years before he needs to go back. His only concern now is what part (if any) he gets in his Nativity!
‘I don’t want to be Joseph Granny’, (translation, I want to be Joseph).

A lovely funny lunch with student DGD yesterday. I can hardly believe that we have reached that stage. As I feared I made a hash of travelling on the Subway and required assistance from sundry passers by, Country Granny goes to town!!

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all. The sun will be up soon over the Angus coast - if it can find a way through the cloud. Forecast high winds and rain this afternoon.
Goodness grandmattie! What kind of friends does your lodger have!
Enjoy your nap this afternoon Mick. I will be doing the same as I've only had about three hours'sleep! But first, tai chi.
So sorry for your DD Gingster 💐
I hope your DD and family can find other suitable flights but it will no doubt be difficult at this time of your. So distressing for them.
Well done to your DGD Sar. How proud you must have been.
Have the best day you can everyone, and I shall pop in and see you all later x

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 24-Nov-22 08:07:49

Good morning all from so far dry Harrogate
I hope your DD manages to find the flights Ash
Your poor DD Gingster hope she feels better soon.
Yesterday managed a long awaited trip to Lidl for some extras.
Today I have my shopping delivery from Sainsburies.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a dull Black Country, where it rained heavily overnight.

Well-being walk this morning. Then back home for lunch then off on the train to Birmingham. We had tickets for Florence & The Machine, but were e-mailed Monday it has been postponed as she suffered an ankle injury dancing on stage. Hotel is booked and paid for with no refund. So we will go to the cinema and a meal afterwards and make the most of the hotel.

Then back tomorrow morning to take Mum to a memory clinic in the afternoon. All she keeps saying is "What happens if I fail?" I try to explain it's not a matter of pass or fail, but that is all she can focus on.

Oh dear GM - "only drinks champagne"? They must be permanently pickled!

Gingster so sorry that your DD is going through this. As Mums we would rather it happens to us. I hope she feels much better soon.

Such a disappointment for your DD2 and family. I hope they can find a suitable flight. Fingers crossed.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Grandmadinosaur We have a shopping centre near here called Merry Hill. Which locals call Merry Hell!

brook2704 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:53:59

Good morning everyone from Malaga -sorry Urms I’m sounding like you ! We arrived yesterday after an easy journey and got settled into our little apartment in the city. We’ll be exploring today and finding our way around.

So sorry to hear what an awful time your DD is having Gingster I hope things improve a bit soon, poor girl 💐
Also it must be such a disappointment and a hassle for your DD Ash I hope things can be rearranged ok and the long awaited trip can go ahead.
only Champagne I’m speechless gMattie!!

Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:42:15

Morning from a damp Co Durham. Sorry to hear of all the troubles , hope things are resolved or improve soon.

Lazy day yesterday, got many Christmas gifts ordered on line.

Just waiting for DGD to arrive for breakfast and then walk to school.

Meeting a friend for a meal in a local Italian restaurant this evening , second meal out this week, took DH to a local pub on Monday. Making up for all the missed meals out over the past two plus years.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:40:07

Should be BL has been, not is.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:39:18

Good morning from a calm and clear skied Oxfordshire, let’s hope it lasts, yesterday was a mixture of sun and torrential rain.
Hairdresser this morning, then a clean through and that’s it.
GM words fail me, I’m assuming that your BL is organising online food shops ready for when her guests visit?
Ginster so sorry for your daughter, waiting for a bus in Winter is awful at the best of times.
Ash let’s hope new flights are found and that their money is refunded promptly.
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who aren’t so chipper today.

dragonfly46 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:36:28

Good morning from darl Leicestershire.

Fingers crossed your DD can rebook Ash.
Surprised your DL’s visitors didn’t bring their own champagne Mattie it really is time she went.

So sorry to hear about your DD Gingster I really hope the meds work and she feels better soon.

Sar53 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:28:30

I hope your DD finds alternative flights Ash, fingers crossed.
GM you are a Saint grin.

Gala Thu 24-Nov-22 07:27:46

Good morning from a dark & damp Sefton. It's not actually raining though.

An enjoyable lunch with our friends yesterday but sad to hear they might be moving away. Zumba class with 'real people' this morning. Then off out to get DH's phone fixed. TKMaxx happens ti be next door. It would be rude not to pop in for a rummage.

Take care.

Sar53 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:26:45

Good morning from Essex by the sea. I'm so sorry hear about your daughter Gingster, I wish her well flowers.
I didn't have time to post yesterday as I left DD2's House early to get home.
Our visit to The Shaw Theatre was lovely, DGD1 did us proud in the part of Romeo. Three schools took part, each doing a different Shakespeare play. They were very creative and so many lines to learn.
Our journey back to DD2'S house was eventful. We got the tube back to Victoria ready to catch a train to Bromley but no trains so back on the tube to London Bridge to get a train to Hayes. We finally got home just before midnight then up again just after six to get the girls to school. I then had a three hour journey to get back to Essex. No wonder I was flagging last night.
I've woken up with a headache so a restful day today.
Thinking of all with worries or sadness, much love xx

Ashcombe Thu 24-Nov-22 07:25:04

So sorry to hear about your DD, Gingster. Such a worry for you all. It’s a shame medical services aren’t more in tune with technology!

Pittcity Thu 24-Nov-22 07:24:21

Good morning from a chilly but dry Colchester. Rain forecast for later.
I am still under the duvet until the heating has done its job. Weird how decadent it feels to turn it on but I feel cold even with warm layers on when sitting still.
Changing the bedding and towels today and probably needing to use the tumble dryer. An expensive day.
I'm counteracting this by waiting for the delivery of an air fryer grin
Love to all 🦩 x

Gingster Thu 24-Nov-22 07:18:36

Thanks Susan. I’ll see if we can get some. Any help gratefully received.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 24-Nov-22 07:16:53

Morning all

Finally managed to bake the Christmas Cake yesterday.

Oh I am so sorry to learn your DD is so poorly Gingster I do hope the meds and increased steroids kick in soon 😘

Ashcombe what a worry for your DD, fingers crossed they can find alternative flights.

gtandMattie good luck in Dover, your DL could do an online shop for champagne 🍾

I have a hair appointment at lunchtime, pottering this morning .
Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Grammaretto Thu 24-Nov-22 07:13:13

Gingster how awful! I hope DD is better soon.

Grammaretto Thu 24-Nov-22 07:10:29

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Wet and windy.
Our DGC teachers are on strike today. I remember vividly the strikes in the 1980s . I had just gone back to work and childcare was impossible. Luckily DD and DDiL can work from home. DSons can't.
I am expecting a visit from an old school friend whom I've not seen for 25 years.

gMattie roll on DL moving out. You have my sympathy.
Ash your DD and family also.
I am nervous about making travel plans with rail strikes forecast.
Have the best day you can, everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 24-Nov-22 07:09:00

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s dark and dry.

So sorry about your daughter gingster poor girl she really is going through the mill. I hope she will feel better soon🙏

Oh dear me GM I think the visitors are taking the **. Champagne indeed.

What a shame about your DDs plans Ash they must have been so looking forward to it. Fingers crossed they can find alternative travel that suits.

Had a good day at Meadowhall yesterday. We got the main present we’d been looking for. Also got a few bits for ourselves and Black Friday discounts in a few places. We had a very enjoyable tapas lunch. It got me thinking if a few of us Yorkshire grans might fancy meeting there in the new year for a meet? Coffees, chat and lunch. Something to think about. I think the term Meadowhell applies as much to the traffic on leaving there but once on the motorway it’s fine and we got a straight through run.

I’m meeting DIL for coffee this morning. I need to start wrapping a few Christmas presents up. DS and family will be visiting other family at the weekend and I’m sending my gifts with them.

Have a good day everyone.

Susan56 Thu 24-Nov-22 06:48:13

Gingster, I am so sorry to hear how unwell your DD is.I hope and pray she starts to feel better soon.So worrying for you all.💐

Is it worth asking the GP for some anti sickness tablets.Buccastem dissolves against the gum and is very effective.🤞🏻

Susan56 Thu 24-Nov-22 06:44:40

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday turned out to be very mild.We sat in the conservatory which got very warm and dozed off watching The Crown.A very lazy day.

Today we are looking after H.Playgroup this morning then after lunch we will go to the garden centre. We will have our free coffees and H loves to look at the fish.Hoping we may get a couple of Christmas presents too.

How disappointing for your DD’s Ash.I really hope new flights can be arranged.

grandMattie, as Ash says no words🤐

Thinking of all our absent good morningers and all with illness and worries.

Have the best day you can.

Gingster Thu 24-Nov-22 06:36:48

Good morning all and it’s early for me.

Yesterday I went to my friends with her birthday card and present. We had coffee and pastries and when I left, checked my phone and had missed calls from DD. She was waiting for a bus in the rain, to take her to hospital for a chest X-ray. She’s not at all well and I felt so bad. I scooped her up and whizzed her up there. She now has Pneumonitis !! Caused by a bad cold and the immunotherapy! Steroids increased, more antibiotics etc. the problem is she is being sick, so everything is coming back up.
My poor girl!

We’ll see what today brings . Dh will take her to the hospital to pick up meds. They don’t do courier service anymore and won’t send the prescription to her GP. No help whatsoever.
My advice to everyone is ‘don’t get Ill’.

Sorry for my moan so early in the day.

I do hope you all have a ‘good’ day.🙏
