Morning Anniebach welcome back
Pittcity hope your mum is on the mend
Giving my pots a bit of a boost after the winter
Good Morning Everyone,
A dark and wet start here in brackley this morning.
A quiet day in I may even start to write Christmas Cards because of the Postal strikes and post over next few days.
Yesterday , Bicester was busy as to traffic where's all the money coming from .
Take Care,
Mick
Morning Anniebach welcome back
Pittcity hope your mum is on the mend
Morning all from a soggy S Hants, it rained all night. MrJ was up and down a few times, lemsip and vick, I’m keeping the house warm.
GMattie very hard for you.
We too enjoyed Knives Out BlueSapphire so I’ll be interested in your opinion of the new one.
My son has mentioned a festive craft fair later, I might go, I’m a sucker for a tombola or raffle. Other than that, it’s football.
Hope Greyduster is recovering well. Lovely pictures brookand ginny.
Have a good day all🦩🦩
Good morning from Shropshire and Annie bore da lovely to see you back.
We will hopefully have a relaxing day today.I will make a few lists! We have a busy couple of weeks at the beginning of December and I always feel better if I have lists to keep me on track!
Pittcity you have my sympathy. We are in the same situation with both our elderly mums in different parts of the country.Even though you have siblings to share the load it is still very difficult for you.
A difficult task for you both GrannySomerset and grandMattie💐also Wyllow💪🏼💐
Thoughts with all unwell and those with worries and struggles and hope Greyduster’s operation went well.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning from a dull and damp Black Country.
No real plans today. Housework was done yesterday, then reading my book.
Gym at some point today, then a mooch around town. I think I will make a start on writing cards too. Will be cutting down drastically this year, no point sending cards to people from the past I never see now.
I saw Glass Onion on Friday BlueSapphire it will be interesting to see what you think. I didn't think it was a good as the first Knives Out though. Although it is worth seeing.
So sorry you are still testing positive NanKate. When I had it in May, I didn't test negative until the 13th day! Although I felt perfectly well those last few days. Hopefully you will be negative soon. Fingers crossed,
Such lovely photo's of Malaga and Lanzarote. We are off to Lanzarote in March, and really must visit Malaga again soon.
Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday
Good Morning from S Yorks
I hope Greyduster is recovering well. Many good wishes for poor lies or family poorlies and outings. I don't see my family till next weekend. As we get older don't we wish they lived nearby!
I've got Quakers then the gym, and thence to face the cards. No problem writing and addressing, its how to frame the news - ongoing divorce (nearly complete) from very coercively abusive Ex. Annus horriblus/east/enders like story. Will be brief and send newsy bit to less people than usual, I think.
Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.
I’m helping with the church teas this morning then meeting DH’s siblings for a late lunch/early dinner.
I must crack on with more crochet angels as I’ve been rather lazy this past few days.
Good wishes to everyone especially those who are ill. Have the best day possible.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a bright-ish Carlisle. We have started off with a milky blue sky but now I see grey clouds gathering so maybe a shower due. Lots of rain and wind throughout the night, I think we've sent it down south now. I'm staying in, I woke up suddenly soon after 6 feeling pale and shivery so got up soon after. Just the usual mild infection that seems to be triggered by my regular venesections...they must be a shock to my ageing body! It's an excuse to loll about reading the papers and carry on with my enormously long novel. It's the third part of a trilogy, each part v long so has kept me occupied for many hours.
Yesterday I drove out to a nearby little town for a change instead of going to Sainsbury's for a top up. Whilst there I also sent off my christmas cards to Oz, the last posting date being next Thursday. Then it was onwards to the next village where there is a food hall that sells local meat. So much temptation! I had to restrain myself as there is only me to feed. I came away with pheasant breasts and local lamb. The latter always tastes so much better than any british lamb I buy in the supermarkets, almost like a different species. I also noticed that they had a lot of eggs, from different hen varieties, that you could buy individually, boxes provided for you to pick what you wanted. Noted for the future, I don't use many eggs. They also sell 'loose' milk. You buy an empty bottle and just come back for refills with it. Not for me, it's whole milk.
Pittcity I wish your Mum a speedy recovery. It's good you have siblings to share the care and worry.
Enjoy the day, everyone.
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a damp Hull it rained through the night.
It was lovely yesterday putting up the decorations but we haven’t done many so it only took 3 hours. We opened a bottle of Prosecco and put our favourite Xmas movies on in the background.
We are supposed to be doing a Christmas dinner today but Daughter has just messaged to say GD1 has a temperature and headache so they are going to do a covid test first. GD is so upset she might not be able to come. We always buy new special baubles for the grandchildren to add every year. Can’t wait to see baby B adding her first one.
I’d like to mention everyone individually today. There is something I can say to every one of you but my post would be to long but I’m thinking of you all. 🌻🌻
Slater Good Morning from Lanzerote where the sun has got his hat on.
We are off on an excursion this morning.
I will come back later to read all the news but wish everyone a good day with a smile along the way.
Couple of photos from yesterday, hope they warm you up
A busy Advent Sunday with group service this morning, a friend’s 80th birthday lunch and then a candle-lit special service in the oldest church in our group of four at which I am reading a wonderful Simon Armitage poem, so I had best get going.
Need to print off labels and make a start on cards and like gMattie will have to share sad news with those only contacted at this time of year. A job for tomorrow, I think.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry. Lovely clear skies too. Grandmattie writing those Christmas cards must be so painful for you. Marydoll I'm glad your friend is home.
Yesterday was nice. I had breakfast with a friend and her daughter who is a lovely woman. We sauntered round the garden centre and sat down in places for a blether. Their Christmas display was excellent however I looked without success for a cinammon scented candle. Later on that afternoon my friend turned up at my door with a beautiful scented candle courtesy of her daughter. I was very touched. I know such lovely people. I watched Dr Zhivago in the afternoon as I was always a little bit in love with Omar Sharif. Those liquid expressive eyes. Then strictly at night.
Today will be quiet, I think. I have no plans except for an ironing. I have to try and iron the wrinkles out of jumpers that I washed at the wrong temperature. Steak and mushroom pie for dinner. Have a good day all.
Lovely to see Annie posting again!
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I seem to have slept in! Not much happening today apart from collecting a roast dinner from the restaurant where we should have been having lunch today! OH’s cold is still awful. I may pop into Waitrose and return a door mat which is too big and a handbag which is grim. I could start writing Christmas cards. At least I printed off address labels the other day. So a quiet day I think. Hope you have a peaceful Sunday.
Good morning all from a dull and damp Black country.
Pittcity hope your Mum is on the road to recovery soon that's the fourth person I've heard speak of pneumonia within the last 2 days, there seems a lot about.
No plans today may start another book.
Roast pork for dinner.
Enjoy your Sunday whatever your plans and may you all find some 🌞.
I think I meant Ginster, not Ginny, I always get them mixed up.
Pittcity, I hope your mum improves soon.
A damp but mild start here in Oxfordshire. It's been raining in the night, the garden and the fields beyond look very wet.
I am doing some Christmas prep today, making Jamie Oliver's special gravy, and vegan equivalent too. This will be popped in the freezer until needed.
A wet dog walk and some housework later. DD1 finished all her chemo related meds yesterday, 3 months since her last session. She is recovering well and swimming twice a week to gain her strength, mentally and physically. Its close to a year since she was diagnosed. How fortunate she has been, but what a hard journey. I'm very conscious of others who are suffering and my thoughts are with you.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
I am so pleased to hear that the pavement outside the Manchester station has been cleaned Urms. xx
Good morning all from a finally dry Glasgow.
Yesterday it rained non stop.
I too love Advent, last night we had had Advent hymns and lit the Advent wreath at the Vigil Mass. It certainly lifted my spirits.
I am giving church a miss this morning. I've been chasing my tail people for weeks on a Sunday morning to complete disclosures and am getting ratty at their obstructiveness, so I have decided to have a break today. Discretion is the better part of valour. 😉
DD has offered to take me to the Christmas market in the local garden centre, if I feel up to it. I would really like to go
I have no voice again, that will make everyone's day. 😂
Yesterday turned out to be a very pleasant day.
DS2 (the Prodigal son) turned up unexpectedly with DIL.
I cannot believe they are going for a twenty week scan on Tuesday. Time has flown by.
DH and I cannot believe how excited DS2 is, he is usually the Quiet man.
They had been to visit Dollie, along with DD and SIL, to drop of her birthday presents.
Apparently she mistakenly thought her gran and papa were also coming and was not a happy bunny, when we failed to appear!
I received wonderful news last night, my friend who had been on a ventilator was discharged from hospital last night. It is a miracle. 😪
My thoughts are with Ginny's DD and hoping Greyduster's op went well.
I admire how you have gone above and beyond for your DL, GM, but I also have some sympathy for her.
I cannot imagine how I would feel, being an elderly amputee, with no family to support me and moving house into the bargain. I too would be anxious and thinking of worst case scenarios.
Sorry your plans have been scuppered Kate.💐
Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.
Good morning Mick and all from sunny, crispy Lueneburg. I have decorated my house (lounge) for the 1. Advent. This first candle is going to be lit on the advent wreath. The 4th candle is going to be lit on the last Sunday before Xmas. I couldn`t get the ladder into the loft down to fetch the Xmas crib down. More exercises to strengthen my arms will have to be done. I shall cook my favorite meal in winter times today: kale cabbage, smoked meat and and a Bregenwurst (slighty smoked sausage). A few mince pies and Xmas biscuits will be baked tomorrow. I was (am) lazy and bought special Xmas biscuits.
Later I am going to visit a friend who is in a home and we shall take a stroll into the lovely Xmas town and have some Gluehwein/punch. Poor Waldi doesn`t venture out of my garden any more and she is walking very slow. Eating and sleeping is the order of the day for her.
Enjoy your first of advent and big hugs to all of you with worries. Take care.
Good morning from cloudy Leicestershire.
Mattie my thought are with you as you face another sad task.
How disappointing NanKate. I too tested positive for a long time.
Pittcity I do sympathise and as an only child I faced the burden alone. I do hope you Mum feels better soon.
Good morning everyone from Malaga where another warm sunny day is forecast
Such a tough time you’ve had gMattie look after yourself 💐
It’s very quiet here this morning, definitely the morning after feeling. Last nights party for the Christmas lights switch on in Calle Larios was spectacular, not usually my thing but I did enjoy the atmosphere. Apart from the beautiful Christmas lights there a light and sound show, lasers and pictures projected onto buildings etc. And to top it all the whole lot repeats every night!
Today we’re going up the coast a bit to El Palo, there’s lots of little restaurants there overlooking the beach for a lazy Sunday lunch
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from rainy Chichester. I didn't type that wrong.
We had to dash down to Hampshire yesterday as my Mum was ill in bed and Dad was fretting about the washing as she had been sick.
He was waiting for the GP to open on Monday to ring up about her. We called 111 and the result is that she is in hospital with pneumonia.
My sister, DH and I are now juggling two elderly parents who both still insist they are fine.
I know that a lot of you can sympathise.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning all and as GG says it’s raining and dreary here in Essex.
Today we have most of the family coming for lunch, which ds2 dropped off yesterday. He was down from Hertfordshire to meet up with his brother and old pals, one of whom is 50 this weekend. 😳. I remember them all as little boys. Lovely they’ve all kept in touch. DS2 travelled around Oz with said birthday boy in their early 20’s.
All I need to do is tidy the house and set the table! 😉.
GM - a sad task for you. 💐.
Ash - glad you’re able to get out a bit and see friends. It’ll do you the world of good.
Hoping you all have a lovely day. 🌺
Good morning all from DS's in Nottingham. I had hoped to mark the anniversary of DH's death by taking the family out for a meal somewhere but the teenagers are all so busy it may be better to stay home and walk the dog.
Cheaper too!
I asked about Christmas presents for the DGC and as I know the DG of a Scotland footballer I am tasked with getting an autograph!
What a year you have had gMattie. No time to grieve
Wishing everyone a happy day.
