Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark as usual but cold and dry out here in brackley with cold easterly wind adding to the chill.
Today a quiet day in watching TV etc , but trying to avoid football matches .
I have put on a little seasonal weight , but have to try and loose some as to hospital guidelines, a few years ago I brought a exercise bike but its pedals only but i can apply pressure to make it harder it gives a display of rpm as well so aim for 10 minutes and increase to keep fit ,as I have suffered outside with the cold chill .
Take Care,
Mick

Thanks Marydoll . She stayed in bed today and 2 of my DC visited along with their families.
not sure if I would want people descending on me when I'm ill

Georgesgran Sun 04-Dec-22 14:09:28

Gracefully received gM. X

Just sneaking in to welcome the newbies. Have as good a day as possible everyone. I’ll go back and read the posts now. 😀😀

Good morning. It’s trying to brighten up here now after a damp start. Chilly though.
Welcome to the new posters.
Beef casserole for dinner today. It’s just defrosting in the microwave at the moment and will reheat up nicely when we’re ready to eat.
Wishing you all the best, greyduster - as each day passes, you’ll feel stronger and be able to get about again before you know it.
Like you, mick, there’ll be no football on in this house either. It does seem to be dragging on doesn’t it? I believe the final is on the 18th December.
Take care everyone.

grandMattie Sun 04-Dec-22 11:14:12

I apologise, georgesgran but she keeps on blaming my Gardner for leaving soil by the front door. I really don’t mind the marks - it was just a comment.
A grovelling apologies to all wheelchair users. 😢

Georgesgran Sun 04-Dec-22 10:50:17

Good morning from Durham. It’s raining and a cool 6°, but a warm welcome to our new posters – I hope you stay with us.
I have no idea how I managed to sleep till 10 o’clock this morning, but feel better for it - I had DGS1 yesterday, so by the time he’d been collected, and I tidied up after him, I was done in.
No plans for today, so I really, really must write my cards which are going to be drastically culled this year.
I know I shall get criticized for this, but while I can sympathize with the situation gM finds herself in with her troublesome DL, perhaps her comments about the wheel marks on her carpet are a little insensitive for those of us who have loved ones permanently in wheelchairs?
Best wishes to all.

Chrissielou Sun 04-Dec-22 10:43:42

A cold and damp start here in Oxfordshire, no sign of sunshine fir what seems like weeks.
A lovely day yesterday, spent the morning with DS2 and family, selecting a tree and followed by coffee and teacakes. We have decided to have a family holiday together next year, which is something to look forward to.
Decorating the house today, mince pie making and a general tidy up, but need to do another muddy dog walk first.
Warm hugs to all who are in need of comfort, this isn't always an easy time for some.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudy in this corner of Lancashire, feeling warmer at 6°C

It’s the annual Santa run (or walk) in aid of a local hospice today, around the Marina and finishing off at a waterside pub. I can’t participate but will be egging them on. They’re underway now so I’ll be back later.

Best wishes to poorly grans and families, hope today is a good one for us all.

Welcome to our new good morningers peli and Mrs Teapot xx

A late good morning from a very chilly looking Essex by the sea.
A local tearoom is having a craft fair today so I will pop along and have a look soon.
DH has gone to rugby, very well wrapped up. He was wondering how many of the young people would turn up today.
I have just put a casserole in the oven, a warming meal for a cold day.
Looking forward to the football tonight.
Have a super Sunday everyone xx

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey cold South Yorkshire. I very late getting off the ground this morning. DD is running this morning in her club’s annual Percy Pud race and at least it’s not wet. DS is filling in for her while she is absent; he has been good company and cooked me a delicious meal last night. He likes to cook. When I went to bed last night my foot was very puffy, which was a bit alarming, but it appears to have gone down now. I feel rather adrift at the moment because I can’t get out to do anything and the run up to Christmas is usually as busy for me as everyone else, but I’m only a short way along this journey so will have to put up with it. There will be other Christmases, Deo Volente!
Welcome to all new posters; let us continue to hear from you.
Kim19 enjoy your veterans lunch! Service catering has come on in leaps and bounds since our mess days. I’ve had some truly wonderful food from the Army and the RAF.
Have the best day you can folks.

Taichinan Sun 04-Dec-22 10:09:12

I noticed some new names as I scrolled down - welcome to peli and Mrs Teapot.

Taichinan Sun 04-Dec-22 10:07:11

Good morning all from an Angus coast feeling the brunt of the east wind. When I came downstairs this morning the hall thermostat was showing only 9°. You're right, Mick and Ash, not a day for outdoor exercise - the heart has to work too hard to keep you warm.
I have started today very late after a restless night - but I must say it was rather nice to wake up to a bright sky. I have nothing planned for today - except for some roast lamb for dinner and digging deep to find the table beneath the Christmas cards waiting to be written hopefully to reach their destination before Easter!
Enjoy your Sunday everyone and keep cosy x

Good morning from a still dark Leicestershire.

Just realised I have nothing in for dinner but I am going to a food and drink fair in the next village so may find something there!

Lovely to see new visitors, as kitty says we love the weather reports where you are and the daily happenings in your lives.

Think my choir will be at your food and drink fair, dragonfly. Wish I could be there!

Good morning all from showery Harrogate. Welcome Peli are you in the UK? And also welcome MrsTeapot hope you both continue to enjoy our chat!
Take care Mick didn’t you lose weight when you were not well? You’ve maybe just got back to normal?
GrandMattie 2 weeks To go for freedom!!
Good to know you have a coughing partner Marydoll you don’t want to cough alone!!
No I didn’t manage to go to the Xmas Market Grandmadinasaur. DD’s lunches tend to be later than planned and quite formal- so we were just finishing lunch at 4pm. Very enjoyable though. I’m unlikely to manage there today. I’ll have to make do with Harrogate’s Xmas market!
Aiming at going to church this am so will have to get a move on!
Have the best day possible folks

ShazzaKanazza Sun 04-Dec-22 09:36:07

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a bright wet Hull.

Grammaretto hope your MIL gets through covid ok💐

Welcome to our new posters 👋

It’s lovely reading all your news it gives me a warm glow when I imagine you with snuggly grandchildren and festive activities keeping you all busy.

We need to go and pick our car up from our friends where we had a lovely Christmas party last night. I fancy a look to home bargains. My friend gave me some nutcracker candles so I need a couple of candle holders I’m sure there will be lots of sparkle to attract me.

Tonight we will be watching the football. Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday with wonderful family gatherings and delicious Sunday lunches.
Thoughts to those who aren’t well or dealing with family worries and stress. 🌻🎄

Good morning all and yes it’s very chill here in Essex.

Yesterday I went to the anniversary service at the church where I lived before. It’s not far but I don’t go very often now. It was a very old wooden church that used to be a Nissan hut . My Dm was married there (2nd marriage) at the age of 75, the the church warden . My DGD was christened there and my dc all went to pram club, cubs, brownies there. 10 years ago it had to be demolished and fund raising started to build a super new scandi-type church. It’s beautiful and well used.

Afternoon tea followed and catching up with old friends.

Not much on today 🙏.
Reading and listening to The Witch Farm on Radio4.
Recommended by someone in Gransnet. Now who was that ? 🤔.
Happy day to you all.

Good morning from a gloomy, cloudy W Kent. DH and DS decanted the contents of the garage into the living room yesterday and I am now working out what can go to the recycling centre, the charity shop and if the family want anything (they won't), why did I need three, sixties coffee services. They are pretty but useless now. I have to finish off the cards today and hopefully post tomorrow.
Welcome to new posters and enjoy your lunch tomorrow Kim19
Best wishes to all

Good morning all from Glasgow. 3deg. and heavy frost. 🥶

A warm welcome, literally, to MrsTeaPot & Peli on such a cold day.

It’s very worrying news hearing about children dying of Strep a which thankfully, GD2 is fully recovered from the recent bout she had. Those poor families will be devastated.
DD1 and GD2 visiting at some point today but alas, not so DD1 who has a weekend job and snowed under studying for her prelims in January plus, ready to sit thé theory part of her driving test. I do hope she makes some time to have a bit of a social life too.
I have made a start with decorations which I unearthed yesterday. Firstly though, I must charge my stash of rechargeable batteries for my collection of outdoor fairy lights. One of the plusses for me at this time of year is the decorating bit, especially fairy lights covering a few shrubs lit up around outdoors.

Best wishes to all for a good day and hoping those with worries and illness can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Kim19 Sun 04-Dec-22 09:13:42

Really warm and interesting stuff here. You're a grand crew and I dip in regularly to warm my cockles. Just recently I had a visit on board one of HM carriers, Prince of Wales. The experience was a delight from start to finish and the crew were so kind. I'm ex WRNS and found the new radar technology fascinating. I'm continuing my former service experience by attending a veteran's Christmas lunch tomorrow which promises to be great fun. Life is good. Hope everyone has at least one recognisable highlight today. 👍

Baggs Sun 04-Dec-22 09:11:43

Morning, all, from a dry and chilly Argyll. ENE winds blowing in across the loch. I'm keeping the storm doors shut today. We don't use the front door for in and out much anyway but it's nice to let more light in when the wind's from the west.

Maw, re outside privies. If we ever have to contend with that again, I imagine commodes and gazunders will come back into fashion. I also have a camp wee bottle that expands. TMI? 😂

I am wearing three layers already, topped with a really thick Irish Aran. I want to finish some weed scraping off the SE terrace so will don a scarf, two hats, a coat and two pairs of gloves before I go out.

Tea here will be a bobotie-like concoction made from beluga lentils, leftover sausages, various veg scraps and, of course, a baked egg 'crust'.

Happy Sunday, all!

Good morning from a dark and grey Black Country.

Didn't wake until 8.20! I think these dark mornings are to blame. smile

Had a frustrating day yesterday. Mum had told me her left ankle was all red and swollen, after tripping up. She had made an appointment at Doctors for Monday. But looking at it I thought we should go to the minor injuries centre as it looked infected. After a 2 hour wait, she was finally seen by a Nurse. She now has antibiotics to take for a week. The nurse did say he called her earlier because of her age! Also, she takes far less medication than people he sees in their 30's and 40's!

Took her out to lunch after that, then a relaxing afternoon at home.

Welcome to pel and MrsTeapot it's lovely to hear from new posters and news from where you are in the country.

Good to see you today gymstagran flowers

No real plans today, just catching up on housework I should have done yesterday.

Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday
