Are women getting angrier?

Yes people do seem angrier. We have a lot to contend with, having lived through better times the country is regressing at a when at our age we need more healthcare, warmth and a stable economy. The strikers are actually harming us all, the country is already on its knees and as pensioners we have to manage our incomes, we can’t strike. It’s thermostat wars in our house, if my partner lived alone he wouldn’t have any heat on. Brrrrhh,,

I get quite angry when people say that the strikers are actually harming us all...

I've always been a fairly placid, easy-going person, but one thing makes me really angry, that's cruelty to animals, they've always been my soft spot. I would (I have) wade in with fists flying to protect an animal from ill treatment.

Over the past year I've had a rather short fuse, getting irritable, snapping at my DH for very little reason. But I now know my medication was the cause of my ill temper. As I gradually reduce the dosage calm is being restored to Happy House much to DH's relief!

Not sure if women are more angry these days but they are more aggressive and loud mouthed, young women especially. It's not an attractive trait.

I've been getting very angry about how our charity shop is being run. I'm a volunteer and not in a position to do anything about it. It's that frustration of feeling powerless. I'm generally very placid but my blood boils when I can't "right a wrong". DH thinks I'm like a dog with a bone when I come home from the shop. Keeps reminding me that I'm a volunteer and could walk away but I can't do that. Anger doesn't do anyone any favours but it might drive you on to do something positive.

People who blame the strikers for the state of the country make me angry. But then I reflect that they probably voted for the venal incompetent lot we have running the show and can't admit what a mess they've made of things. And any way I spent years as a teacher I'm very good at pretending to be cross whilst thinking how funny the story of a misdemeanour is going to be when it's retold in the staff room. So sometimes people probably think I'm angry when I'm no such thing.

Heaven forfend that a woman should fail to be attractive. Is this the reason why a woman who complains is often vilified by the court of public opinion and her complaints dismissed as, at best, groundless or at worst, lies. There are several well known examples of this currently in the media.
I don't think I am more angry, but I am less tolerant of lots of things that annoy me.

I don't do anger. It uses too much energy and gets you nowhere. Peaceful thoughts are better for you....

Pacifists maybe, I don't know too much about them.

But if someone broke into your house and smeared unspeakable things on the wall, wouldn't you be angry?

If someone invaded someone else's country and killed children, wouldn't you be angry?

If someone denied another person some service, just because of the colour of their skin, wouldn't you be angry?

What you do with that anger and how you manifest it can be different for different people, but if these things don't make you angry I'm really surprised.

I come from a former mining area and we have recently been watching footage of the pit social club, the strikes and the last day march before they closed the pit my Father in law worked at. It was a very different mood from what was reported in the press. Lots of fun and proud families. There was no violence in any of the footage we watched. It made me feel a bit sad that all the strikers from that time were painted as violent thugs when most of them were anything but.

Btw I don't think women are getting angrier. A lot of women especially poor women, have always had to be tough

Sorry no time to read all posts. I've noticed when a post is fun and trying to lighten the mood there are gransnetters who somehow manage to turn the post into something serious, or even political, instead of enjoying a lighter moment. I picture them as angry grans. Life is serious at the moment but please let us enjoy the fun in life.

I've noticed that there are posters who behave as though everything's a big joke and try to be funny when we are talking about a serious subject. I picture them as Pollyanna.

What makes me really angry is the increasing number of lies we are expected to accept as the truth.

I think everyone is angrier now, not just women! I don't know if it is Brexit or the Pandemic but everyone always seems very annoyed ALL THE TIME! I see silly confrontations on the bus or other public transport and I am sure people used to be more polite to each other. Also everything seems more frustrating now, strikes, traffic jams, people who talk loudly on their phones!

Funny enough I'm less angry than I might have been as a young woman. There's little that riles me.

I am alot more angry now than when I was young but it's circumstances that have made me that way. Anyway getting it off your chest is good for you.

I was just thinking the other day , I seem to be lacking patience these days . I'm much quicker to get irritated. I blame it on family pressure, Mum/Nan seems to have to do everything these days, I'm worn out.

I'm 62 and definitely am more grumpier than when I was younger. I do get angry about things at times especially when injustice is involved

I try not to get angry - but many things in life irritate me!

I don't think it's a new thing. My grannies, so family folklore has it, were both grumpy old bags.

One, was known to wind down the car window and unleash road rage on poor unsuspecting motorists. She's been dead for 46 years, so we're probably talking 50 years or more ago.

My other granny, a sweet looking little old lady, was very cutting with new-to-the-village neighbours who tried to tell her she should be burning smokeless fuel. Sent the bloke away with an infestation of fleas in his ears.

I'm not that grumpy in person unless I'm angry and then I really don't give a sh-t what I say, or to who, if they've annoyed me.

Im glad if young women speak out angrily about things that I was brought up to believe made me "unattractive" as a girl and woman. I was brought up to be angry about social injustice and got quite a bit of *hit from boys at my school for speaking up on those.
BUT - I also believed that to be angry in personal relationships with men were unattractive and "I wouldn't get a man that way". Glad that has changed or is changing.

I don't think women are getting angrier. I think everyone is getting angrier. I'm quite appalled by some of the comments I read on social media, especially by people who have obviously not stopped to consider properly what someone has said and just jump in with all guns blazing, lots of name calling and swearing. Some women are more assertive now, and more power to them. Some have just got louder.

More outspoken yes, at last! Hate it when you're accused of 'shouting' (this happens to men too) when you're merely being assertive and standing up for yourself.
