Good - -morning- - afternoon, Michael and all GNs. Enjoy your outing, Mick. Wyllow has given you our weather - it’s just started to snow over our side! At least it has meant a slight lift in temperatures. I’m very late to the party today. I slept in until 10 a.m. (a first for weeks) and then pottered about helping (within my limited capabilities) DD to sort out the spare bed for DS who is coming down today to take over from her. GS and his dad came yesterday evening to have dinner with his mum and I. He ate 2 helpings of dinner, a large individual trifle, a large piece of carrot cake and finished my trifle……. it was like watching The Tiger That Came to Tea!! Let’s hear it for large sprawling teenagers!
Have the best day you can folks, and all who are travelling, travel safe.

Good morning from West Sussex. No snow here but bright and frosty.

DD3 has had Covid, she thinks, but test showing negative apart from what she thought was a very faint line yesterday. Don’t know how they will manage DGDs over the weekend. The 3 year old is non-stop action.

I have to think of something to take for a ‘bring and share’ lunch. Needs to be something vegetarian - I forgot that when I was counting on contributing soup based on chicken stock.

Carols by candlelight later though no-one can read the words of the carols by candlelight so electric lights will have to be on too!

I am meeting up with former work colleagues on Monday morning but the hostess lives on top of a hill on the far side of town from where DDs live so I hope the snow will not reach the south coast. I was going to drive to DD3’s on Sunday night and stay over (we now live further along the coast) but worried now about catching whatever she has. But if I am mingling anyway it probably make no difference.

Thinking of you Marydoll and others with long and short term health conditions that make life a hard struggle.

Hope all who can, enjoy Christmas preparations and festivities (no I haven’t written any Christmas cards yet 😨)

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Good Morning all from frosty Harrogate. Have to admit I feel like death warmed up! Didn't go to last night's party, but sent DH, so he enjoyed himself. apparently all the neighbours were there! I just wasn't fit. I have started myself on a course of antibiotics, so hopefully will see an improvement in a day or two.
Your trip sounds lovely *Mick` - enjoy it!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning Mick and all from the northwest
I’m on a train to Manchester for a catch up/Xmas lunch with friend and pianist and his partner, I have their present (one of my paintings) but forgot to put the card in.
Felt like hibernating this morning but now looking forward to it.
Sounds a fun trip Mick and you will be looking forward to your own company grandMattie
Will read through later and thoughts to all with worries of any kind.

Ooh enjoy the ballet Grandmabatty that sounds fab! I noticed yesterday that “Swan Lake” is being performed at The Lowry till 2 March. I’m thinking of getting tickets for when we are home in February for L’il Miss, my daughter and myself. I shall probably cry at the end (as usual!).

OH and I went to see Swan Lake in Oxford when I was heavily pregnant with son number 1 - I wept all the way through!

Hello Gundy, nice to hear from the USA 🌹

EkwaNimitee Sat 10-Dec-22 10:03:14

Good Morning Mick and everyone from icy, rather foggy Carlisle.
I'm late and haven't read your posts yet as I nipped out early for some shopping. I nearly didn't go as outside conditions looked so poor and possibly old ladies would be advised to stay home! It wasn't so bad though and the layer of ice on the car windscreen was only thin.
I don't know how they survive working in Sainsbury's, it was cold enough in there to need thermal underwear. I'm glad to be back in my snug home about to brew some nice hot coffee and read your posts and the weekend papers.

So I'll bid you all the best possible day.

Grandmabatty Sat 10-Dec-22 09:54:50

Thank you Urms and Ash. I'm looking forward to seeing it. As I write, there are snow flakes gently falling but not enough to lie. Greetings to Gundy. I've been to Aldi and got enough to last a week, including chocolate for the Christmas tree for dgs1. Carols are playing on Alexa while I have a cuppa. Susan enjoy White Christmas.

Good morning from a frosty W Kent, low sun making it all look beautiful, thankfully I don't have to go anywhere today. I want to finish the parcel packing and make sure I really only need two small gifts, hope I'm right.
Oops I hope your journey home goes well and you feel better.
I like the sound of the ginger beef and egg fried rice Kittylester and I wish you luck.
Take care everyone specially on the ice.

Good morning all from Glasgow, again, freezing cold with hard frost. 🥶

One quick trip out to collect our scripts and straight home. That done, I can make a start on outdoor decorations and like you Peli, thé frustrating job of detangling first. I have hunted high and low for the Swedish candle bridges which I came across a few weeks ago, thinking, good, I will remember where they are! As if! 🤯 I will pace myself to do this over the weekend as DH isn’t up to it, this year.
Your DH is doing what you would do for him kitty. We call it team work until whichever one of us recovers. I am doing what your DH is doing and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Best wishes for a good and less stressful day for all.

Good morning from a very frosty Shropshire.

We are off to Liverpool today to see the matinee performance of White Christmas.

Wishing the best day possible for everyone🎄🎅🏼

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s dark, still and heavy cloud in this corner of Lancashire, currently 1°C. Enjoy your trip Mick, I hope the journey goes smoothly.

Yesterday’s hospital visit went well. There wasn’t any snow despite all the dire weather warnings. We arrived early and found a parking space near the entrance so not far to walk. Even though we were early we were seen straight away. Had lots of tests, nasty eye drops, more tests, more nasty eye drops, photos of eyes. I’m sure you all get the picture! All the staff were so kind and helpful. An appointment is being made with a retinal specialist and a couple of further tests arranged. The lovely doctor advised me of the possible options but no decision can be made until the retinal specialist has seen me and the results of the further tests.

I was so tired after all that and didn’t do much else afterwards. I’m currently in bed, drinking a big mug of tea, watching snow falling. It has snowed overnight, only a light scattering but it has frozen so will be slippy outside. I’m staying indoors today!

I’ll read all your news now. Stay safe and warm all.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 10-Dec-22 09:23:23

Good Morning to you Gundy it was lovely reading your post full of festive cheer.

Oops I really hoping you are feeling better for travelling home tomorrow. Our friends recently went to Slovenia on holiday with no insurance and he has a heart condition!

Grandmadinosaur pleased you are feeling a little better today. Hopefully we can see each other soon. X

My mum has already tackled the walk to the paper shop on the ice. She’s so independent😱

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 10-Dec-22 09:08:34

Good morning Mick enjoy your trip it sounds lovely.
As our flights didn’t match up with the Villa dates we are off to a Hotel up the road for tonight, flying home tomorrow. Unfortunately I had a dodgy meal last night so I’m not so chipper today, I’ve dosed myself up, so I should make it to the Hotel then I can crawl into bed. It’s only up the road so worst case is that MrOops drives on ahead and I can walk slowly along the beach, rather than risk being unwell in the hire car.
Never mind. It’s sunny and warm, the sea is calm and there are little ones paddling in the rock pools. I will miss it ! Fortunately I did most of the packing yesterday afternoon.
The family members made it home yesterday, travelled all night from Italy and were met by a good friend in France then Chunnel home, the sick lady is in a bit of a state, hopefully they can see a Doctor today, in Italy one surgeon said bed rest for 26 days and the other one wanted to operate straight away, she checked herself out and insisted that she was taken home, they refused to give her a letter to fly so it had to be laying flat in a Car.
she cried with relief when she got home as she thought she would die in hospital. The Moral of this story is Always Get Travel Insurance… even for 4 days abroad. Ex SIL now has to retrieve his car from an airport then drive back home.
Anyway.
Have a good day everyone. Hope those who are unwell get better soon. Stay safe.

Good morning, England!
From frosty and snow covered Wisconsin USA , I’m wishing everyone a safe and happy Holiday season! All the coming and going - anticipation is all the fun.

For me, starting today and through next Friday it is all about baking! cookies, fruitcake, roasted seasoned nuts.

In the midst of the madness I (daily) give thanks for the grace I live in and plan my sharing and support of others less fortunate than I. It’s all about giving… not getting.
Cheers!
USA Gundy

Good morning all from a balmy North Leicestershire where the temperature is now -1.

DH is off out shopping - we are rather behind with our present buying. I really hate being below par - it puts an awful lot on DH's shoulders.

I'm going to attempt to cook ginger beef and egg fried rice today so wish us luck - especially DH.

Greetings from snowy Liverpool where the park opposite DD’s house is white and the tobogganers are already out. Doesn’t augur well for our trip across the Pennines but DSiL is quite sanguine so we hope for the best. My own inclination is to stay home but that is not why I have come so onwards and upwards.
Stay safe and warm!

Grandmachrisy47 Sat 10-Dec-22 08:56:28

Good morning from a bright and frosty Co Durham. -2 outside and high of only 1 degree according to Alexa.

I’ve had a stressful couple of weeks. We took delivery of two new sofas 3 weeks ago from a well known company (after a 12 week wait). To say the least they are dreadful. Not at all like the showroom ones. I emailed the company on Wednesday they replied, by phone, yesterday asking for pictures of the faults. Not being so good at that it took a while 😀 I was then told to ring them back when I’d done that. The upshot is they are collecting them on Wednesday and giving a full refund!!!
Fortunately DD2 has a sofa in her garden room we can borrow or we’d be having Christmas sat on the floor.

I must write my Christmas cards today to get the local ones delivered by a local youth group.

Hugs to those in need, have a good day to those with plans hope all goes well.

Good morning all from cold, frosty East Yorkshire.

I have fond memories of childhood holidays at W-S-M Mick enjoy your weekend there.

I was disappointed not to be able to meet up with Shazza yesterday. I wasn’t feeling too good and went back to bed and stayed there until lunchtime. I felt so much better for doing that. In the afternoon we popped out for a few items to tide us over until my online shop arrives tonight.

Today we were going to go to the Christmas market at Normanby Hall but decided against it. Although I feel better DH isn’t feeling his best either. What a pair we are! So we will have a gentle day and keep warm as much as we can.

I’ll catch up with all the threads now.

Have a good day everyone.

Ashcombe Sat 10-Dec-22 08:50:25

Good morning, all, from a chilly Torbay.

A late start for us due to a poor night for DH, beset with various worries. Being confined indoors a lot doesn’t help when things are sitting on you.

How lovely to be seeing “The Snow Queen”, Grandmabatty! So beautifully appropriate for this cold snap!

Safe travels to Mick, cornergran, and others undertaking journeys. We plan to go over the park to our church coffee morning then back via the local bakery to pick up a couple of pasties for lunch. Then more cards to write…… 🙄

Stay safe and warm, everyone! 🦩🎄🦩🎅🏼🦩

Morning from very cold S Lanarkshire. I’m going to a nearby town to meet a friend for lunch and have decided on travelling by bus, icy country roads are a bit challenging for me now.

I hope you have a lovely overnight outing Mick, I always admire your ‘get up and go’!

Enjoy all the meetings and events today everyone and keep safe on the ice.🦩🦩🦩

Urmstongran Sat 10-Dec-22 08:45:44

Here’s Matt.

We have woken up to snow! It looks like a Christmas card scene out there. Good morning everyone from south Manchester.

We have no plans today after our busy day yesterday, when we finished the Christmas shopping and then I had an enjoyable night. Good. All that’s on the cards is the England game tonight. C’mon Ingerland!
