Good Morning Saturday 10th December 2022
(54 Posts)Morning Mick, morning All. Haven’t looked out but assume frosty.
In spite of my misgivings enjoyed the coffee get together yesterday. Frustrating afternoon as the booked call from the surgery pharmacist was two hours late. Worth it in the end as she offered a longer time between repeat prescriptions, two months rather than the current one.
Off along two motorways today for a pre Christmas get together with both sons and their families. Our elder son is hosting. I’m quite excited as we’re not often all in the same place at the same time.
Mr C suggested we go early and also visit an NT we’re both very fond of. Good idea, if we get moving early enough and those motorways are kind to us. It’s been an enjoyable if rushing about sort of a week, next week is much quieter.
Enjoy your weekend Mick, hope the hotel is comfortable and the marker not too busy
Thinking of all those with worries, hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning from a clear, frosty morning. The Beeb says it is -2C. Jolly cold. The sky was clear enough for the moon to look gorgeous, and the planet (Mars? Mercury?) to be very vis.
I went into our little town to make an appointment for a haircut and ended coming home with it shorter! DL went in the afternoon for a cut too.
More difficulties from vendor’s solicitor, but things are moving, I trust. I’m feeling exhausted from keeping DL upbeat. Only today and tomorrow, she’s leaving on Monday 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Today, DL is being taken to the church coffee morning/Christmas raffle. It’s her first “public” outing. I’ll join her later, after doing a spot of shopping.
I had a lovely chat with both my remaining children yesterday. They are good people, I’m very proud of how they have turned out.
So pleased that, despite all your difficulties, your heart drugs have finally been sourced and dispensed, Maydoll. Lots of drug problems at the moment. I don’t know if it’s worldwide.
I hope everyone has a warm weekend, both metaphorically and physically. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️
Morning Mick...have a lovely weekend break.
Good covering of snow here...in Bolton. ☃️☃️
Take care everyone...
Good morning everybody. A nice clear forecast here. Mick, your trip sounds lovely - I hope you really enjoy it!
& cornergran, yr day sounds like it will be great fun for you - hope the motorway traffic co-operates!
I managed to find 2 Christmas gifts 🎁whilst out shopping yesterday, so my list is finally looking shorter! Today the plan is to start to decorate outside - but 1st job is to untangle the lights.
I hope the day is the nicest possible for all of you!
We have a hard frost here in Manchester and a bit misty. I havnt been outside - not even into the garden - for three days. This morning I have to go and open the gate from my Tesco delivery. Dont look forward to that.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Snow here. It's minus 1°C .
I have to bake for the community café today. I wonder how many will turn up. It's warm in the hall so probably will be busy.
Hoping everyone has a good day.
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Extremely frosty out there this morning.
Ahh Mick we always got off at junction 10 when visiting my brother when he lived at Fewcott. Enjoy your trip to the West Country.
Back in the day and having a similar number we used to get a lot of phone calls enquiring about a nearby visitor attraction. Thanks to websites I had the first one yesterday in a long while. I wasn’t expecting a call while stood in my bedroom naked 😩
While out shopping yesterday I’m pretty sure I saw Kate Humble and in the same store saw Cadbury’s crème eggs!
Off to my health thing this morning and putting up my decorations this afternoon.
Have a good day all 🎄
Good morning from a very frosty Wiltshire, it’s -5° 🥶
On my way back from the hairdresser yesterday I popped into see a friend to drop off her birthday card only to find that she has Covid. We were together on Tuesday so 🤞🏻 no one else gets it.
Today I will write the Christmas cards, I can’t put it off any longer can I?!
Then I might deliver the local ones by hand whilst out on the DDog walk later.
Stay warm everyone.
Good morning everyone from a freezing south Hants- currently -6 🥶.
Yesterday I finally managed to write all the Christmas cards that needed to be posted👏 - just need to get them to the post box now without falling over!
We have 2 GDs over today and once they’ve gone we’ll be wrapping Christmas presents. Although I’ve just remembered that the carpet and underlay is due to be delivered today! They’ll have to stay in the hallway until we’ve emptied that bedroom!
Have a lovely and safe day everyone. Enjoy your time away Mick and anyone else on their travels.
Keep warm - I’ve been wearing thermals (the full works!) under my normal clothes. Makes such a difference especially when taking DDog for his walks.
Hugs and 💐 for you all x
Good morning from a cold and still dark Suffolk .
We ( myself and DDs1&2 are staying in a very nice cottage. The only thing I don’t like is that the downstairs windows have no curtains. I find it a bit disconcerting when it is dark as we are surrounded by fields.
This morning we are going to wrap up warm and have a stroll around. Southwold or Aldeburgh stopping for a hot chocolate.
This afternoon the girls have a particular walk that they want to do. I shall stay in the warm and order some Christmas presents and do some knitting.
Mick. enjoy your trip
Wishing all a good day and thinking of those with troubles of any kind.
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a very frosty Hull. I was like bambi on ice yesterday afternoon. My sons cul de sac road was sheer black ice.
Today we have the DC and GC coming over for a couple of hours. I’m sure DGD will show me her newly learnt moves from jujitsu this morning. GS was so lovely yesterday and his words really are becoming clearer. I’m sure his eighth year will see him properly talking🤞
Tonight we are cooking for our friends just doing a hot buffet. We did say we would be watching football but they still wanted to come even though they aren’t football fans. Come on England!🏴
Safe journey Mick and Cornergran and everyone on the move. Enjoy your time away.
Wishing everyone a lovely day. Hoping those weighed down with stress find some relief today. 🌻🎄
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -3, frosty and dry. No snow so far, thank goodness. I'm not a big fan. Mick enjoy your trip.
Yesterday I went to Stirling and got the specific jigsaw I was after for my brother. Then home again and pottered all day. I still haven't written a card.
Today I'm off to Edinburgh with a friend to see The Snow Queen by Scottish Ballet. It's a matinee so I'll be home by night. Have a good day all.
Good morning all 🥶. I remember when we had those hot hot days in the summer saying ‘I’ll never complain about being cold again’ . HA!
*ginny , you are nearby to our cottage by the sea. I expect it’s arctic there but still peaceful and lovely. We hope to go for a few days next week. Enjoy your break. 🌊. Both Southwold and Aldeburgh are lovely towns especially around Christmas.
Our outside Xmas lights have stopped working.dh and I have both fiddled but no luck. DS1 is coming round at 8 😳 to have a look. Annoying!
Christingle this afternoon with little DGD where they have a craft afternoon, Christmas songs, a little nativity story and then lights out for the Christingle. Before the new church was built it was always held in the little wooden church (hut). When my children were little, it was always crammed to the rafters with tiny tots holding their oranges with lit candles . 😳, with anxious parents hovering over them. Not allowed now, of course. It’s amazing how we all survived in the ‘old days’ isn’t it.! 😂.
I hope you all have a pleasant day. Keep safe and warm.
Good morning everyone from a very cold Inverness where we’ve snow and icy roads
Have a lovely trip away mick and enjoy
This morning I’m going to DD2s and I’ll walk DGD down to her dancing class. It’s in town so I’ll probably pop into M&S afterwards for a quick browse. Then home this afternoon as I need to do some more present wrapping.
Your cottage sounds lovely ginny a shame about the downstairs curtains, I’d feel the same as you. I’ve not been to Aldeburgh myself but DD1s in-laws live there so I hear lots about it
Well done with eventually getting the jigsaw crossed off your list grandmabatty
Take care everyone today if out and about on busy and slippy roads 💐
Morning Mick and all
Hope your short break goes well Mick the Victorian Christmas Market sounds lovely.
It’s lovely to spend time with our AC Corner have a brilliant day.
It’s very cold and frosty here in S E Essex, the sky is turning a clear bright blue it’s going to be a chilly one 🥶
A quick trip to local shops and that’s it for me today other than lost making and editing for online Xmas food delivery and last trip to Chelmsford for the remaining gifts next week.
Have a super Saturday folks 🎄🙋♀️🎁🤶
Good morning from a gloomy Sefton. It is very cold & managing to be wet- big puddles - & white out there at the same time. Sleet & rain are forecast. Lovely, can't wait 😰.
Migraine yesterday. The day passed in a medicated haze. No plans for today but will have to "put my big coat on" & venture out for a small food shop.
Take care out there.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I will be wrapping up presents today - I still have a few more to get! The cards are written so OH can post them. There are also lots of local ones which the Girl Guides used to deliver before the pandemic. OH can hand deliver those! It’s only fair as I do 99% of Christmas preparations. I must type up the WI notes today. No one is chasing me for them, but it will be nice to get my shorthand transcribed. OH will be watching both football matches today! It’s my turn to cook so I’ll think I’ll make chicken pie. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from Glasgow, where its -3°C. I could have told you how cold it was, without knowing, my joints are agony, so little sleep for me last night.
Corner, that was good you managed to sort your repeats. Mine are all two monthly, but they are impossible to sync, so I have to go every three weeks for them. It's such a pain!
In fact, you have reminded me to order them, so thank you!
Yesterday, I decided to brave Silverburn, for a few bits and pieces, since I haven't been out on my own shopping for weeks. I normally go into to work in the parish office on a Friday, but was feeling quite rebellious, since I had devoted a lot of time this week on parish admin.
Not the best of decisions. It doesn't open until 10am, but at 9.30am, it was very busy. There were even queues for the Tesco Smart shop checkouts, first time, I've seen that.
As I was going back to my car, I noticed a young man, coming out of a van in a wheelchair. He called me, saying I saw your car and knew it was you! ( My car is rather bright!)
It was one of my former pupils, who has a genetic condition and unable to walk.
I first realised something was wrong one day, when at 7 years old , I noticed he had a strange gait going upstairs.. Sadly his parents were in denial initially. Recently his mum told me, that he was their first child and they didn't want to believe something was wrong. 😒
Formally such an angry child, who was very difficult to teach, nor expected live to his teens, this young man is now twenty one and so charming. I was so delighted to meet him.
Later on, DH drove me to Dollie's school to drop off some things for the PP.
I timed it for home time, so we would see her, because I had bought her a musical snow globe.
The kindly school secretary spotted me struggling to walk and came to intercept me. A chat with the janitor and some other grans I knew, fairly lifted my spirits.
Dollie was delighted for all of about a minute, then disappeared with her friends, without a backward glance.
We were stuck at temporary traffic lights, when DIL and a hysterical Dollie banged the car window. She was distraught that she had forgotten to say good bye to her gran and papa.
I have never seen such sobbing! 😭
Later we received a text from DS' phone, from her, saying how sad she was. 😪
Today we are off to Dollie's ballet show in a village down in the depths of Ayrshire. Brrrrrr!
We are meeting DD and SIL half way and taking one car, because parking is so difficult.
I'm looking forward to seeing the most beautiful snowflake in the world!
How things have progressed. We have QR codes, instead of tickets!
I wish you all the best of day, so many outings to look forward too, I'm quite envious. Enjoy your trip, Mick. 🦃🎅
Good morning all from a very frosty Black country.
Mick hope you have a lovely time I do love the Victorian markets Mary so good to hear your tablets were finally sorted so worrying for you stress you do not need.
grandMattie light at the end of the tunnel is near🤞.
Well usual full English is calling so will catch up with everybody's news later.
Safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed, take care all and enjoy your Saturday and may you all find some 🌞.
Good morning everyone from another very frosty clear morning in Northampton. A beautiful full moon is shining in through the front window and it is -3° again. Luckily I have no plans to go out today so will stay in the warm.
Shall not be watching the football tonight, though, as my rugby team is playing in a European Cup match in La Rochelle, and it is live on tv. La Rochelle are the current European champions so it will be a tough match.
I had a good shopping trip out yesterday; it wasn't as cold out as it actually looked. I gave my trusty trolley an outing and redeemed all my Sainsbury's Nectar points which I had been saving up all year for Christmas. I also got my free bottle of plum gin from M&S Food! They had none in last week when I tried to claim it. Also came home with two pairs of sparkly jeans from Sainsbury's to try and see which style suits me better.
Have a lovely time in WSM Mick; one of my DSis lives there.
And hoping a good Saturday is had by all.
P.S, Its now -4°C! I shall fish out my faux fur coat! 🥶
good Morning from dull but dusting of snow S.Yorks.
Mick, enjoy!
Not long now, GM
Yesterday I had a rest in bed nearly all day, just did a couple of things like booking the car in for a service. How easy it is these days as they collect your car and drop off and send it back spiffing and valited, (once I've cleared the grunge out of the car).
Today I have BP and bloods at GP group centre earlyish so must allow time for defrosting the car. The centre is near the gym so I will go there afterwards.
Bests for family and other days out, and take care poorlies.
Good morning from a frosty S Hants, -4. Enjoy your trip Mick and any others travelling, safe journeys.
My son and partner are coming later and staying the night, they live locally, but actually having time with them is rare. Football here today too and Tesco curries for dinner, MrJ will nip out and get my paper soon.
Enjoy your day if you can 🦩🦩
smug alert, my paper comes through the door...
