Fish Pie Question 🥧

It’s a difficult one isn’t it Fanny ?
I know I am definitely in the ‘if in doubt, chuck it out’ way of thinking, but then maybe I’m too fussy, and perhaps I have thrown food away which would have been perfectly fine if reheated correctly.

Food poisoning is particularly nasty though isn’t it, and the pie won’t be wasted if your dog will eat it !

Right, I’m totally torn, which is why I posted this in the first place - I think that Gracie eating the fish will be the best compromise.
I can’t risk things with MrC.
And Gracie is such a good girl, she deserves it

What would concern me would be the fact that the pie stayed in your oven, just very gradually cooling down when you turned the oven off.
You say your kitchen was as cold as a fridge last night, but I do wonder about that.
I have got a little weather station in my kitchen which displays the temperature both inside and outside, including the minimum/maximum.
I got up this morning soon after the heating came on and the device showed that my kitchen hadn’t dropped below 14 deg overnight. No heating on.

Now fridges I believe run at about 3 degrees, so unless your kitchen really does get exceptionally cold at night, I think it wouldn’t have been cold enough to be sure the pie is safe to eat.

I wouldn’t risk it, but maybe I’m too fussy as others seem to think it would be ok.

Did you cook it from raw the first time?

If it was already cooked and you were heating it up, it would mean you were reheating twice, I wouldn't reheat twice, after eating it would play on my mind for 24hrs waiting for adverse reactions.

I don’t have a meat thermometer no.
I’ll try it and see how it goes.
The dog absolutely loves fish, so it won’t go to waste!

I wouldn’t waste it. I’d do as others have suggested and reheat it, overheat if necessary.

I would certainly reheat it, wouldn't think once, leet alone twice. No risk at all. reheat it in a microwave and if the top should be crisp, then pop it under the grill.

Have you got a meat thermometer to test it?
If you heat it sufficiently will it dry out?

I probably wouldn't risk it but my immune system is iffy.

I would heat it up again in the oven, covered with foil. Make sure it is piping hot!

I'd risk it.

If it’s really cold I wouldn’t worry about it but reheat it very well just in case. Only one day mind, after that it goes to the pussy cats!
