Why do hairs disappear from your arms, your eyebrows, but appear on your upper lip and chin as you get older?

That's what I would like to know! I spend a lot of time every morning plucking hairs from my chin and upper lip, and then filling in the gaps in my eyebrows. If I could transplant the vigorous top lip growth to my eyebrows I would be sorted.

Tweezers here, too. I find new facial hairs virtually every day. It seems that the underarm and leg hairs that plagued us when we were younger have vanished only to be replaced by an even worse nightmare. I live in dread of becoming the bearded, bewhiskered old lady.

If tweezers are a no-go for you, my go-to is a resounding, most definitely not!

I use a lighter, the way they do in middle eastern countries. Low flame, move it quickly. It sizzles away the hair but the flame moves so quickly it doesn't burn.

I wax my top lip because those buggers are tenacious, but the rest of my face, sizzle sizzle.

I have an epilator and it works fine on that peach fuzz that we get and the individual longer hairs that sprout on the chin. It does make my eyes water though as it’s like having hundreds of tweezers pulling at the same time. No problems with it getting stuck to my face. Mine also has a shaver attachment which I use if I can’t face using the epilator. Never has a problem with stubble but my hair is very fine and blonde. Wouldn’t be without it.

I got a pair os tweezers from Lidl which have a small light between the arms. This lights up the area of "operation" As with a lot of Lidl products they are not often available

I come from a hairy family. Started electrolosis in late teens and carried on ( expensively) for years.
Now I use tweezers and a magnifying mirror.
Have shaved my top lip since I was 14. It's still ok. Always use a good feminine razor.

scissor tweezers are the best, I find ordinary ones too difficult to use these days but eBay has a great selection for around £5, I just pull them out and eventually they get the message and die off. New ones always pop up though. They're cheap, convenient and really effective too.

I can't seem to get a grip with tweezers these days.

I end up making a sore patch around the hair!

I fnd that tweezers get blunt after a while. Replace the, but don't to cheap a pair. They should meet properly at the point where they touch.

The reason given after electrolysis that apparently "hairs come back" is a myth: the problem is that new ones grow for some as we get older. Another course of electrolysis every so often does the job with stronger or darker hairs.

A great auntie used a pumice stone to remove her facial hair. She always had a smooth face. I never saw her in action so I don’t know if there was a special knack to it.

My head hair is brown but my chin hair is white

I don't know why the two hairs that grow on my mustachio are thick, white and curly when the hair on my head is not!

Why are the hairs on my head grey but black on my neck and chin?

My mail lady redirects me once a month and if there is a stray mid month it's a freezer job...sometimes have to ask for help from DH or DD 2.

Have mine waxed by a beauty therapist. Have done for years. In between times I use tweezers , with difficulty!

Post chemo my facial hair is weird.. eyebrows great, chin hair sometimes clear in the right side sometimes in the left, lots of “down” on cheeks.

Also hardly any leg hair !!

I lost all body hair, bar eye lashes and eyebrows with chemo. No leg, pubic or head hair. While I didn't enjoy being bald, I loved the overall lack of body hair! And even being bald had an upside. No need for styling!

For the stronger/dark hairs, electrolysis is OK for me, just a bit sore for a day". In between electrolysis, clip down to skin with small scissors. good magnifying mirror and good lighting.

For the fuzz, uneven fine pair scissors - not too often, doesn't get stubbly. Well not yet.......

I believe you can laser fuzz? Haven't look into it, nor the cost.

Don’t worry about stubble and not being able to doit yourself. I’ve been doing it for many years now and I have no problems although I do tell nearest and dearest if I’m incapacitated that is the one thing that must be done for me whilst I’m in trouble and out of short term action 😮

I have a little gadget called Tweezerman Smooth Finish Hair Remover. Difficult to explain but it has a spiral spring on rotating handles which is effective at removing chin and upper lip hair. You use it manually by twisting the handles. There is a knack to it, but I found it very good once I got the hang of it. At John Lewis it also comes with a mini pair of Tweezers. Currently £23 (I'm not on commission!). I'm sure must be available elsewhere.

I've spent the whole time reading this and exploring my many chin hairs.

It's not pretty.

I always forget I have moustachio hairs until I am looking in the mirror and the sun shines , highlighting one of my white curly ones! When this happens we are usually on our way somewhere in the car and I rarely have a pair of tweezers! I am fairly relaxed about these things.

A few years back my MiL gave me a mini mirror with pair of tweezers and I was amused, until I realised why haha. Unfortunately I have misplaced them...

Yes, perhaps your hairs aren't mature enough to go all grey and wiry and stubborn, violet.

They can grow overnight, or on an evening out...

Are you saying that I'm not very mature because my head hair won't go grey MissA?
