Please, has anyone found the gadget for this?
It's getting more and more difficult to keep myself as sleek and slinky and smooth as I'd like.

I know the subject has been discussed before, but I'm hoping something has been invented that does the job.

Any recommendations appreciated.

I'm with you, Miss A: my tweezers are very busy these days...

Mamissimo Tue 13-Dec-22 13:49:34

I use one of these and gradually the pesky hairs stop growing back. I gave one each to my daughters when they turned 40......thought they'd appreciate my foresight. 😁

Have you had yours long?
It's longevity doesnt come out well in reviews.

Yes - I’ve got one of those - they’re handy .

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 15:11:32

Thank you.
I just had a browse around that site and saw a nifty looking little thing - £112!!! shock

henetha Tue 13-Dec-22 17:13:59

My tweezers were about £3.99 a few years ago.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 17:17:05

I can't seem to get a grip with tweezers these days.

I end up making a sore patch around the hair!

silverlining48 Tue 13-Dec-22 17:37:47

Small pair of sharp scissors, magnified mirror, snip snip once a week, I know it’s not recommended but I have done this for years. Tried the rest, this is the best of the worst, the least painful and cheapest option. Just a bit scratchy if someone strokes your face. Thank goodness that doesn’t happen these days.

Patsy70 Tue 13-Dec-22 18:39:18

Scissors! No, please don’t MissAdventure. I had an ‘aunt’ who was a friend of my real great aunt, and I have awful memories of ‘her scratchy’ face, which was most unpleasant! If you are having trouble with the tweezers, ask someone to do it for you, or use another effective method. 😊

Bridie22 Tue 13-Dec-22 18:43:17

Tweezerman tweezers are sharp and grip well.

Shantygirly Tue 13-Dec-22 18:46:43

A good pair of tweezers and a little 10 x magnification mirror, mine has little suckers to stick where the light is best, and I use it every morning, I dare not wait a whole week!

ExDancer Tue 13-Dec-22 18:47:46

I worry that these 'machines' are in effect 'shaving' your face and might lead to masculine-type stubble? I don't want to end up with thee aforementioned scratchy face and needing to shave every day!

Hetty58 Tue 13-Dec-22 19:00:54

MissAdventure -Warning Please be aware!!! Epilators should be used on taught skin. Me? I forgot. Mine got firmly stuck on my face, having picked up some fragile skin on my cheek. What a panic (due to go out)! I did manage, eventually, to pull the skin back - but it looked a real mess for a time.

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Dec-22 19:07:56

I used an epilator on my legs once and that was enough agony for me.
I had electrolysis on my face once but it irritated my skin.

I do use tweezers but worry if I become incapacitated that I might become the bearded lady.
DIL promised to sort me out 😀

Tweezers and a magnifying glass used frequently.

GagaJo Tue 13-Dec-22 19:09:20

If tweezers are a no-go for you, my go-to is a resounding, most definitely not!

I use a lighter, the way they do in middle eastern countries. Low flame, move it quickly. It sizzles away the hair but the flame moves so quickly it doesn't burn.

I wax my top lip because those buggers are tenacious, but the rest of my face, sizzle sizzle.

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Dec-22 19:10:31

OMGoodness! Gagajo 😲
You're braver than me.

GagaJo Tue 13-Dec-22 19:11:20

DD told me about it. It's great. Gets rid of the peach fuzz and everything other than full-on whiskers.

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Dec-22 19:14:49

Oh, I've got more whiskers than fuzz, I think. They're white although my hair isn't.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 19:16:51

Hmmmm...
I've watched the Turkish barbers here work their magic with what looks like a flame thrower.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 19:20:36

Exactly.
A lot of the handy little lipstick sized hair things are just mini shavers.

I want to pull the buggers out by the root.

MrsJamJam Tue 13-Dec-22 19:31:30

Look out for tweezers that look like a pair of scissors. I think I got mine in Boots quite a few years ago and they are much easier to manipulate than standard tweezers

Hetty58 Tue 13-Dec-22 19:31:39

I have just the one thick hair (near my chin) and loads of 'peach fuzz' - but now, I just use tweezers on the problem one - and I'm learning to live with the fuzz.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 19:44:54

I'm not too bothered about fuzziness, but the wiry ones are coming thick and fast.

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Dec-22 19:46:16

I blame my hormones (or lack of them)
