Please, has anyone found the gadget for this?
It's getting more and more difficult to keep myself as sleek and slinky and smooth as I'd like.

I know the subject has been discussed before, but I'm hoping something has been invented that does the job.

Any recommendations appreciated.

I do pluck the odd thicker one

My eyebrows are turning grey and thicker and seem to never stop growing now though

OnwardandUpward Tue 13-Dec-22 20:46:39

I have one or two white and wiry persistent moustache hairs. I pluck them out, then forget about them. but they seem to grow back and surprise me.

Tweezers will do, unless my one or two hairs mutliply!

Abitbarmy,
Those lip ones smart a bit, don't they?

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:41:29

Yes, perhaps your hairs aren't mature enough to go all grey and wiry and stubborn, violet.

They can grow overnight, or on an evening out...

Abitbarmy Tue 13-Dec-22 20:40:35

Yes I have one of those threading devices MissAdventure, it works quite well on the upper lip and chin area, not so good around the eyebrows. There’s definitely a knack to using them. Cheap as chips though.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:35:52

Bah! Coarse.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:35:23

I bought a threading 'implement' that someone here recommended, and it does tug even the course hairs out, but I'm not very good at it.

VioletSky Tue 13-Dec-22 20:34:24

I don't have stubble, well not visibly but maybe my hair is quite fine?

Blondiescot Tue 13-Dec-22 20:32:44

Threading works best for me. When the salons were closed during lockdown, I invested in one of those light-up magnifying mirrors and got busy with the tweezers - god, but those mirrors show up every little imperfection (and my face has many!) Not for the faint-hearted!

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:32:37

I think so.
I do shave, but I'm worried about when I can't, because my chin feels like a coconut mat.

dogsmother Tue 13-Dec-22 20:29:02

Very happy with a daily shave. I see the beauty salons advertise something they call …..Derma Planing……surely that’s what I’m doing?

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:28:58

Ah, sneaky.
The veet and all of the others in the top sellers are shavers, albeit called 'hair removers' and made like little trinkets.
They get good reviews, but I really wanted not to feel stubble.

VioletSky Tue 13-Dec-22 20:22:41

I am on my second one as its so easy to use and no shaving rash being delicate clippers

silverlining48 Tue 13-Dec-22 20:21:27

I had quite a lot of electrosis years ago, they said it was permanent but it wasn’t and I have a lot more now than I had then.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:14:49

Ooh! I'm off to have a look at the very styler.
Thank you!

GagaJo Tue 13-Dec-22 20:14:09

Don't start with too big a strip. Cut to size. Just make sure it's nicely warmed up. And also that you've got the cleaning wipes that come with the strips to wipe off the excess wax. It's super sticky.

VioletSky Tue 13-Dec-22 20:13:12

I use a "Veet beauty styler"

It's about £15 on Amazon

It does bikini line
Nose hair
Facial hair

Works very well, do recommend

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:12:33

Wax!

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 20:12:09

I've never tried wax.
My grandsons do their eyebrows with was strips, though.

I may dig out a strip or ten. smile

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Dec-22 20:10:57

Ouch!

Yes, DD and DIL both recommend that and have offered to do it for me.

MissAdventure DD dyed my eyebrows and it helped.

GagaJo Tue 13-Dec-22 20:08:33

What about waxing Miss A? I can't wax my chin, because it gives me a rash.

But if you can tolerate it, it works really well. Just make sure you pull the skin tight with one hand, and rip the wax off with the other.

I have at least 40 wiry ones, on cheeks, upper lip, up the side of my face towards the ears and now down the neck. It follows the shape of a full beard. I have fuzz too, which I hardly notice given the mass of wiry ones. My doctor once gave me some special cream but when I asked again later she told me she wasn’t able to prescribe it anymore.
I comfort myself that most people I mix with don’t stroke my face and their eyesight is even worse than mine.

LRavenscroft Tue 13-Dec-22 20:02:15

Is there a salon that does electrolysis near you? I go about twice a year and the hairs really don't grow back. The therapist is brilliant and uses a magnifying mirror. Expensive but permanent.

MissAdventure Tue 13-Dec-22 19:51:59

I'm a bit cross really.
I've never grown a proper pair of eyebrows; blonde and thin and straggly, they are.

I could give zz top a run for their money in the beard stakes though.

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Dec-22 19:46:16

I blame my hormones (or lack of them)
