..in sods law...my H has an appointment at the memory clinic tomorrow, weve waited quite a few months for it...on Tues he was shivering and coughing...yesterday was really poorly, today hes seeing the doctor..suspected pneumonia....I've been so desperate for a diagnosis for him....

Best of luck Farview x

Farview, I can only imagine how you're feeling this morning. I hope you have lots of support from family and friends. Sending kind wishes from afar. xx

Setting off shortly to the memory clinic and am a bag of nerves....

farview Thu 15-Dec-22 18:45:43

To watch someone's short term memory fade...personality change...is just unbelievably sad...A very clever man who has worked all over the world in the oil industry ...who can still, albeit takes longer..do sudoku...read the paper, watches and comments on the news...remembers the past...but cannot now remember something from minutes ago, sense of humour altered,..cant follow instructions....its very hard to watch and to live with in all honesty, constant repetitiveness is tiring...I've never really encountered this before...no memory problems in my family...Hs mother (estranged) had dementia....I'm now seeing the true cruelty of this disease...

Im very sorry to read this farview, so worrying for you. flowers

Yes he had full range of blood tests after failing an NHS memory test done by our GP....hence his referral to the memory clinic...sorry hollysteers that you have been through this also...

Hetty58 Thu 15-Dec-22 17:50:08

Farview, has he had a blood test recently? I'm asking, just in case, because my friend's mother was seriously low in Folic Acid - and it made her memory symptoms much worse.

Wheniwasyourage Thu 15-Dec-22 17:49:29

Best wishes, farview. Hope you get on well tomorrow. flowers

Oldnproud Thu 15-Dec-22 17:43:07

When an H is in denial, there is a lot if pressure on you both.

Relieved for you, hope tomorrow’s appointment is productive.

Jaxjacky Thu 15-Dec-22 15:21:52

Phew in one respect farview but I can understand the frustration in respect of the memory assessment, I hope it goes as well as it can.

farview Thu 15-Dec-22 15:12:17

Just back from the doctors...she thinks it's a virus...has given us a prescription for in case it gets worse over weekend...and she said its okay for us to attend the two hour appointment at the memory clinic tomorrow...he keeps saying hes not going because theres nothing wrong with him...but there is and I'm finding it very wearing...we were in Dubai at our daughter and family Nov3rd until November 24th and within 2 days of being home..hes no recollection of having been there...that's just an example...

nanaK54 Thu 15-Dec-22 15:06:12

That is so difficult, sending kind thoughts flowers

Kalu Thu 15-Dec-22 15:05:25

I hope your DH recovers soon and is assessed ASAP. If he requires hospitalisation, hopefully a member from the memory clinic can do the assessment during his stay.
Such a worrying time for you both. Best wishes.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 15-Dec-22 15:01:43

That must be so frustrating for you both. Maybe they will pick something up as regards to the memory loss and treat it as urgent? I hope he will feel better soon 💐

Smileless2012 Thu 15-Dec-22 14:56:14

How frustrating for you both farview. I hope your DH feels better soon and you don't have to wait too long for another appointment at the memory clinic.

HeavenLeigh Thu 15-Dec-22 14:53:22

That’s so frustrating hopefully will get sorted soon

Grannybags Thu 15-Dec-22 14:49:00

That's so annoying isn't it!

Hoping all goes well for both you and your DH flowers

HousePlantQueen Thu 15-Dec-22 12:06:49

Wishing your DH a good recovery. It's so frustrating isn't it!

Susan56 Thu 15-Dec-22 12:03:18

I’m so sorry to hear this fair view.Wishing your husband a speedy recovery and hope he can have the memory assessment very soon.
💐for you.

FannyCornforth Thu 15-Dec-22 11:45:29

Oh no, you must be so worried thanks

Redhead56 Thu 15-Dec-22 10:12:30

You are bound to be concerned about your DH he will be in safe hands. He will most likely be treated for pneumonia first. Then the memory assessment and any treatment required it will hopefully put your mind at rest.
