I wore gold brocade loons (remember them?) and a long black polo-neck with a wide leather belt resting on the hips in a very cool way, all bought in Carnaby Street.
Oh yes, we were so cool.
Took so many chances, we were lucky to survive.
When visiting my friends home town we would drink rough cider because it was so cheap, not a good drink to get drunk on, I was once horrendously ill on rum and black, and till this day, the smell makes me feel sick.
Cherrytree, purple, and that gorgeous dark wine colour sums up my party years, still love those colours, still wear purple, and still have purple decor.
The Place in Hanley was the place to be š

Oh our generation has been the coolest. Absolutely no contest.

I always wore a bra!
But I did take my high heels off when I got off the bus to walk down the road because my mother said the neighbours had said they heard me come home late š²

We certainly had the best music, the best parties, the best rag balls and that was before drugs arrived on the scene.
I never managed the Cathy McGowan hair, though, mine always did its own thing. Blow drying hadn't been invented although some people got their Dads or Mums to iron their hair.
Oh yes OxfordGran and Urmstongran The Twisted Wheel and Jungfrau In Manchester. I used to go in the early 60's.
Babysham and CherryB.
False eyelashes and black eyeliner.
Short skirts and high heels.
The best music ever.
Definitely cool. So many memories
Oxfordgran the only time I went to Bredbury Hall was to pick up my teenagers in the early/mid 80ās.
I lived on Finchley Road in Fallowfield in 1967 before it became student land.
Happy days.
Yes, we were cool. DH and I went to one of the first festivals with a tie dyed tent, he was D Bf then. I had crushed velvet flares, (as has just been mentioned) and a vintage rugby shirt, which I think is still in the loft. I lived in 'the sticks' with no late transport so some risks were taken to get back from dances and parties. One night a gang of us slept in a cemetery. My parents thought I was staying at my friend Sue's and her parents thought she was at mine.
I'm glad there wasn't Facebook back then so no record of what I got up to!
I worked in Kings Road and often went straight to work from all night parties. Oh to have that stamina now!
Gales barley wine, Carlesburg special brew, corner shop draught Sherry (bring your own bottle).
Crushed velvet loons, sandals laced up your leg, spitting in block mascara to make it last longer!
Hitchhiking, goodness me, what did we get up to.
There were drugs, heroin being the worst, LSD and cannabis, I was too scared.
Edgar Broughton, Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd.
Lord knows what my children would think.
And going to see Elton John singing āDonāt Go Breaking my Heartā with Kiki Dee at the Talk of the North, introduced by the DJ Dave Lee Travis. aka The Hairy Monster.
Iām shutting up now to let other cool dudes have their turn!
š¤£
Black Oxford bags with turn ups and a side button waistband for a size 18ā waist. Bought from French Connection in St Anneās Square.
Goodness, such memories now.
In my head Iām back there.
Barley Wine. I remember it well. Sends chiverās up my arms just thinking about it. I remember Biba doing a black nail varnish.
Ha! Just remembered that nail polish brand!
It was Woltz Italiana.
All night!
70s teenager hot pants, flairs and white boots.
Purple for me, was the colour of the decade.
Purple bedroom š
My parents went on holiday, I painted the bathroom Purple!
Still my favourite colour, still have Purple in my bedroom although not in the walls.
Often brought the milk in after a night out.
A pub lock in or a friends 'empty' ( parents away) alright party.

Definitely no contest!!
Yes, perhaps we did OxfordGran! I lived in Stretford with my parents and sister.
Got married in 1974.
Had a mortgage (Boy I was only a baby then, just 20y!) so put away my dancing shoes.
I did love those carefree times when the getting ready and the excitement of the evening ahead held such possibility!
The black nail polish was 1970. I think I was the first ever to wear it āup Northā.
Iād seen it in a national magazine and āsent off for itā with a postal order.
The name of it escapes me but my brain is bubbling, trying to recall it. It may come to me. Wisps are swirling ...

I loved Bredbury Hall OxfordGran!
I was skinny. I loved my long legs in hot pants. I was confident with my false eyelashes and black nail polish on my naturally long nails.
Biba perfume in itās iconic yellow atomiser or EstĆ©e Lauder āYouth Dewā.
I could dance (and not just round a handbag!).
Pretended I liked listening to John Peelās nonsense on Radio 1 of a Sunday evening.p, when really I preferred Northern Soul at Mr Smithās or the Twisted Wheel in Manchester City centre.
Then the late night bus home from Piccadilly Gardens (relief when it turned up as by that time of night, things were getting a bit dodgy with some characters).
Happy Days.
Wow! we may have met at o e of the bars! this would be early 70ās
gosh
I met my husband there
unfortunately
I do nt remember black. nail polish but steak sandwiches upstairs,
hot pants! yes! thought I was the bees knees !
I lived in Fallowfield, near the Toastrack, remember the record exchange place, what was it called, happy wonderful days, worked hard, studied hard, played hard, so cool ha ha

I never drank cider after getting very drunk on scrumpy when I was 17! And after 19 I never drank Barley Wine. I can still feel the painā¦
Gold label barley wine, at one time was in the Guinness book of records of the strongest drink, well beer.. I got a well slaughtered many times on that, there was another brand called stingo but it did not have the same kick. I also used to drink Cherry B and pony mix togetherā¦.š¤¢..
