For me it is a single electric blanket which I have put on my armchair which keeps me nice and warm. Only 5 p and hour to run and saves putting the gas fire on and have put the central heating down too! I also have a fluffy heated top throw from Lakeland. I do feel the cold so, my other half says the house is much too hot!

A heated throw when I'm watching TV. No need for central heating.

A fleecy Oodie - been warm and snuggly watching TV in the evening

A woollen mattress protector, online from the Woolroom. It is so soft and keeps me warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. It is washable, and I am sleeping better too. Because I liked it so much, I bought woollen pillows too, and I prefer them to any other kind of pillow filling.

I have this for wearing in bed but had to cut off the hood as it's too close around my neck. Also the amount of fluff that comes off until first few washes is loads..But it is sooo warm in bed.

An electrically heated throw which I sit under on my easy chair. Even if I don't switch it on all the time the extra layer seems warm and comfortable. Its only drawback - I don't want to get out from under to do whatever's necessary.

steamer for veg, all cook together so quicker and therefor saves on gas

An electric blanket

Wireless bra tops. My friend recommended them. They look like a crop top with cups. So comfortable and so much easier to put on and take off compared to a bra.

Gransey - how lovely! I adore dogs; mine’s approaching 12. What breed is your puppy?

madeleine45 Mon 19-Dec-22 12:26:00

a warm throw bought in a sale too, so have that tucked round me most evenings and helps to keep warm on bad nights. Am also considering which airfryer to buy as live alone and think that will be my thing to save for in the new year. At the moment still cant beat my old pressure cooker for making beef shin casserole. Cooks quicker and is safe and makes lovely gravy, some of which I freeze to add to mince etc later .

Oodie.
Rice cooker (for the microwave).
Slow cooker.
Fleecy throw from Dunelm.
Draught excluders.

Pie maker. No preheating the oven and it cooks pastry quicker too

Ninja 15 in 1 .. literally cooks everything. Steam , air fry, bake, pressure cook, roast, sauté, so much more, wasn’t sure as expensive but have used it everyday.

A puppy! 🐶 Not just for Christmas! We have never had one before always rescues, our last beautifully natured dog was given to us at 10 months old. The family couldn’t cope, they weren’t at home much. We loved her for 10 years. As a tribute to how wonderful she was we decided to go to the breeder that she originated from. Properly Kennel Club registered etc. We now have a delightful, sweet girl who is 18 weeks old and snuggled up to me keeping me warm, we are completely in love and look forward to many joyous years with her. The grandchildren are already besotted too.

What a brilliant thread. Lots to ponder on

Philippa111 Mon 19-Dec-22 11:56:09

Heated blanket throw... bliss and now mostly on my bed just under the duvet, felt slippers- bigger so I can wear wooly socks as well, M&S Huge fleece garment. Nothing nice for wearing, just things for keeping warm!!
I already have several hot water bottles... life essential as far as I'm concerned. And lots of thermal underwear from M&S.

Misschateline that’s best thing I’ve read on here how wonderful I intend do more travelling next year.

HeavenLeigh Mon 19-Dec-22 11:48:31

Oodie x2 and corsori air fryer

SusieB50 Mon 19-Dec-22 11:42:46

Some cotton roll necks base layer tops .(£9 off for 3) I have lived in them these last few weeks under my jumpers. I tuck them into my trousers so no gaps - brilliant. Still thinking about an air fryer but I’ve read there needs to be 16cms clear at the top. I have cupboards over all the work tops so not sure where I could put it .

Anotherbee Mon 19-Dec-22 11:34:15

I’m with the air fryer buyers, only a small one but there’s only the two of us so ideal. Managed a bargain buyer - m.r.p. Was £99.99 I paid £36. Nice to see a beautiful clean oven that I don’t need to use anymore.

MrsBoot Mon 19-Dec-22 11:24:10

A Lakeland heated throw, (so cosy but can't keep the cat off it when using). Also a halogen oven, working on the same principle as an air fryer but generally much cheaper to buy and more spacious.

Witzend Mon 19-Dec-22 11:22:58

A new pair (my 3rd) of M&S high rise cosy jeggings.
Lived in the 2 other pairs last winter, still going strong, but fancied some in a different colour.

One of the few such things I’ve bought that are genuinely high rise - I never have to hitch them up.,

I bought the (quite expensive i know) husky electric heated throw i saw advertised/recommended on these pages- it was £110 in argos (about same everywhere) so i put it on buy now pay later on my argos account.Worth every penny though- its been a Godsend whilst weve had snow here and means i can keep warm on the sofa throughout the day (ive very poor circulation) & later can just have heating on in shorter bursts.I only have that to pay in 6 months though so ill just pay £10 off it every fortnight and it will be paid probably by then. Its been my one extravagence.

i bought a throw from a website, it was very cheap and i thought it was going to be small, it arrived and was big enough to cover a double bed, it was so soft, i have a very dear friend who is ill because of the cold and has to be careful with putting on the heating, she came to check on me and see if i needed anything and i gave her the christmas card and the throw, not as i gift but she was so happy, she texted later to say she was all wrapped up with the throw and nice and cosy, i ordered another for myself but it was so nice to see her face over a simple gift.
