For me it is a single electric blanket which I have put on my armchair which keeps me nice and warm. Only 5 p and hour to run and saves putting the gas fire on and have put the central heating down too! I also have a fluffy heated top throw from Lakeland. I do feel the cold so, my other half says the house is much too hot!

A Ninja air fryer. We haven't used the oven for two months and rarely the hob.

A merino wool jumper made in Shetland but using Norwegian techniques as well. I'm calling it Peak Jumper. For the last few days it has been my fourth layer of clothing indoors.

Plus an Irish tweed hat.

Sea salt padded raincoat which was half price a few months ago. Waiting for sales to buy another.

Christmas turkey. We always buy a Free Range bronze turkey and Bird Flu put this under threat, but our usual supplier, a local Farm Shop have come up trumps and Christmas, for us, is saved.

Very interested to read your post. I don't have an air fryer but what sort of food items do you cook in it so you don't have to use your oven? Just interested to learn more about them.

LRavenscroft not so long ago we had a long discussion about the merits of air fryers. Some people were against it but for me, it has saved me a lot of money, I have not used my oven in over a year and it makes a good place for storing items. I need the hob or I would get rid of it.

Our air fryer isn't the drawer type. It's a pot and a fryer basket. We have cooked a whole chicken in it, chicken breasts, rice, chips (homade and oven), burgers, boiled eggs, made soup, cooked potatoes and veg in the pressure cooker bit. I have made cheese scones in it.

You can cook most things in an air fryer. Almost everything you can do in an oven.
We have chicken breasts wrapped in Parma ham plus roast potatoes cooking as we speak. Veg on the hob.

Yes, the Ninja air fryer - and thermal curtain linings. I'm sure they've paid for themselves already.

LRavenscroft, just about anything you'd cook in a fan oven - if you can fit it in! With a combination microwave (mini oven, grill and microwave), slow cooker and Instantpot, I only use the oven for occasional batch baking and very large family gatherings.

A Dreamland Relaxwell fleece blanket that keeps me warm while watching TV and means we can turn the thermostats down a bit.

Luckygirl3 Sun 18-Dec-22 17:41:47

Fleece bedding - sheet, duvet cover, pillowcases the lot! And I wear fleece pjs - brilliant - warm as toast!

Barmeyoldbat Sun 18-Dec-22 17:43:50

A new 15 tog duvet, used it for the first time last night and slept like a log, so did the cat. I also bought an air fryer but still trying to get to grips with it.

A flight to Vietnam for several weeks backpacking in February.

The Ninja Fryer and the soup maker. Both can be started and left while I get on with other things and turn themselves off (in case I forget 😉). The Ninja has meant not using the oven much. We've made a lot more soup since having the soup maker, even though soup is simple enough to make, as Mr A doesn't mind having a gadget to use 😅
