For me it is a single electric blanket which I have put on my armchair which keeps me nice and warm. Only 5 p and hour to run and saves putting the gas fire on and have put the central heating down too! I also have a fluffy heated top throw from Lakeland. I do feel the cold so, my other half says the house is much too hot!

Same for me Calendargirl. My SIL gave me his old phone and I still haven't got used to all the things that it can do.

A new battery for my I phone. It didn’t stay charged for any length of time. When I asked DS about getting one, his answer was not worth it, time you changed your phone.

Well. for once I didn’t take his advice. Went to a local phone shop and they put a new battery in. Hopefully it will keep me going for a while yet.

Didn’t want another phone, I like the one I have (GD’s old one!)

Netflix. A brilliant offer from BT. Half price for 24 months.

A video doorbell. We live at the back of the house but now I can see what is going on in the street.

I recently bought a smaller soup maker because the one I had made far too much soup. I can now throw in a few left over vegetables and make enough for a couple of meals. I don’t have room in my freezer to freeze it.

Great charity shop find just this morning - a brand new stripy Joules tunic dress in my size. Delighted!

I bought a perfect, immaculate, preloved duplicate of my 25 year old Musto jacket on eBay for £20, and I was so thrilled I didn’t wear it for three months, just gazed at it on the hook beside the old one, which is faded, torn, and most seams are held together with duct tape!

Kate1949 do you have a recipe book ? I bought a ninja pot which sounds same yours second hand but haven’t done anything except casseroles as no book !

If you are on Facebook, there are various Ninja groups with loads of great recipes on there. Be careful with cookbooks though - most are very much geared up for the American market. One which is good is A Handbook for Ninjaholics - Recipes To Feed An Obsession, which is full of UK tried and tested recipes. Or follow The Salted Pepper on Facebook and YouTube - she posts lots of useful videos showing you how to get the most out of your Ninja.

My new winter waterproof.

Wore this morning in monsoon conditions. Dry and warm.

Not recent purchases as bought earlier in the year but mine are 1. heated throw from Lakeland, it has been an absolute godsend.
2. A rather expensive cashmere jumper, it is so light and soft, warm and cosy and looks good with pretty much anything. I love the colour too. I think it will be with me for years.

A weighted blanket.

Booties for the dogs, one has cold paw problems. All are in waterproof warm booties, hopefully averting any more vet visits.

I bought a stick with a rotary stainless steel bottom that you press down and it whips up cream, mashes potatoes etc. with no electricity or batteries, cost $5. Saves me getting out the electric mixer and you can put it in the dishwasher. Back to the old days but it works beautifully.

My Joules windproof/waterproof bright yellow jacket, bought recently for our trip to America and Canada inc Alaskan cruise. Also thermals and long sleeved warm jumpers and tops, non of which I would normally wear. I wore the jacket only once on a whaling trip as the weather was so good and never wore the other items but boy have they come in handy in our recent cold snap. A vest, shirt, long sleeved top and jumper, then my lovely jacket. Snug as a bug in a rug.

Rubber pull on ice grippers for my boots/shoes. Wouldn’t be without them in the ice.
Oodie.
Heated throw.

Not so much a thing, as a service.

Our local pet supply shop has a dog bathing station. It features raised tubs with shower hose, supplied towels and shampoo, even rubber scrubbing brush. Then a drier with a long hose. It was brilliant to use, meaning no mess at home, and saving bending over the tub.

I will definitely use it again. Of course the dog wasn't thrilled with it...

A Tempur Ergonomic pillow. Now get a great sleep at night and don't wake with a stiff neck. Best thing is that when I bought you are given 28 day money back guarantee so if it doesn't work for you nothing is lost.

Probably my ankle length fleece lined hoodie. It is really cosy. Oh and the halagon heater...cheap to run. Was lovely first thing in morning while waiting for burner to warm boat up.

Very interesting reading how many people recommend air fryers, which is encouraging when I’m debating whether to buy one or not, but my most recent best buy has to be my enormous fleece hoodie. In the recent cold snap, it has been a godsend…I bought one each for my immediate family and we all find it hard to take them off!
Longer term best buy is my Karcher portable power washer…wish I’d had it years ago…invaluable for its intended original purchase, which was to clean up my two dogs after muddy walks, but also very useful for washing the car, watering the plants, de-icing windscreens, cleaning boots and shoes, etc etc…a must have and well worth the money.

A replacement battery for my fairly old laptop. It has made a huge difference. Not expensive either.
