I've got to clean out the cat litter tray and plan a lesson.

One stinks more than the other and it isn't the one full of actual poo.

🀞 M0nica. I was under the impression that within 3 months of having had covid you are still pretty much protected from catching another bout or at least won't be that ill? The worst time to pick it up again is after 6 months. Good luck.
I need to mop the kitchen floor again after doing it last night because daft DH let the dog back in through the wrong door with a line of dirty paws. Then we're heading off for a few days.

I was putting together some photobooks and then got an e mail to say that if I ordered them by the 18th and they were more than €20 I would get free delivery, and get them before Christmas. So I was rushing to get done by midnight. At 11 pm I was still on the last book and then everything slowed down and I couldn't load the pictures. So I gave up. Will have to pay the postage now. I didn't need them for Christmas anyway.

I have very little intention of doing anything much before I go to bed tonight, Monday.
I did it all yesterday: big family meal, presents to be wrapped, house cleaned, and all with a stinking cold, first for ten years. I just kept focusing on getting through to nine o' clock; we had a lovely time, and I intend to recuperate today. Sitting here in scruffy dressing gown and I don't care!

No wonder people have trouble sleeping! Any clearing up here is a morning thing. When I'm tired (usually about 2am) I put the electric blanket on to pre-heat the bed, brush my teeth, then switch the light off - done!

I really hate getting up to a messy house though. I mean, it's still messy (DD is untidy and DGS is a dervish) but it's bearable if I clear up before bed.

Ring someone and have β€˜a word’. Not looking forward to that.

Make supper, watch Mastermind, Only Connect and University Challenge .Put a hot water bottle in our bed. Then a little later go to bed and read my book club book. 3 hours later wake up.

I had to sort out my broadband contract renewal last night. Knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep for worrying about it. Ended up not getting to sleep till 3.

What have you got to do before you can go to bed tonight?

Take my meds
Clean my teeth
Go to the lavatory
Get washed

Not necessarily in that order.

Pretty much the same every night. Quite boring innit.

Finish some Christmas food prep that I keep procrastinating over...

Find a proper display spot for the garland of silver jingle bells, that has lived on the kit table for the last week!

Re-find my stash of gift tags!

Pittcity Mon 19-Dec-22 17:26:46

Put the bins out!

Finish the dishes in a minute. I ate later than usual as I've been out all day.
Then write lists. A shopping list for tomorrow. A list is things to do. A list of last minute gifts etc.
I like lists.

Walk back to the hotel-(please let it have stopped raining).
Put devices on to charge, have a hot shower, then read my new book along with a hit cup of tea.

Watch Mary Berry on TV to see if she does anything inspiring for my vegetarian Christmas guests. Still stuck on what to give them for Christmas lunch.

GagaJo, I think I have 'messy house immunity' by now - as there were four kids here when I worked - then eight people (one kid) when I went part time. I would have gone mad and/or got no sleep at all if I cleared up at night. Luckily, I don't need more than four or five hours kip - and wake full of energy, so do the morning stuff before anyone else is awake!

Nothing, exhausted after looking after grandchildren (4 and 18 months) all day and now collapsed on sofa until bedtime! We had great fun though.

I have another bash in the morning while I wait for DGS's stomach to wake up (his head and body are a good hour ahead of his stomach). It's pretty constant. I hate living this way, but other than becoming a total obsessive and cleaning all the time, I just have to tolerate it. Christmas is going to be a challenge.

In future I shall have to go downstairs and make sure the back door is closed. I live in a block of flats and one of the men downstairs keeps leaving the main door open.
Why is it that there is always one tenant who is more responsible than the others?

Continue stripping out the old kitchen and preparing for installation of new one immediately after Christmas. πŸ˜‚

MawtheMerrier Tue 20-Dec-22 09:20:05

@ Mamie - the lengths some people will go to to get out of cooking a Christmas dinner! grin πŸŽ… grin
This is a bit radical!

Mamie Tue 20-Dec-22 10:35:08

Mawthe Merrier πŸ˜‚. We will have our gas hob and bottle, a free-floating oven, one other power point and the sink. After Christmas day, none of those. 😱
We do have a mini oven, air fryer and sink in the utility though.
Actually cooking will be a masterpiece of creativity helped by Lidl's deluxe range. The Maire turned up with the old folk's Christmas hamper yesterday so we also have foie gras and sweet white wine. πŸ€”

Goodness knows how much washing...over two werks worth to do. I finally have water. Pipe feeding my standpipe has finally defrosted smile

Which is why we did our last kitchen in the Summer, so we could barbecue! We will do the same next time, hopefully this Summer!

I had this same problem today for guests visiting for a vegetarian meal and found Jamie Oliver's stuffed Butternut Squash you need the small round ones and they are amazingly tasty.

Let the dog out for her last wee, put her in her bed and sort her meds out for the morning. I do all the bathroom bits and bobs, check doors locked, fill my hot water bottle and head to bed. I then slap on my face cream for my wrinkles ( it doesn't work) and read my book until my head starts nodding.

Mamie Tue 20-Dec-22 11:57:45

The summer was devoted to the terrassier Fleurpepper. πŸ˜‚
There are only the two of us so not hard to improvise, especially with charcuterie, patisserie etc....

Get the bin in.
Pack a bag to stay over at DD2s tonight. Pack a bigger case for long haul flight.
Set newly repaired burglar alarm, give key and instructions to neighbour (just in case), then up and up and away with DD2 and family tomorrow until next week.
Very apprehensive - I think it’s an age/confidence thing.
