(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and wet outside here in brackley this morning.
I had my B12 plus flu jab yesterday ,and hoping later to get the bus to Bicester for browse and shop there .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from a mild and bright Co Armagh
I’m having a coffee break , I’ve been guilted into making mince pies , I’d forgotten what a faff they are .! But at least I had two jars of home made mincemeat from last year , jizzed it up with some stewed apples
Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s much milder here in my corner of Lancashire, 9°C and sunny with some white cloud.
I’m struggling at the moment and cannot use my iPad for long. The good news is it’s much milder and the sun is shining.
Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest Lancashire coast.
A sleepless night, for no particular reason apart from family arriving this week and last minute preparations.
I turned up for a Xmas lunch with music club members yesterday but no one else did! Sadly the founder of the club had collapsed on the way and had been taken to hospital by and resuscitated. His health sadly is very fragile. I go to the last meeting today and will find out the news. I have my songs prepared and quiche to take but don’t particularly feel like singing. I have been two days without my prescription so that might be part of it. It arrives today.
Thoughts to farview and harrigtan💐 will read through properly later.
Good morning from sunny Sefton.
We’re on FT GP duty this week so having a ball and sleeping soundly. DH has suggested a spreadsheet as the usual timings don’t apply - it’s a fun challenge and we’re keeping up!
The longed-for puppy’s arriving this afternoon Maw.
Have your best day possible everyone.

Thank you so very much for your caring words...I've suspected for a while that something was amiss...and now feel catapulted into a world of MRI scans, blood tests...visit booked for Alzheimer's nurse to visit...H has never been ill ,on pills etc in his 77yrs..physically fit as a fiddle..so hes been lucky...but unfortunately now that luck has run out...again, thank you all and Caepe Diem x
Morning from S Yorks where there is a wan winter sun. I slept very badly so just surfacing with a lot of coffee.
Not looking forward to this week's shop, its so very busy atm.
Counselling at midday.

May all days go according to plan, there's a lot of travelling going on!
Good morning from Shropshire.
We have only just woken up😱After a busy couple of weeks we have a few days to catch up on household jobs and Christmas preparation.
We enjoyed the farewell service for the reverend at DD’s village church.DGD read beautifully and we had a lovely chat with the Reverend afterwards. We then went for a walk around the village stopping for coffee and cake on the way home.
Baubles, hoping for a speedy recovery for your DGD.Hopefully the antibiotics will do their work and she won’t need IV antibiotics.
I am sorry to hear of your DH’s diagnosis fairview. As others have said we are all here to support you💐
Hope today goes well Ash.
Safe travels to all travelling today.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. I am off to collect the last few bits in town whilst DH goes to the dentist for a check up.
Sorry to hear about your DH's diagnosis farview

Marydoll what a carry on, hope you do just have a cold.

Sending get well wishes for your poorly little girl Baubles 🍀
Baubles such a worry for you all. Hoping your little GD feels better soon 🤞💐
Baubles I hope your wee gdd recovers quickly. Wee scone.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and dry. Farview I hope you are supported in real life with your husband's devastating diagnosis. 💐 Flowers for you too Harrigran. Safe journey to Grandmattie and Brook and to any others who are traveling.
Yesterday I went for a shower and the blooming thing has broken. I was so disappointed as I just wanted to stand under hot water, however I made do with a sink wash and washed my hair over the bath using a jug. I did test negative though which means I can go out today to get the last of the gifts. The rest of the day was spend resting.
Today I'm feeling better in increments so I'll head to the retail park to pick up vouchers and then to Tesco to get chocolates and booze. I'm buying ready meals for the next few days as I have no wish to cook. My senses of smell and taste aren't what they should be! Have a good day all
Sending birthday wishes for MrGravy 🎉🍺
Harrigran 💐
So sorry to hear your DGD is so poorly baubles hope she’s a little bit better today and over the worst - everything crossed for her
Thank you all for your good wishes for my travels today, I’m at the airport now and should be boarding soon
Baubles prayers for your DGD. How distressing for you all.
There is chicken pox and strep A in Dollie's school too.
Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where the sky looks to be mostly clear so I'm hoping to see the sun soon.
I was out early yesterday and Sainsbury's was already quite busy. I noticed they had a lot of turkeys in spite of recent scare stories. The rest of the day was pottering about with various little jobs as will happen today.
I'm another with travelling anxiety....starts with 'will I get a taxi' then 'will the taxi turn up'. Prior to that I will have woken at silly hours wondering if it's time to get up, in spite of having set 2 alarms!
I'm sorry to hear your news farview, that's an upsetting diagnosis to get. I hope your H stays relatively well for a long time yet.
A worrying time for those with poorly little ones Baubles. Hopefully it's not strep A for your Gd.
A lot of us sound busy and now I'm off to be busy too! Have the best possible day all.
A quick good morning from a wet Essex by the sea.
A visit to the tip first thing then a few bits to get at the supermarket.
I'll come back and read everyone's news later.
Have a good, safe, warm day xx
Supermarket shop for everything which will last until the middle of next week and will make a first batch of mince pies. I think. No other plans, but after two soakings yesterday I am happy to collect myself. Worth it, though, because our re-sited Carol service was very well attended and a joyous occasion. Lovely.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
8°C today and supposed to be sunny ☀️.
One of our grans probably knitted those bollards Shazza .
Sorry for your news farview and Harrigtan
Safe travels all those on the roads, rails, air and sea. Olddudders is back now I see.
A df coming for coffee this morning and I am doing a shift at the shop this afternoon and finishing preparations sometime between.
Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s mild and damp.
Sorry to hear your news about your DH farview.
💐 Harrigran.
It was such a busy day at work yesterday but I’ve only one more before I finish for the holidays.
DS’s 3year old is really unwell, she has chickenpox but yesterday her temp was so high that their gp tried to ring the hospital for advice but couldn’t get through so told them to take her to A&E. She was discharged with oral antibiotics but apparently has the beginnings of a secondary skin infection which could be strep A in which case she would need IV antibiotics so they have to keep a very close watch for signs that she’s getting worse.
I don’t think anyone slept last night.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning everyone from a rather wet Northampton. Hoping it stops by this afternoon so that we can enjoy our last health walk before Christmas. One of the walk leaders has invited everyone back to her house afterwards for mince pies, and there is talk of mulled wine.....
Visited a friend yesterday morning to drop off her present and card, and stayed for coffee and biscuits before heading into town on the bus.
Collected my new prescription sunglasses and am very pleased with them; hoping we get enough sun to make use of them but they will be good for holidays. Speaking of which I came home to a letter yesterday to say that my holiday to New Zealand in February has been cancelled for the second time. To say that I am annoyed is putting it mildly. I have emailed them as requested, and am waiting to hear about alternative options. It seems I am not meant to go!
Had a nice lunch out in a newly refurbished pub in town, Welsh Rarebit and a glass of rose! Then, having looked at my hair in a.mirror, found a walk-in hair salon and decided on a trim and blow-dry. I was in and out in 30 minutes and was very pleased with the result. My fault for not having enough taken off at my usual salon last time I went. I shall have to do some explaining to my stylist next time I go....
Then had a couple of hours browsing the shops and picked up a few extras for the DGDs. Also treated myself to new ear-rings for Christmas from my favourite jewellers.
Must spend a morning tidying up, and must also retrieve the Christmas cake from the garage freezer to thaw it out and ice it.
Safe journeys to all traveling today, and have a good Tuesday.
Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where its 7 °C.
I've woken, loaded with a heavy cold, well I hope that's all it is.I will test later, just in case I need anti virals.
farview, good to see you posting, but such dreadful news. There are many on here, who will be able support you
At 1am this morning, I was battling with our boiler. It was making strange noises, which I knew meant pressure issues. We think there is a leak somewhere, but the engineers have failed to find it.
Unfortunately the pressure was at zero and the person, who had tightened the tap so much, that I couldn't turn it with my swollen hands, was fast asleep and oblivious to my expletives mutterings.
He was already in the bad books, due to tumble dryer gate!
For about a week, I have been asking DH to clean the condenser, it has fallen on selective, deaf ears.
Yesterday, along with draining and cleaning the washing machine filter and doing a drum clean, I did it myself.
I had put the condenser on top of the radiator in the utility room to dry off and advised him not to put the dryer on, as I also needed to get in all the nooks and crannies.
Did he listen? Of course not!!!🤬
Later, I was was resting in the conservatory, (where else?) when I heard a racket like a helicopter taking off. I rushed to see what was happening. You guessed, the dryer was in full flow, with a load of towels inside, sans condenser. 😱
I spent the next hour cleaning (again) all the nooks and crannies of fluff.
Years ago, my old style dryer went on fire in our garage, due to fluff inside the motor and I have a fear of it happening again.
The air is rather frosty chez MDoll Towers this morning and it has nothing to do with the malfunctioning boiler.
Best wishes for today Ash and good your DH is accompanying you.
Grammaretto, I'm so sorry about the tooth, masks are a godsend!
Hoping that GM , brook and any other travellers have trouble free journeys today.
Its lovely to hear of all the busy-ness on here. I may bake, I will see how I feel.
Over the last two days, I have been delighted to hear from two granspals, it was such a pleasant surprise.
I'm going back to read of all your doings.
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a wet Hull.
NannyJan such family worries for you today with your mum and your daughter💐
Harrigran sorry for the loss of your cousin and a poignant day for you today💐
Farview sorry for your DHs diagnosis sending you both virtual hugs💐
Brook and grandMattie safe journeys and lovely family reunions.
GrannyGravy Happy Birthday to your DH.
We have two full days of GS childcare so I have lots of Christmas crafts to do. I’m hoping he will join in with a few.
I’ve enclosed some pictures of Christmas knitted toppers on the bollards in Thirsk. They made me smile and I hope they do the same for you.
All the best everyone 🌻🎄
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. A slightly less busy day today I hope. My turn to cook dinner. I might do a Mac n cheese. Otherwise I have a bit more Christmas cooking to do, including making a batch of rum butter even though I’m the only one who eats it. Everyone else prefers custard with their Christmas pudding. There’s a stack of ironing which I should get on with. Have a good day and commiserations to those going through difficulties 💐
