Good morning Mick and everyone, from a very grey and wet south Hants. Gosh - so many poorly ones 😢, I do hope good health is restored soon 🤞.
I’m not up yet … DH has brought me my morning coffee ☕️ and is encouraging me to stay in bed to drink it!!🥰. I can hear much clattering of dishes too and it’s not even my birthday 🤣.
Well a cuppa in bed is a real treat and doesn’t happen very often, so am going to enjoy it.
I’ll be assembling the Viennese biscuits today, blitzing the house and then collecting water for a friend that doesn’t drive - just in case the water situation isn’t resolved by Christmas.
Have the best day you can folks. Thinking of those that are unwell or with worries 🦩🦩🦩
Hugs and 💐💐 for you all x

ShazzaKanazza Fri 23-Dec-22 08:35:51

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey damp Hull but at least mild and no worries about ice for travelling around.

Feeling a touch delicate after a delightful evening out eating in the most delicious fish restaurant and enjoying lots of laughs.
We need to go to Bridlington to take my dear uncle his Christmas gifts. He will open them while we are there. When we get home I need to make my red cabbage and apple bake and DH making his white choc cheesecake for tomorrow as we have our Christmas dinner. I need to remember to take out the Turkey as well.

Cornergran and glammagran i’m so sorry your GC are poorly and hope they can feel better a little to enjoy their Christmas. It breaks my heart thinking of children so ill.

Your outings sound so lovely and Thankyou for sharing.
Hoping everyone with worries and stress have some respite today.

Have a lovely day if you can🌻🎄

NannyJan53 Fri 23-Dec-22 08:35:55

Good morning from a rainy and very grey Black Country.

Driving over to Telford to my cousins for lunch today at her house. Taking Mum and cousins Mum (Mums younger sister) will be there, so looking forward to that.

Hoping all the poorly little ones are better soon, especially for Christmas.

Urmstongran Fri 23-Dec-22 08:36:02

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. I’ve overslept & im meant to be heading out of the door in ten!
👋

MawtheMerrier Fri 23-Dec-22 08:44:53

Oops! Urmstongran !
Good morning from beneath the duvet in grey and wet N Bucks.
Feeling a bit glum as I am going to my next door neighbour and friend’s partner’s funeral this morning. They were not married but had been together for 16 years - she is divorced, he was widowed- but have known each other for getting on for 50 years as they were neighbours when these houses were new builds.
Perhaps once it is over I might begin to feel Christmassy.
So very sorry to hear of poorly people, especially little ones and sending you anxious mums and grannies hugs and a virtual shoulder if you need one.
🤞🤞🤞 all will be well. Xx

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from grey, foggy South Yorkshire. We finally got the tree put up yesterday. Not the magnificent effort DH would have made, but good enough! DS is going home later this afternoon and I will be flying solo until tomorrow afternoon. It’s been a joy to have both my children living in to look after me for the past four weeks, but we have to get back to some kind of normality after Christmas. And I have to slow down; I’ve been doing too much too soon, so it will be an opportunity for me to throttle back a little.
Corner I’m sorry your youngest is poorly. Hope he picks up soon. Father Christmas will cheer him up!
Glammagran I hope things improve rapidly for your family too!
Have the best day you can folks.

GrannySomerset Fri 23-Dec-22 08:54:35

So sad that there is so much illness about, and worrying that antibiotics appear to be in short supply. A difficult end to a difficult year, and not much sign of things improving soon.

A couple of bits of last minute shopping but first I need to turn out the kitchen cupboard of shame in a quest to find the baking beans so I can make a flan case for a sausage tart for Christmas Eve. It’s so long since I did anything like this I have no idea where I have secreted the essential tools for the job!

Chrissielou Fri 23-Dec-22 09:01:58

A horrible rainy dark start to the day in Oxfordshire. Just waiting for my shopping to arrive, a couple of substitutes, one silly one replacing a vegan item with a clearly non-vegan alternative. That will unfortunately mean me going out and sourcing a replacement.
Lots of poorly people, I hope all recover quickly, my DS1 has just had covid and at last is testing -ve, thankfully.
Stay warm and dry and enjoy Christmas Eve eve grin

GrannyGravy13 Fri 23-Dec-22 09:03:44

Morning all

Sorry to learn you are not feeling well Mick have an easy day.

What a worry for cornergran and glammagran there are so many nasty viruses and bugs doing the rounds at the moment, fingers crossed your little families are in the mend.

We had a visit from DD and the GSs early evening yesterday on their way home from Colchester Zoo and the reindeer experience they were full of Christmas joy.

I have four gammons to cook today and shall be thinking of our dear Phoenix whilst doing so.

Eldest son and wife will be arriving at lunch time (their plans are fluid and will be here until at least next Thursday, or maybe over New Year). Waitrose delivery also arriving at lunchtime, hopefully no substitutions but there will be time to pop out locally if anything is missing. DH might even go and pick up the Turkey and butchers order this afternoon rather than tomorrow morning.

Have a great Christmas Eve Eve folks 🤶🎄🎁🙋‍♀️

Gingster Fri 23-Dec-22 09:04:49

Good morning all and it’s another grey and dismal one her on the Suffolk coast.

Sorry to hear of all the little children being so poorly. Hopefully they’ll all be able to enjoy the big day. 🎅.

Today we are travelling back to Essex for our family Christmas festivities. It’s been a nice relaxing few days but it will be good to be back ‘home’ .

Last night I had the book clubs Christmas meal at a local pub. Very nice! They are a lovely group and very chatty and friendly. The food was very good too.

We exchanged gifts with our lovely neighbour and had a cuppa with her. She reluctantly had a mince pie and ended up choking on it. 😢. She doesn’t have much conversation and is hard of hearing, so an hour and a half was long enough. ☺️.

Keep safe everyone and enjoy this busy time! 🎄

Good Morning from a misty/light rain S Yorks

Bit of admin to do...work out whether to hunker down or go to the gym energy wise...

I really need to do a long needed task, return a printer to a shop as it doesn't do what I want most, print glossy photos, (my hobby os to play around with photos on computer and make art quality prints) but it will be too busy there until after Christmas

....I've done all the shopping I need for my simple Christmas - its a Quaker meeting on the day, am seeing the family at the New Year - but just need to get meds - the roads are heaving arent they!

Cornergran, glammagran, bests for the little ones, I hope the funeral goes as well as it can, and that you all get what's needed done and families arrive safely.
Greyduster your family have been lovely - it sounds like you are ready to move on, bests with that confidence wise

Take care poorlies!

Grammaretto Fri 23-Dec-22 09:16:39

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very misty here but so much milder thankfully.
Christmas eve's eve!
I had great intentions to do most preparations yesterday but had to do a shift at the market.
I then managed to burn my loaf of bread after all the care of making it.
Today I'm collecting a bike for one of the DGC and making vegan mince pies.
Then just create beauty out of chaos, defrost the chicken but maybe later for that, make stuffing and a vegan option.
and be glad when it's all over bah humbug

Take it easy Mick and anyone else not feeling 100%

BlueSapphire Fri 23-Dec-22 09:19:31

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, but I don't have to go out today, so I'm not worried.

Did my usual trip out to the shops yesterday, got to M&S Cafe to find it closed and the space being used as a pick-up point for customer food orders. And the shop was heaving, so I didn't bother shopping there. Had a mooch around Boots and Next and managed to find an eye-shadow palette with exactly the colours I wanted.

Then to Sainsbury's where I had my coffee and a jam doughnut! The store was busy, but all the tills were open so no queuing at the checkouts for once. Then headed to the bus stop where I had to wait for an hour instead of the usual few minutes. Thank goodness it was mild and dry; passed the time chatting to a lady also waiting and we put the world to rights.

The cats are off to the cattery this morning, then I shall be cooking the ham, and icing the Christmas cake. A couple more presents to wrap for the DGDs, their cards to write and then that's me done.

So much busyness this morning!

Thoughts with all those feeling under the weather today and those with poorly family and friends.

Safe travels to those with journeys to make; shall be thinking of my DD and DS-in-law who are flying to Belfast to stay with his family. Have a good Christmas Eve Eve everyone.

BlueSapphire Fri 23-Dec-22 09:22:07

Just to add that I can't imagine how the box of Black Magic chocolates ended up in my shopping yesterday...... They must have just fallen off the shelf as I walked past them........

Sar53 Fri 23-Dec-22 09:28:30

Good morning from a very wet, grey and miserable day in Essex by the sea. I am so glad I don't have to go out this morning.

I've done the ironing, put a wash on and will vacuum shortly. I do like to leave the place clean before we go away.

Tomorrow we are off to a hotel for Christmas, back on the 28th. We last went there in 2017 and had a good time so hopefully this year will be just as good.

In case I don't have time to post tomorrow I will wish you all a Very Happy Christmas. Lots of love xxx

Grandmadinosaur Fri 23-Dec-22 09:29:55

I haven’t been to our M&S for a couple of weeks bluesapphire but the same thing happened here last week. Our Sainsburys closed there cafe a while back and is sad,y just boarded up. It’s very much missed. It is supposed to be reopening but not as we know it 😬

luluaugust Fri 23-Dec-22 09:30:31

Good morning all from a dark, wet W Kent. Getting ready for the arrival of my DB, he lives alone and will talk away for the first couple of hours to catch us up with everything that has happened to him.
Ver best wishes to all those who are not well or worrying about sick children and grandchildren. Please stay in Mick

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 23-Dec-22 09:33:05

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire. I’m up and have just finished breakfast. I’m setting off shortly to collect daughter from the station. Younger son is upstairs wrapping presents using MY paper etc.! He had all his presents sent here. He will be cooking fish pie tonight. I am so sorry to hear of all the angst affecting Gran’s families today. Hopefully today will be a better day.

Sar53 Fri 23-Dec-22 09:41:36

I have just read through all the posts and I'm sorry to hear about all the poorly people especially the little ones. Lots of nasty bugs around at the moment. My Son in Law is quite poorly and meant to be going to see his parents on the Isle of Wight tomorrow, a dilemma, to go or not go.
I hope all those who are ill or have family that are get well soon.

Georgesgran Fri 23-Dec-22 09:52:55

Good morning from New 🍎York, where we are expecting a dreadful day, weatherwise. The flights were not without problems - BA cocks up again!
It’s not yet 5 AM, but I’m having trouble adjusting.
DD2 and DGS2 both have heavy colds and hacking coughs, so not sure what we’ll do today.
Sorry to hear so many are unwell, especially the little ones - it’s a worry.

Ziplok Fri 23-Dec-22 10:00:13

Good morning. We have another grey, misty, drizzly one here today. Looks set in for the day - give me bright, frosty days any time (though perhaps not as cold as last week).
A few last minute jobs to do out and about today then that’s it, I hope, until after Christmas.
I haven’t read all the posts through so hope you are all ok.

Blossoming Fri 23-Dec-22 10:05:50

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s raining in this corner of Lancashire, currently 7°C.

Nothing much planned for today. Mr. B is out delivering some Christmas presents. I’m unable to do very much so a day of R&R for me.

Wishing everyone a good day. 🦩🦩🦩

dragonfly46 Fri 23-Dec-22 10:08:29

Pleased your little one got his antibiotics Corner it is such a worry.

Kalu Fri 23-Dec-22 10:45:53

Good morning all from Glasgow. Milder weather and a bit damp.

A message from our surgery yesterday informing us to call only if it is an emergency as they are overwhelmed with a huge work, load.
Sending hugs to all unwell or worried about families, especially to little GC. All I am reading atm moment is people are dropping like flies with various infections making them so unwell and Christmas has been cancelled for them. 😢
A nearby elderly neighbour was blue lighted to hospital late last night. His wife died two years ago and I feel so sad for him and his family.

A hopefully quick shop for various bits and pieces today.

Much love and strength to all whatever worries you are dealing with.

Greyduster Fri 23-Dec-22 10:51:13

Thought this might raise a smile!
