Is it a sign of getting old… I’m off to my DD tomorrow and taking tea bags (inc herbals), my favourite porridge and an air freshener for the bathroom 🤦‍♀️. A friend of mine takes her iwn pillow. Do you pack items you never used to take? Happy Christmas one and all 🎅🤶🏻

Mr. B always takes his pillow. I take my meds and prescription but not anything unusual really. In my younger days it would have been spare knickers and a t-shirt or two!

I take green tea bags!

Just my meds that’s it. If I go to stay with my son I take Bran Flakes can’t often get them where he lives.

More meds than before- they need a special bag now.

Industrial pads for oops moments when laughing my head off 🤣😳

Masks because of Covid, sleeping tablets and insurance! Oh- and travel sickness tablets just in case.

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Dec-22 10:22:42

Meds and gaviscon advance.

Painkillers, sweeteners and my own special mug, my lovely Christmas one at this time of year.

My 4 pillows - 2 for head, 1 for under knees and 1 little one for under waist.
If not going by car, I have to manage without, tho.

JaneJudge Fri 23-Dec-22 10:41:59

we always take a bottle of craft gin

Witzend Fri 23-Dec-22 10:44:24

My own pillow (when I remember) and if going to dd1, some proper milk - they only have the oaty or soya stuff and although they do sometimes remember to buy some for me, I can’t bank on it.
If staying at anyone’s house and going by car, my lovely cosy dressing gown.

Purplepixie Fri 23-Dec-22 10:46:50

I also take my own pillow because I get such a stiff and sore neck with any other. Also take my camomile tea bags and sometimes some biscuits just incase I want a nibble in the night!

Greyduster Fri 23-Dec-22 10:57:09

Digestive biscuits! No-one eats them but me, so they don’t tend to get factored into the shopping if DD is ordering! Tick Tock redbush tea because it’s the only one I can drink these days.

A little plug in night light for if we wake in the night needing the loo, and all our meds.

Baggs Fri 23-Dec-22 11:43:08

I used to always travel with a bucket. I no longer do that.

Baggs Fri 23-Dec-22 11:46:17

Not when youth hostelling though, even back then. Nowadays there are foldable buckets so one could shove one in one's rucksack.

Me too plus extra disposal bags as I don’t like to leave my Tena ladies in their bin 🤣🤣

Oh yes! I’ve packed my Gaviscon plus all my meds - it's fun getting older isn’t it?

I definitely wearing a mask on the train, I heard a hospital consultant on the radio this morning saying we should go back to wearing masks in public because of the various viruses in circulation. I’ve packed an eye mask also because DD’s bedroom is not as dark as I like it to be when sleeping.

Spare glasses.

I'll tell you anyway: to wash clothes in before the ubiquitousness of washing-machines in the Scottish Highlands.

It also proved useful when travelling back from Bruges and a bottle broke. It was already in the bucket so it didn't make a mess or spill broken glass anywhere. Can't remember what was in the bottle.

Having found the sound level at the Glasgow Panto this year actually hurt my ears and apparently affected my balance, I'm now going to take disposable ear buds everywhere.

Yammy Fri 23-Dec-22 13:04:25

Meds, Gavison.tena ladies. I never thought of a night light I will look for one. We are already there and wish I had brought an eye mask and earplugs I forgot what traffic could be like in a town.
