Is it a sign of getting old… I’m off to my DD tomorrow and taking tea bags (inc herbals), my favourite porridge and an air freshener for the bathroom 🤦‍♀️. A friend of mine takes her iwn pillow. Do you pack items you never used to take? Happy Christmas one and all 🎅🤶🏻

Meds , marmite, torch, thin bathrobe.
Meds essential
Marmite I miss it if they've not got it (surprisingly so many people ask to try it)
Torch, dark paths and unfamiliar hotel rooms
Bathrobe.
Been caught out with fire alarms in indoor pools or in the night before now!

Why in heavens name do you need to take an air freshener to your daughter's. If my daughter's did that I would be seriously hurt.

I don't take anything that I didn't have with me formerly.

Indeed there is a list of things I no longer need to bother about.

Sanitary towels and tampax head it, then comes loads of fashionable clothes, a handbag, camera and film, my dance clothes, as usually I was off to a dance course, two pairs of sandals and some smarter shoes as well. pens, writing paper, foreign language dictionaries and phrase-books, swimsuit, beach towel and probably a great deal else.

I don't take anything - except for clean clothes, of course. There's nothing I'd need that wouldn't be available. Baggs, I did find the last cinema visit far too loud but just stuffed tissues in my ears.

Meds (my medicine bag seems to grow larger every year), tena pads, more spare knickers, ear plugs and face mask if communal sleeping,

DaffyDill Fri 23-Dec-22 15:17:46

My own pillow ,tea bags and mug .kindle .iPad, medication.
Sometimes a hot water bottle

cornergran Fri 23-Dec-22 14:11:31

Hot water bottle and often a pillow, depends on the destination, iPad and charger. Fan heater if we’re going to a hotel.

AmberSpyglass Fri 23-Dec-22 13:45:56

Lavender pillow spray, waterproof travel speakers if I’m staying in a hotel, mini toiletries in fancy brands, a couple of crystals, a fancy sleep mask and a mini essential oil diffuser. Oh, and a travel clothes steamer.

Suspect it’s not an age thing, it’s just an “I’ve become very high maintenance” thing…

Forsythia Fri 23-Dec-22 13:34:30

Ear plugs, an eye mask to black out light, medication, phone, iPad, necessary clothes and toiletries, car blanket and cushions just in case, decaf coffee as I’m the only one who drinks it. If I’m going for longer then the list would be longer too.

Thanks Baggs. Completely understand the sound levels. They seem to be set absolutely at pain levels these days. Ear buds are a good idea.

silverlining48 Fri 23-Dec-22 13:27:51

Medicines, like tablets in case of pain , indigestion tablets, plasters for blisters, and if we are driving, pillows.

After travelling during Covid, something to wee in!
We stopped on the A1 at a service station( only a little one) and they had closed their loos so now I’m ready.
Never had to use it😂😂

Meds, Gavison.tena ladies. I never thought of a night light I will look for one. We are already there and wish I had brought an eye mask and earplugs I forgot what traffic could be like in a town.

Baggs Fri 23-Dec-22 12:59:02

Having found the sound level at the Glasgow Panto this year actually hurt my ears and apparently affected my balance, I'm now going to take disposable ear buds everywhere.

I'll tell you anyway: to wash clothes in before the ubiquitousness of washing-machines in the Scottish Highlands.

It also proved useful when travelling back from Bruges and a bottle broke. It was already in the bucket so it didn't make a mess or spill broken glass anywhere. Can't remember what was in the bottle.

J52 Fri 23-Dec-22 12:52:41

Spare glasses.

Masks because of Covid, sleeping tablets and insurance! Oh- and travel sickness tablets just in case.

I definitely wearing a mask on the train, I heard a hospital consultant on the radio this morning saying we should go back to wearing masks in public because of the various viruses in circulation. I’ve packed an eye mask also because DD’s bedroom is not as dark as I like it to be when sleeping.

GrannySeaside51 Fri 23-Dec-22 12:45:02

Jaxjacky

Meds and gaviscon advance.

Oh yes! I’ve packed my Gaviscon plus all my meds - it's fun getting older isn’t it?

GrannySeaside51 Fri 23-Dec-22 12:43:15

Nannylovesshopping

Industrial pads for oops moments when laughing my head off 🤣😳

Me too plus extra disposal bags as I don’t like to leave my Tena ladies in their bin 🤣🤣
