Recommendations for sofa and armchairs

Can anyone recommend a decent sofa and armchair. Not to low and fairly firm as apposed to soft and squishy. I need good support for my spine . The reason I am asking is that I purchased a new sofa and matching chair last year and it has been disappointing from the word go. So many issues with it in terms of comfort and wear. I need to replace and don't want to make a mistake again.

I bought a two seater sofa on impulse a few years ago because it was on offer and I’ve regretted it ever since because it’s too small. And I once had a sofa specially made but didn’t check if they could get it into the house. They just about managed it. My two seater is a Parker Knoll and it’s very supportive. You can have them made with varying degrees of firmness.

Have a look at the Stressless range of sofas and chairs. A range of shapes and sizes and always infinitely comfortable and supportive in my experience.

I've had the Abbey range from M&S before and they were my best sofa's yet. I sold them because I moved house and they looked lost in the large sitting room as I had two 2 seaters and I needed 3 & 4 seaters to fill the room. I went for a different style and regretted it straight away as the new ones were very low and I couldn't reverse the cushions, so I'll be going for the Abbey again when I need a new one.

I’ve a Parker knoll two seater recliner sofa and a single chair. Very comfortable, the right amount of support back and legs. I got mine in the January sales ten years ago and it’s as good to sit on now as it was then.

HSL chairs are made to fit you and support your back, neck etc. We bought one each when we moved plus a sofa. Love them!

I'm moving into a new flat next month, and treating myself to a new sofa. I can't remember how long it is since I had a brand new one - I'm just a sucker for second hand furniture.

I'm swithering between Parker Knoll and Habbio. I love the environmental ethics of the latter but PK feels aspirational, and I'm drawn to that too!

We finally after many years managed to be able to purchase a sofa and armchairs from Ercol and have never ever regretted it.
