Good afternoon from my bed, where I have taken up residence and am merrily tapping away since I've had no voice for several days.

Its dark and rainy outside... not missing anything at all.

only just got round to reading all your posts , hope the fingers are hurting less now! It has been raining but not too heavily although they are threattening us with heavier today and tomorrow. I have been slogging away all morning , boringly going through paperwork and chucking things out and filing stuff as it had all got in rather a mess, I would rather dig a garden than this! Necessary but it seems never ending and you look at 2 or 3 hours work and there doesnt seem much to see for it. ! Ah well it is market day here and of course the sales , so I have kept well away from the chaos today, and having got the boring stuff done and the bedroom sorted and the washing up done, I came on here to see what you had all been up to, which mostly sounds a lot more interesting than my morning. Time for a well earned cup of decent coffee and get my book out and put radio 3 on for some decent music as a reward for all my efforts. If it stops raining I might go out for a short walk but at the moment doesnt look very promising.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s raining heavily in this corner of Lancashire, currently 8°C.

Nothing planned for today. Hoping everyone is as well as can be expected.

Good morning all from soggy wet Harrogate
My Sainsburies delivery has just been and all put away. They didn’t have the coffee I wanted so they sent double the size - what’s not to like about that?
I pay for the size I wanted!
Back to the dull routine trying to persuade DH he wants to go out in the
car with me for company or sitting watching the gogglebox all day till 11.30 pm! He calls it learning I call it being lazy! He’s learning how to cook just now (not that he will demonstrate the new skill).
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning. I’m sitting in the waiting room at the doctors after taking a tumble on boxing day sad. It dark, misty and depressing in central Scotland today. Envisaging a trip to the community hospital.

Ziplok Wed 28-Dec-22 10:19:00

Hello all,
it’s a wet, dull morning here today, so doubt I’ll be venturing too far unless it brightens up a bit.
Sensible, mick to take things at a steady pace today. There’s no need to dash about if you don’t have to.
Hope you all have a peaceful day.

Good morning everyone, it’s a clear sky at the moment and about 13° due rise later.

Yesterday I had to confirm my resident’s card for here and the process seems different for every single person. DH did his at the beginning of December, came home, said, “That’s done, very simple.” No bits of paper given to him. I went, there was the usual long wait but I was eventually seen , details taken and my eyes bio-metrically photographed, and photo and fingerprints done. Basically the same process as filling in a passport application. But then I was given an A4 sheet of paper with a list of instructions to further the process on the internet in a couple of days.
We know a young woman who should be able to help us take it on to the next step but she is not back at work until next week, she has said she’ll contact us then. My husband is still adamant that he wasn’t given further instructions and I must admit it was only because, forewarned, I asked, that I was told about carrying on using internet. Very frustrating afternoon.

This afternoon I have an appointment to see a different dermatologist about my skin condition. There was great difficulty taking my fingerprints yesterday, shows what three years of using a steroid cream will do, despite me scrupulously washing the ointment off my fingers after use.

Thank you everyone whose sent good wishes for my husband. It really helps. He seems completely recovered but we are still seeing our doctor as soon as possible.

Much love to everyone else with health and other worries. I didnt dare start reading todays posts or I’d have been writing this at lunch time!

The photo was taken on Boxing Day.

Morning from a grey S Yorks, but not too cold.

Yesterday I went to the gym hurray things back to ordinary. Sadly I'm not well enough to go to family at New Year and cancelled last night, but they were very nice and loving. I've got a List which includes somehow getting a non arriving royal Mail parcel which is a skybox which meant altering the engineer for next week,

Chaotic as they are supposed to be switching me to the new system before the engineer now. One part of Sky never knows what the other one does. One or two similar must do's in next couple of days.

Not sure if I'll make it to the gym but will tomorrow as I escape when the cleaner comes.

Please travel safe and cross fingers public transport wise and tale care all poorlies

Susan good news there re little one, your best christmas present him getting weller.

hulahoop Wed 28-Dec-22 09:52:05

Ouch Shazza hope fingers better for when you go on Friday. We have to go to bank where it is always busy since they shut several in surrounding areas and there are only 2 counters !! Not dressed yet so better get a move on.

Morning from calm S Lanarkshire. I came home in convoy yesterday afternoon, DD driving me in the 4x4 and SiL driving my car. The farm is high up (when they had cows it was the highest dairy farm in Scotland), and there was still a lot of snow there. They think nothing of it.

Lunch today with my sister who is down from Aberdeen so I’m looking forward to seeing her.

It’s so nice that everyone seems to have had a pleasant Christmas and poorly children are improving.

Wishing everyone the best of days🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Sefton where it’s fine weather for ducks.
In fact it’s perfect conditions for the Seasalt-type wellingtons bought yesterday in Sainsbury’s near Aintree Racecourse where the assistant gently addressed me as ‘Queen’. Gosh, it’s many moons since that’s happened. It reminded me of visiting DS1 at uni when ‘Me ducks’ was another term I thoroughly enjoyed.
I’m out today to buy strawberries for a trifle, something I seldom make but love to eat. To counterbalance the calories I need to rediscover my swimming mojo. Oh, heck!
The continuing good news of Susan56’s B is most uplifting. Happy birthday wishes are sent to Shazza’s DGS. 🎈 🎈 🎈
Whatever your plans, may they include a reason to smile.

Grandmabatty Wed 28-Dec-22 09:24:50

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and very grey. Susan it's good to hear that B is mending quickly.
Yesterday I had an unexpected visit from dd and the boys. It was lovely to see them.
Today I'll visit mum and then my friend and her partner. Then I'll pick up the steak pie I've ordered for New Year's Day. I was invited out tonight but I'm not going. It was a gathering of former colleagues but we really don't have anything in common anymore and some of them are quite nasty so it's a big no from me. I'll happily stay home. Have a good day all.

karmalady Wed 28-Dec-22 09:22:25

Good morning, s somerset is gloomy and wet and winds are expected later

It has been silent since christmas day, not much on tv but I have been thoroughly engrossed in trying to work out a top down jumper pattern with a complicated brioche triangle. Two days later and having frogged twice, I gave up and am making a different pattern. I never expected that and had intended to do other things

The upside of all that silent concentration was the very good sleeping when I eventually got to bed

No shopping for me and a long car drive ahead to wales on saturday. I have lost track of the days of the week, as usual for this time of year

GrannySomerset Wed 28-Dec-22 09:12:34

DD, DSiL and DGD1 arrive this afternoon so a foray to the supermarket is essential to replenish stocks. It’s a miserable morning so I am not rushing.

There still seems to be a lot of sickness around so think I might revert to a face mask in the supermarket. Too many bugs around just now for comfort. Have a good enough day, everyone.

baubles Wed 28-Dec-22 09:10:12

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Another busy day yesterday with ten of us for a very late lunch at a restaurant after which the visitors from France came back to our house for drinks and nibbles. They are moving on today so I am looking forward to a very quiet afternoon which might very well include the words sofa, film, and chocolate.

Thinking of all the poorly folk, may everyone find peace today.

Gingster Wed 28-Dec-22 09:08:13

Good morning from a dreary very wet Essex.
Just walked little pooch and had to dry off trousers with hair dryer and also little pooch. 🐶.

We’re are off to friends in a mo - the chaps to go out for breakfast and the ladies to stay and have coffee.

Take care ❤️

Kalu Wed 28-Dec-22 08:58:45

Good morning all from Glasgow, damp and dreich outside but feeling slightly milder.

Back to nursing duties today as DH woke at 4.00am with D&V symptoms. Poor man, unnecessarily apologising for a slight bit of sick in the bed. I have dealt with so much worse. Fresh PJs and now settled into another bedroom where I hope he settles and has an uninterrupted sleep.

No plans for today anyway and I will just take the day as it comes.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 28-Dec-22 08:53:51

Good morning from a wet and blustery Oxfordshire, a normal cleaning and washing day today with a bit of ironing thrown in to cheer it all up. Not. A shopping delivery minus some essential items will be here later so MrOops will have to pop to the shops tomorrow to find the missing bits.
Save journeys to all the travellers and hope the poorly amongst us all get well soon.
Have a good day everyone.

Urmstongran Wed 28-Dec-22 08:52:49

No, I wasn’t aware of Innocents Day when I’ve (very rarely to be honest) been over in Spain at this time of the year. I’m not the least bit religious but it seems incongruous that a day which used to commemorate a tragic event has been hijacked to be used for jokey purposes. Seems strange?

Grandmadinosaur Wed 28-Dec-22 08:51:07

Thank you Marydoll and Maw yes it’s the Feast of the Holy Innocents.

ginny Wed 28-Dec-22 08:42:16

Good morning everyone.
Not very pleasant outside, wind and rain here in N. Bucks.
Son in Law had to go to A & E on Monday evening. Good job he did as they said he would have developed full blown pneumonia if he left it any longer.
Today we have to pick up the hamper that we won in a raffle last week. They were closed yesterday .
Other than that no particular plans do I think some tidying in my craft room and some sewing.
Safe journeys to all on the move ,speedy recoveries wished for all who are poorly and a good day for everyone.

Susan56 Wed 28-Dec-22 08:36:20

Happy birthday to your grandson Shazza🥳🎂🎁

Greyduster Wed 28-Dec-22 08:34:21

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire were it is cold and grey but dry. If it stays dry I may take my leg out for a walk. I forgot to arrange to have my dustbin put on the pavement so it won’t get emptied today. Fortunately it’s not that full and I don’t generate a lot of waste these days so it will have to wait until next time.
Not a lot planned today. A couple of drawers to clear and I may make some soup. I seem to have a lot of left over vegetables. DD brought a lot of food here for Christmas but didn’t take much of it home with her!
Have the best day you can folks.
