I know a lot of people don’t really like NYE, ( we’ve spent many a year in bed by midnight! ) but this year we’re going to a nice local pub for a few drinks. wine

I’m not keen on New Years Eve so probably be in bed.
Just come back from Madeira. Couldn’t manage to get in for New Years Eve but hear it’s really something special, maybe another year😊.

Hogmanay was always a big night in Scotland - parties, pipers, etc In the past few years we tended just to have a quiet night in. Since DH died almost four years ago followed by my darling Dad almost two years ago I dread the first couple of weeks of the new year - just want January to be over. Will be tucked up in bed early and hope 2023 will be a happier and more peaceful year for all.

Nye makes me sad. Nearly always has. Another year gone.

For many years a group of us would go away for a few days but one friend died and it all kind of stopped.
This year Friends coming for very easy meal and some bridge . None of us sleeping that well currently due to health so not staying up until
Midnight !

We've been invited to DD1's home to spend the evening with them. Her in-laws will also be there and will be bringing some games, apparently. We usually watch Big Ben and the fireworks on TV, then sing 'Auld Lang Syne'; sometimes we go outside if the weather permits to watch local fireworks and maybe bang a saucepan or two!
When our girls were small we used to have a party with neighbours who had children of a similar age, because none of us could get babysitters. The children could go to sleep upstairs (but rarely did!) and we played silly games we could all join in, like the Generation Game. Happy times!

In the mid 80s to the mid 90s we used to go to our local pub on NYE . My whole family and my In -Laws all lived on the same housing estate and knew everyone in the pub so no strangers . My children were teenagers so ok at home and we used to party till early hours . Totally different now , as my husband died 16 years ago and I prefer to be at home and in bed by 9 o’clock . I’m a bit of a miserable so and so now .
I don’t have to be alone as I’m invited to a friends party but prefer not to

We spent many a Hogmanay and New Year walking the streets of Aberdeen, first footing anyone and everyone.
Now 50 years later, 16 of us are going off to a local restaurant then back to our house for the bells and a glass of bubbly.
All the best to you and yours in 2023.

An early night, we might watch the neighbours fireworks at midnight, they seem to have money to burn, so a great display!

We don't really know anyone here so no invitation. Daughter who we moved to be near has yet another party with her in laws they don't invite us. Managed to get her to agree to lunchtime drinks at a pub. Early night I expec t DH is still coughing hi s heart up.

We would have gone out tonight, but after last year it was quiet in the pubs in our small town. So were staying in and having a drink with a few nibbles and watch the telly and to bed.. But tomorrow we will be going out in the afternoon for a drink at the local club..

Indian takeaway, a couple of lagers, and watching something on Netflix. Day with the grandchildren tomorrow.

Currently a family table football tournament. Then nibbles and sausage roles (DD has just made some) then reading, playing games or dozing until midnight, open the bubbly and then to bed.

I did think of making some more mince pies (2 half jars of mincemeat to use up) but didn’t get around to it. Will make them tomorrow - after all it is still Christmas until 6th Jan, and we do like our mince pies.

Other than that, I will shortly be cracking open a bottle of fizz for midnight. Happy New Year,,everybody. 🍾🥂
