Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark as usual here in brackley with signs of rain .
Today another easy day in , yesterday I popped out tom local store ,and felt unwell .
Effects from Flu jab previous week with it combined on the other arm with the B12 one.
I need to build my strength up so I can return to normal life.
Mick

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.
I haven’t read your posts but will later when our friends have gone. I think they are still asleep. DH is cooking a full English later and our other friends are walking over to enjoy it with us all.

Lovely night out last night at the casino and I had a little win on the roulette which is most unlike me but my numbers kept coming out.

Baby B took her first steps yesterday about 4 between her mum and Dad and she’s not ten months yet.
Grandson enjoyed his birthday but his mother was feeling too ill to take him out so he spent all day with my son. He said the word Birthday which was lovely to hear. At one point he was sat in our bed with GD1 eating McDonald’s chips. As it was a special occasion I didn’t mind. They are just so cute. 🥰

Just packing today for hols today and hoping I can find things that fit!

Have a lovely day but thoughts to those struggling with illness and worries.

A mild but rather grey start in Oxfordshire this morning. A very lazy day yesterday so today I will stir myself. A dog walk shortly, and then prepare for DS2 and family who are coming for tea. I will need to do a food shop tomorrow, lots of light non-meat meals are needed now.
Mick do give your GP a call, best to share your health concerns and not self diagnose.
I hope you all find some sunshine today.

ginny Thu 29-Dec-22 08:15:31

Good morning everyone.
Well it is not raining here at the moment. Hoping it holds off as we are outs with DD3 and the boys to see a light show at Gullivers Land late afternoon.
N
Before that I have sausage rolls to make and muddy make pie filling with the Turkey and ham leftovers.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Kalu Thu 29-Dec-22 08:23:10

Please ignore the housework Marydoll, it can wait. Pushing yourself to do more could potentially make you more ill. It’s just not worth it.

Keep up with the driving kitty, it’s just like riding a bike and hopefully it won’t be too long now until you are back behind the wheel too Grey. Independance is key.

Gingster Thu 29-Dec-22 08:36:19

Good morning all and it’s dry here in Essex.
This morning is bowls club. Dh might come along. He hasn’t been for a long while but I think he needs to get out more.
Dgd1 is taking dgd6 to have her hair cut this morning and then back here for lunch with Dd. We’ll have a jolly afternoon.

Take care all.

grandMattie Thu 29-Dec-22 08:38:55

Gosh, this must be the latest I have posted.
Thank you, the journey home was easy….in parts. The train from Bristol was already o the platform so I didn’t have to wait in the wind and rain. I was very glad I had a booked seat as by the time we reached Reading ,it was standing room only! Getting off was very slow.
The automatic gate swallowed my ticket, which I needed for St. Pancras. The tube was a longtime coming…. I got to St. Pancras with about 12 minutes to spare. HS1 for Ramsgate arrived just as I got to the platform, turnaround took 4 minutes! Phew…
Once home, the routine of unpacking, washing, cooking, etc., took over!
Today, I need to fill the very empty fridge. At the same time, I’ll try to change (with her permission) the handbag DD gave me for Christmas at M&S.
Other than that, library to change my books, ATM for some cash, fold and iron laundry, etc.
Have a quiet day, Carpe diem. ❤️🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from a slowly brightening North Yorkshire. Chest infection following the dreaded lurgy still has me in it’s grip. I think I’ll follow Kalu’s advice though not meant for me. There is much I should be up and doing but everything is such an effort. DH is much the same not that changing the sheets or doing the washing ever troubles his mind. Wishing a calm unhurried day for everyone.

NannyJan53 Thu 29-Dec-22 08:44:34

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country, where it seems it has stopped raining and it may be a much brighter day.

Took two DGD's Ten Pin Bowling yesterday. Great fun, not done it for quite a while. Then DD joined us for lunch in a local pub. Where we bumped into a friend (Manager at work).
Then back to their house where we played Scrabble. So an enjoyable day. 11 year old DGD dropped a scrabble letter under the table, I stretched to get it for her, as she said. " You need to keep moving Nanny or you will get old" shock

My lovely DS is 47 today! I can remember that day like yesterday, hard to realise how long it has been. We are going over to their house today for tea. Brother, SIL and Mum will be there, then we will take Mum home on the way back.

This morning a walk with my bi weekly walking group.

Ashcombe it is always a relief to get the tax return out of the way. I always say to myself I will do it in November, but always leave it till the week before Christmas!

Slowly you are getting your strength back Kitty it has been a long haul for you, hopefully each day will become easier.

Wishing you all a lovely day

baubles Thu 29-Dec-22 08:49:34

Marydoll, please take Kalu’s advice and leave the housework.

We’ve decided to be sensible and not go over to DS’s today.

Although I do hate letting them down I’ve realised that I’m just not well enough and we will see them at the weekend.

Grammaretto Thu 29-Dec-22 08:49:35

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm still in bed watching the rain.
Sis and I talked till the early hours , reminiscing mostly. Earlier I'd shown the old home movies, weddings etc to them and our NZ cousin who came for lunch.
My new boiler had a problem so the radiators were cold just in the sitting room. It wasn't very warm despite the fire and fan heater. The electrician came about 10pm and found the battery in the room thermostat had failed!
These gadgets conspire to defeat me.

Take it easy Mick and you too Marydoll none of this housework!
Although you may like to open a present or two.
I hope all who are struggling find some peace today.

Grandmabatty Thu 29-Dec-22 09:02:56

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and very wet. Marydoll housework is overrated. Stay in bed. Susan enjoy your lunch.
Yesterday I visited mum and she was complaining about feeling sick whilst eating chocolates. I think she's working up to cancelling coming for New Year's Day dinner. 😂 I then visited my friend who was having a really bad day. It's difficult to know how to help her. We messaged each other later and she was feeling a bit better. I think she's going to contact Macmillan nurses for advice.
Today I'm going to another friend's house for lunch. There will be five of us and it'll be nice to catch up. The lunch will be substantial so it'll be a sandwich later on, I expect. He lives in the countryside,so the roads will probably be flooded. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Thu 29-Dec-22 09:17:42

I know you are all correct in your advice and DH has ordered me to stay in bed.
I find it so hard to change the habits of a life time and feel guilty if I don't soldier on.

GMB, take care on those country roads!

Mick, your meds may need tweaked, my dizzy spells disappeared once my heart ones were increased.
Whatever the reason for feeling unwell, you would be foolish not to contact your GP. He can then contact your consultants if necessary.

Blossoming Thu 29-Dec-22 09:22:51

Good morning Mick and everyone. It rained heavily yesterday and overnight in this corner of Lancashire, but we have blue skies now, currently 7°C.

Nothing planned for today. Hoping everyone is as well as can be expected.

Kalu Thu 29-Dec-22 09:33:50

Good decision baubles. Feet up and have a lazy day. You deserve it.

Susan56 Thu 29-Dec-22 09:37:49

Grandmabatty I think our mums are cut from the same cloth!

McMillan were fantastic when my brother in law was ill. It’s definitely a good idea for your friend to contact them.

Gala Thu 29-Dec-22 09:43:42

Late start for me this morning after a very unsettled night. Lovely to see the sun shining here in Sefton in a nearly cloudless sky.
Managed to survive 3 hours in the indoor fair yesterday morning. The noise & flashing lights are very migraine inducing. The 2 little girls enjoyed themselves which is what mattered. We then had a very pleasant lunch in the hotel next door. What was left of the afternoon was spent recovering! No plans for today. I'm beginning to miss my routine.
Take care all.

BlueSapphire Thu 29-Dec-22 09:46:11

Good morning everyone a bright and sunny Northampton, well a bit mixed really, blue skies out of the front window, and grey clouds at the back! Poured with rain all day yesterday, but no matter, I wasn't going anywhere!

Spent yesterday afternoon transferring important dates to my new wall calendar; think I have got everyone's birthdays, anniversaries in and not forgotten anything. I like to have everything written down where I can see it. And importantly, have got my holiday dates and day trips out on there, plus dates for the cats' holidays to the cattery.

A gentle morning ahead and an early lunch, then I am treating myself to a panto visit this afternoon; there are two professional ones on in our town; I have been to see the one DGD is in, so now going to see the other; this one has a star from The Greatest Showman in it, the singer with the wonderful voice, Keala Settle. It is something to do to fill the days between Christmas and New Year.

Hoping a good day is ahead for all, and that those feeling under the weather soon feel better.

Anniebach Thu 29-Dec-22 09:50:53

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

luluaugust Thu 29-Dec-22 10:08:24

Good morning all, the sun is out here and just off to town to meet a dear friend and chat over Christmas stories. Saw other friends yesterday but after today the socialising stops again.
Our DGS2 was admitted to hospital yesterday with quinsy which had to be drained, he is on a drip and on the mend but it is the 4th time he has had it so it looks like his tonsils will be coming out soon, poor lad not nice as an adult.
I can't say where he is but when his father took him to A&E at 10 oclock yesterday morning there was no one else there, very different to us locally in W Kent where waiting times are enormous.
I hope everyone feeling unwell soon picks up.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Dec-22 10:14:33

Good morning all

We have an empty house, eldest on left yesterday lunchtime. I spent the afternoon feeding the washing machine interspersed with laying in the sofa. We popped down the road to our local Turkish for dinner only to find youngest son and his little family in there, so many cuddles with GD and GS (we were given our instructions for where they want to go for dinner when they have their next sleepover, they know we are total pushovers)

I need to catch up with your posts now, but first I must nip out to buy bread.

Have a good Thursday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning from West York's it's bright and dry at the moment we had very little sleep due to heavy rain and windy .My cough still annoying . Oh just putting some washing out don't know for how long ,he has just come in days it's very cold and wind has nearly blown pattern off teatowels .

aggie Thu 29-Dec-22 10:29:33

Good morning from a stormy but bright Co Armagh
Eldest arrives for a few days , it’s ages since his last visit , looking forward to seeing him
I stayed in bed reading so long that I’m stiff now !
As the Christmas food has been eaten it will be back to sensible food today , thank goodness
Why do GC think it’s a good idea to give a fat old lady huge box of chocolates ! I’m eating them 2 a day 😋

Litterpicker Thu 29-Dec-22 13:07:20

Good day from a showery East Lothian. The wind is very cold. I was out in the garden for a bit, emptying kitchen compost container and adding some of the Christmas cardboard. My fingers were soon frozen due to only wearing thin knitted gloves so I came in to warm up.

We had a lovely outing to Edinburgh with the family to see the light displays at the Castle. We were lucky with the weather, just a bit of light rain and not too much of a breeze. When the family went in 2019 they had flurries of snow and a very cold wind.

Today I will finally finish icing the Christmas cake! Nobody wants it with all the Christmas food anyway.

Shazza I can’t believe that baby is walking already. Lovely to hear your DGS said ‘birthday’ - he obviously keeps his efforts for the important words.

Mick I hope you get some help from your GP - it’s no fun being stuck inside.
Maydoll - same advice as all the others 💐

Hope all the coughs and lingering lurgies clear up soon.

We are going to see ‘An Edinburgh Christmas Carol’ at the Lyceum tomorrow with the family. I just booked it last night, having been surprised to find the DGSs reasonably enthusiastic when I suggested it.

Even later than usual posting as have no Wi-Fi at flat - I don’t want DD and DSiL to think I only come over for the internet and the coffee 😂

BlueBalou Thu 29-Dec-22 13:54:17

Good afternoon from breezy Wiltshire, I thought I’d posted but it seems not 🙄!
A very windy and wet night, my sleep was sporadic although I’m not sure why (when I take my hearing aids out I generally sleep through everything!)
Walked from Batheaston to Bathampton this morning, got rather wet and there were huge puddles; the river is well up, not really surprising I guess!
Quite enjoyable when the sun came out.
We’ve had lunch and DH and DDog are asleep.
I must finish the last sock and get it posted 😊
