DH and I got vouchers from both our children and their partners for two of our favourite restaurants, which will be much appreciated. I got some of my favourite Body Shop almond hand cream and a book I've been wanting to read for ages, Dave Grohl's The Storyteller.

Although I have a strong feeling it will be a boy, don't know why! Watch this space...

My daughters and families spent the day with me. Everyone mucked in, we had an excellent meal, enjoyed exchanging gifts. We managed to laugh and cry and continue talking about the love between us and the lovely mr I, our first Christmas without him

There wasn't one present I didn't like from my family. They are very generous and thoughtful. I am a very fortunate person.

Two massive, ugly nighties, just as I asked for, from my boys, and a bonus box of ferrero.

That was it, and I loved all three.

The boys said they saw the ugliest of the nighties and both said "That is very Nan".

Lots of chocolates - too many! - but we did say only edibles for the older generation this year.

I did however buy a jumper for dh (he gets one every Christmas or birthday, since never buys any for himself) and he liked it so much, he ordered another exactly the same!

I must add we have a relatively large family - five adult children and their families and a mother-in-law too.

Several of us buy foodie treats for each other.

I like Pema Bellini Angels, Val Gardena carved wood. This Christmas I received a lovely blue Angel. My favourite.

A gold bumblebee necklace. I haven’t taken it off since Christmas!

Can I put forward one that I bought for myself but also gave to my partner? A Woolley hat with a light in that we can wear when we have to wander round the garden with the dog in the middle of the night. Or wear when there’s a power cut ( which we get quite often) and it provides enough light to read with for hours. And can I recommend a book for anyone whose partner is mad about football: Super Squad by Colin Whelan. My partner is thoroughly enjoying it. He read the chapter about Dennis Law the day before his death was announced and was really cut up about it.He says it’s beautifully written and well researched.

I adore anything home made and got whole variety of things sewn, painted, baked and pickled!

A leather jacket that I chose myself. A hamper between me and DH from our daughter and son-in-law which contained cheeses, crackers, pickles, gin, tonic, wine, theatre tickets, a restaurant voucher. Far too much but lovely.
