Did you ever 'dump' someone in your youth?

Nope. Somehow I managed to remain friends with all of them. Two or three came to my wedding. One of them gave me a cookbook as a present😬🙄

I've never seen any of them since, perhaps because we all moved away.

However, I did meet a girl I knew at school who'd married one of my ex-boyfriends and I hoped she was happier with him than I would have been.

Oh, gosh, yes.
You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your Prince.

I was dumped a couple of times too. One was very unkind in the way he did it. I wasn't that keen on him anyway!

I always tried to be kind but sometimes that is worse than being blunt.

CornflowerBlue, that's lovely, he obviously forgave you 🙂

I dumped my boyfriend after 2 and a half years of dating in our teens. But I never forgot him. In our early 40s not having seen him since I was 16 and both in unhappy marriages, we reconnected through Friends Reunited totally unexpectedly! We have now been married for over 20 years and never been happier! (He still reminds me of how I dumped him though!!!)

I've dumped people left, right, and centre.
I don't regret it, I'm sure they all went on with life without me.

Me too. I had been dumped a couple of times, too

In my early 20s I dumped someone I'd been seeing for a few years without a backward glance as I'd found someone more exciting. To this day I am ashamed at my behaviour. I've learned to treat people better now. I regret the way I handled the situation as he deserved better.

Yes, funny old world of past relationships. I've often wondered about a lovely chap I severed relationship with in our mid twenties. He was the most delightful and upstanding fellow but perhaps lacked the element of excitement for me. Not at all his fault and I carry a degree of guilt with me to this day even though I found the 'right' man. Mmmmm.......

I met my future husband when I was eighteen. I only had two previous boyfriends and I finished with both of them. On and off for fifty years I've thought that I could have been kinder. I finished with one because College 'friends' teased me that he was fat. I stood up a boy that I really liked because my best friend said she missed us going out together and talked me into finishing with him. I've felt the guilt ever since because he took two buses to my home (no telephone then) as he was worried that I was ill. They've probably both forgotten me though!
