Too many plants?

All my married life I’ve had no pot plants but i become unemployed just before the first lockdown. So I was stir-crazy, locked in the house. So I started picking up plants with the 4 weekly shop. So there are about a dozen in this room and the rest…..
Not clutter, a source of pleasure and they enhance your environment, enjoy!

Miss A if you don’t see them as clutter then they are not. I have far too many books taking up a lot of space. To me they are not clutter, but others might think they are. If you have a lot of plants it means you bought them because you enjoy them. I wish I shared your passion but much as I like them I always manage to kill them. . Keep enjoying them and don’t worry about whether they’re “clutter” or not. They give you pleasure. Enjoy them.

Both for your physical health and to lift your mood.

I have one which I repot or take cuttings from, the original plant I got before my 25 year old son!
I have loads and want many more

I’ve just counted nineteen plus some I’m propagating in the utility room.

Ferns have not been a huge success though.

Spent this afternoon putting mine all back in place after taking the Christmas tree and decorations down. I think next year I’ll just drape them in tinsel instead.

The trouble is I moved them for the time being to the utility room and on the landing window and now it looks bare. So tomorrow……….

We've got one! I can't keep house plants. They always die. However, many years ago a friend bought me a peace lily. That plant thrives. It loves it here. It is lush and is flowering as we speak. I have no idea why. I water it when I think about it. The friend who bought it died aged 52. Maybe her spirit is in my plant!

My house is full of books, photos and plants.
I went through a phase of getting rid of them all, but I’m back now with a lot of lovely plants, and I’m enjoying them.

I began running out of space for my plants and started hanging more. 😩. I have hung them low enough for easy watering but not low enough for any one to walk into and suffer a concussion! I personally feel plants give life to a room, good for the soul and so rewarding seeing them thrive.
DD1 has just begun to take an interest in houseplants. I started her off with a cutting of Oxalis Triangularis Purpurea, the plant that never dies no matter how many times you neglect it. If it is dried out, tidy up, chop, all dead foliage and give it a good drink of water and new shoots will appear. Thought this might be worth sharing.

I agree Kalu they do give life to a room. We have to move the peace lily to make room for the Christmas tree. I'm sure it sulks. It droops until we put it back.

My fast living, club loving oldest granddaughter has taken an interest in house plants, it’s quite sweet.

Gollum jade and zebra plant in miniature pots were happily received by my small grandsons to add to the cactus which seems to please. I think plants add to well being and also air quality. It’s easy enough to propagate aloe Vera, fig trees, lemon trees from organic pips and fatsia japonica etc and soon make a green haven from existing stock.

You can never have too many plants, too many pets, too many friends, too many grandchildren or too many people who love you. However, one crocodile is one too many.

I never heard of plants being classed as clutter! But after reading of books being described as clutter 😱 nothing from the minimalist-minded would surprise me.

I used to have lots, but now only 3 huge ones, more like mini trees. One is a Swiss Cheese plant we’ve had for decades - every few years I have to take a few colossal cuttings - I mean at least 3 feet long each - with aerial roots, and start again - once it’s trying to clamber through the ceiling. Amazingly enough, it’s always worked.

Absent- you are a wise woman! I concur, although may I be permitted to add never - too- many - books to your list?

House plants are good for the air in your home they brighten a room up and your mood I think so anyway.
If a plant looks dry and tired I tidy it up and it will usually perk up. Re potting when they get bigger and watering them correctly is important. I don’t like to see a plant die off it saddens me.
